No this didn’t help. For whatever reason Spectrum put TWO of these modem’s on my friend’s ‘system’. There’s no status lights on either modem yet somehow they are working.
If the default WIFI passwords are changed at all, they get disabled by Spectrum evidently. One of the two modem’s Spectrum ZIP TIED a Netgear WIFI modem to in order to give it WIFI?? The modem HAS WIFI built into it? This is the WORST setup I have ever witnessed in 30+ years of being in IT.

    1. ModemGuides says:

      Hi David!

That sounds like a mess! In situations like this, we usually recommend starting from scratch by unplugging everything (and removing the zip ties) and starting fresh. It will likely require a phone call to Spectrum so that they can tell you which of the 2 modems is active (there should only be one). Then you should probably factory reset the devices that will be used going forward. You can try to log into the Technicolor modem to disable the built-in wifi in order to use the Netgear router’s wifi instead, however be aware that Spectrum’s firmware will often prevent you from changing that setting and other wifi settings.

I don’t generally recommend a modem-router combo for Spectrum because it tends to be harder to install correctly. There are often issues with provisioning Spectrum’s firmware on customer-owned devices, especially if it’s a modem and router combo.

      Good luck!
