How to Reset Arris BGW210-700

Resetting your Arris BGW210 is one of the easiest ways to correct almost all common technical issues that you may experience over the life of your modem. It’s a super handy tool to have in your troubleshooting repertoire and can save you hours on the phone with your provider. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Plug your modem in to the power supply and wait 2 minutes for it to boot up fully. You’ll know it’s booted fully when the wireless lights come on.
  2. Locate the reset button on the back of the modem. It’ll be on the same side where all the ports are located. Generally reset buttons on this kind of device will just be a tiny hole that may or may not be labeled.
  3. You’ll need a flattened paperclip or pen cartridge to do this next part. Press down and hold the reset button for 30 seconds with your modem still plugged in. You should feel a small dull click when you press in the reset button with your paperclip.
  4. Now wait a few minutes for your modem to reset and reboot itself. You’ll know it’s finished and ready to use when the WiFi lights come back on.

Tip: Still not resetting? Try just holding down for 15 or 20 seconds instead of the full 30. Some firmware versions differ on the number of seconds needed for a reset.

I have been having issues with my wifi signal. Using a BGW210-700. On my cell phone go to Settings, Connections, wifi. click on the gear and I get 390 , 65, 234 mbps. The signal booster device light goes to red or nothing when the signal gets too low. The signal booster and BGW are one floor apart in my home wood construction.
The Internet down load speed is 50 mbps.
1: Should the wifi speed vary as much as it is?
2: What can be done to keep it at a higher number?
3: The bottom of the BGW is located 30 inches above the floor

      Hello Marshal!

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns regarding the BGW210-700 and your Wi-Fi signal. We appreciate the detailed information provided.

Wi-Fi Speed Variability: It’s not uncommon for Wi-Fi speeds to vary, especially when measured on different devices. However, the range you mentioned (390, 65, 234 Mbps) is quite broad and could indicate interference or other issues.

    2. Improving Stability: To maintain a more consistent higher speed:
Consider relocating the modem closer to the signal booster or centrally within the home.
Make sure the modem is away from electronic devices that can cause interference.
Check for firmware updates for both your modem and signal booster.
    3. Modem Placement: Having the BGW 30 inches above the floor is generally fine, but if it’s enclosed or obstructed, that could affect signal strength.
    4. If the issue persists, we recommend contacting our technical support for a more in-depth diagnosis.
