Speeds & Coverage of the CenturyLink Q1000
To add to the Q1000’s Power, Gigabit Ethernet is included on all 4 LAN ports. Supporting data transfer speeds up to 1000 Mbps, the Q1000 can move massive amounts of data. While 802.11n is the default out of the box, this model also has backward compatibility to older wireless protocols, combining flexibility with power.
Also included in this model is MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) smart antenna technology, which improves your wireless experience by offering better whole-home coverage. This technology also helps eliminate dead spots so that your network can be enjoyed anywhere in your home.
In addition to all of the wireless features offered by this device, it’s also backward compatible with ADSL 2+/2. Q1000 works great. The delivery was quick. The seller included not just the hardware, but also all the requisite cables AND instructions. I was very impressed that nothing was left out. It truly was “like new.”

Modem works flawlessly. Its also super fast (40 MBps). Has never stopped working suddenly like other Century Link modems. Its also considered the top of the line modem for Qwest/Century link users.

I bought this item used, it has worked great. I had to find my own power supply for it, which was a bit frustrating as no one will tell you what the rating on the power supply is, and it does not appear on the modem itself. It takes a 10 Volt, 1.6 amp power supply, and the power pin is center positive, approx. 3.5/10ths of an inch long by 2.5/10ths wide, with the center opening being 1/10th of an inch wide. The two antennas make for nice coverage in a medium apartment.

Retired mine after 2 years of trouble free service. It was still working when retired (lets just say honorably released from active duty!) Can’t find anything bad to write about it except that if you are having trouble updating anything in the modem via the admin access console then its very likely the culprit is Firefox! Just use another browser (IE or Safari. haven’t tried Chrome). Not sure if its the modem’s fault or the browser’s.Found out the hard way so I thought I’d mention in case it helps anyone.

The Actiontek Q1000 has been an extremely solid unit for the past two years. It is easy to setup, and allows the more knowledgeable user to build routing tables and limit accessable devices via mac address (for a more secure home setup.)It plays well with Cisco/Linksys wireless netork devices. My gripes are few, but substantial. The router needs to have a table purge/erase. Otherwise you are forced to default the router and start the entire config over. Admittedly, I am not the normal home user, and should look elsewhere for deeper control functions. All in all, excellent value for the price.

I got this because I both needed a new DSL modem to support my new ADSL-2+ connection (which this unit sync’d to at 18-megabits/sec!) and I also wanted a router with Gigabit ports. This satisfied that purpose. It was NOT that easy to get it to forget about QWEST, I did a factory reset, and after a lot of trial and error, got DHCP (instead of PPP-OE) to work on the WAN (DSL) interface.Cons: crappy QOS options. Port forwarding: no way to define a custom port. Oh well, it’s cheap.

this has been a very good product. I have had zero issues with it since I got it December of 2012 and I’m writing the review in June 2013. I has excellent coverage for 2400 sqft home and yard.
Sherrywyne –
Very happy with the modem. The seller was very helpful with info on packaging slip. Worked like a charm. The delivery was prompt and product was in excellent condition. The only reason this review is late is because we just finally installed modem this week.

It works, read the reviews. Good modem. The one I bought off Amazon came broke but it was a used one . Rattling inside..I bought a new one and it works fine

I’m temporarily using Qwest for an ISP. Since I need IPv6 capability for my upcoming mesh network, I needed a xDSL modem capable of connecting local IPv6 networks as well. After upgrading the firmware, Actiontec’s Q1000 works as intended. Stability and connectivity have been excellent thus far.

I’ve been using this for a year, and I’ve had zero problems with it. I’ve had constant and fast connection for a year with the Q1000, and that’s the first time I’ve ever been able to say that in my lifetime about a router.
Erwin Basil –
Thought I ordered only the modem (as pictured).Came complete in a box from Century Link. This is surprising because they no longer offer this modem.Currently using this modem for 2 years and only now starting to have problems.Haven’t hooked it up yet. It is a replacement as current recommended modems seemed unsatisfactory. Will update when I start to use.

I’m very happy with this purchase. I didn’t realize it was a modem and router in one – a VERY good surprise! It works perfectly and delivers the high speed data for all my WiFi products.
Wendy Lynn Clark –
Our old CenturyLink modem went out and we had no interest in buying another from them because the first one dropped signals all the time. Even when I was holding my netbook in front of the router it wouldn’t always pick it up. This one we plugged in and it worked immediately. It covers our whole house much better than the old one. Six months later, still a good purchase!
Buz Dog –
I would have paid more if I had been renting this same modem from Qwest. Don’t rent a modem, buy one from Amazon.
shari –
I have only had this product for a month or so, but so far, it is working wonderfully. Set up was relatively painless.

I bought this so I could use it with Century Link. First let me start by saying, I was very impressed with this seller and with Actiontec as a company. They were very professional and helpful. I would definitely do business with them again. The seller was very supportive of this mix-up and helped me through the return process. Now, for the description and feedback. It turns out you must first contact Qwest/Centurylink and find out if your specific service uses VDSL or not. In my case, Centurylink requires a modem with VDSL. This particular modem is compatible with Centurylink as long as Centurylink services is VDSL and this modem is NOT VDSL. I really don’t understand what all the VDSL or non VDSL means. But, just know this….if YOUR centurylink service runs VDSL this will not work. If your centurylink service does not run VDSL then this should work.
A. R. Sarten –
Wished I had bought one sooner and saved all the rent I paid to the provider . Product was used but looked and worked as well as the one I had been renting from Qwest/CenturyLink.
J. Carey –
We needed a specific wireless router to use with our internet provider in this area, and this fit the bill as advertised.

Perfect

Had it for about a year now and have never had a problem with it. We use it with CenturyLink and chose to set up the internet connection by ourselves, so it’s pretty user-friendly. I think in the whole year we’ve had it, we’ve had to restart it maybe twice.
Toros Torosian –
Very like it. Powerful, not expensive!!
Karla Rankin –
Received promptly and was what I wanted. thank you
JBill –
Works beautifully, and way cheaper than renting one every month.

Moved out into the country and realized I had to downgrade from cable internet to DSL. I picked this up because I did not want to pay more ($120) for a crappier unit directly provided by CenturyLink. I hooked up this unit and I didn’t have to do anything; the modem and wireless were automatically ready to go. Passcode was on the bottom of the unit. My internet is rated for 12 Mbps and I’m getting 11.5 Mbps on wireless, which is great.I have also noticed that the connection speed seems to lag when 3 or more users are on the wireless. I might be using a separate router at some point in the future.
Ney H. –
This is one of the best routers, and it was shipped fast and safe.
Jus Sayin’ –
Lightweight, also has holes on the back for sitting on a surface or hanging on a wall or side of a desk. Completely straight forward to set up. Works great. Saving myself $!0 a month by not renting the one offered by my internet service provider.
Cory –
Great replacement
Terry Rose –
Works good but now I can’t get my wall phone connected so they both work, must need a different type of wall jack
goldpanr –
Appears to been used and it was not in the original box, but it works just fine.
P. Ludlow –
Works fine, and the reseller was great in getting it to me quickly.
Daniel Thrasher –
I got internet again
Addison –
I bought this to use with CenturyLink. It’s the exact modem they would have rented me, and it was super easy to set up. I’m not very techy and had no trouble at all. Definitely worth it to buy this instead of renting from CenturyLink.
melanie mccollum –
Working good easy set up and in great condition!
David –
It works well! I am saving quite a bit by using a modem i purchased myself and I get the same high quality internet connection. What more could I ask for?
thesnow27 –
Got this at a great price ($36.xx) which is about a third of what CenturyLink will charge you. Been using it for about 1.5 years and still hasn’t broken down. I use in a 770 sq. ft apartment so the range seems to do fine. So definitely a worthwhile purchase.
brian frantzen –
Works good, don’t have to lease one anymore from Century Link
Frank Artner –
Arrived on time and worked immediately. Very satisfied
Customer –
This was an okay modem. My husband and I purchased it when we started having internet at home and we didn’t want to pay a ridiculous amount for a router from the internet service provider. It took FOREVER to configure (and three different calls to the ISP). I work in IT and have a pretty good idea of how to setup a modem and I struggled. However, it did finally work (I honestly don’t know what fixed it, so now I’m afraid to unplug it). The router was pretty beat up when we got it– wasn’t packaged super well, either. The instructions weren’t incredibly helpful, but better than nothing. But for $30, I can’t really complain too much.
Jon –
Does its job but I’d recommend splurging a little and buying a newer modem.
Shlomo Shabtay –
fantastic
Carol McDaniel –
Delivered promptly and so much better than renting!!
Preetesh Kulkarni –
Working perfectly
AJ –
We had the same model previously and didn’t have any issues, but this one keeps needing to be reset and defaults back to previous settings. It’s a major pain!
John F. Westermann –
Works great just like it’s supposed too.
Customer –
Works fine.

I’ve had this modem for a little over a year now. Overall, it’s a solid modem/router, offering multiple SSIDs, 1 Gbps ethernet, and loads of configuration options. I use it to stream movies from my NAS without any issues. Having multiples SSIDs is useful for when you have guests coming over. It also handles my second router as a wireless access point on opposite side of the house (I have q1000 in basement; master bedroom is opposite side of house, two floors up, so the signal gets attenuated a fair amount).I rarely have to reboot it… though that is easy enough, even remotely.
Fourier Transform –
Got it from Qwest when they upgraded my community to fiber (VDSL). It has been working non-stop for the past 1.5 years. Supports 4 computers, 4 devices, 1 TV. No problem to stream 2 HD movies at the same time.
K. P. Kelley –
Perfect if you only have a VDSL connection since there’s only one other option. The only other option I know of is a Century Link C1000A.
Stew Cristan –
Solid no issues, easy set up. Solid no issues, easy set up. Solid no issues, easy set up . Solid no issues, easy set up
C. R. Love –
I’m getting over 2 megabytes per second over my laptops wireless network card, which is over 7.2 gigabytes per hour. I don’t even have the fastest service (though I do have a higher than average service level). If I were to upgrade my internet speed through my provider, I have no doubt that this modem would meet the demand of my upgraded service. It’s also nice and easy to use. Nothing cryptic about the interface; it’s very user friendly.I was a little surprised at how much it cost, but this is actually my first DSL modem; all my other modems were made for cable TV internet providers, in which data is transferred over coax instead of the telephone line. However, considering it’s an all in one solution, the cost is comparable to having to buy a separate modem and router anyway.
