Queen Bee in VA –
I have a Verizon FiOS quantum gateway in my basement (not an ideal location) with 75MB / 75MB Internet connection and was only getting 4MB throughput in my master bedroom, which is a huge problem for streaming movies. I bought this extender and have now increased my WiFi throughput twenty-fold. I decided to use the wired ethernet for streaming and as an added bonus, extended my WiFi coverage. Contrary to some statements, you don’t need cable TV for this to work, it uses the existing coax cable in your home. I recommend changing the name of the SSID on the extender to match your existing SSID, along with the password. You’ll have to login to your existing router to see which DHCP address was assigned to the extender if you want to connect directly to the extender portal. I configured the extender to use a static IP address so that it is not changing every time it reboots, it’s easier to just remember a static IP. The package comes with everything you should need, a MOCA splitter, ethernet cable, and two coax cables. I’m very pleased with the product thus far.

Unfortunately did not work with our WiFi provider, returned without any problems – Good service.

Works great with Fios and optimum. With Fios you have the choice to use the Ethernet or coax as an input. With any other internet provider you can use the Ethernet only input and have an instant Access point or extender.
Easy instructions for installation.
1. Power up.
2. connect coax(FIOS Only) or Ethernet from any internet router .
3. Find the local network IP address of this Actiontec. It should start with 192.168.1.___. If you don’t know how to find the local ip addrees of the ACTIONTEC, download Fing app on phone. Once Fing is install run it and look up Actiontec’s local IP address.
4. type local ip addrees of actiontec on browser. 192.168.1.___
5. user name = admin Password =admin
6. update the ssid and SSID password to be the same as your existing WIFI SSID and SSID password.
7. You just installed a very cheap extender and or access point

Ethernet ports do not work. WiFi appears faster but connection to sites slows and the set had to be switched off to connect. Called Actiontec for help but the person was not helpful at all and insisted my 3 computers which I tried connecting to are faulty

Everything about this product is wrong and I think this is the worst product you could ever buy. I got the product and plugged it to my coxial cable and it never worked. I then called the company and they told me I had to buy an ECB6200 and I was like whaaaat. I would not recommend anyone to buy this product. It doesn’t even deserve a star.

Note: This is NOT a cable modem. This is NOT a wireless router. You do NOT activate it with your cable carrier. This is an access point that creates an extension of your existing wireless network (generally speaking), and it requires a wired network to backhaul the signal. See more below.
For what it’s worth, mine did not come with the quick start guide, not a splitter, not an ethernet cable. However, I didn’t need them, and the instructions (not that you need them!) are on the manufacturer web site. Four out of five stars for missing pieces.
Overall, this is an incredible value for $11-13 or whatever it costs when you read this. This unit can bridge ethernet to WiFi, MoCA to WiFi, and ethernet to MoCA creating your MoCA network if you don’t have one. You plug it in and it just works. It has default SSIDs, which you can change to match your home network, and you can keep both radios on the same SSID, unlike some other platforms that force to you separate them.

Wasn’t getting extended wifi coverage with a regular repeater, looked into the issue came across the Moca approach which turns regular coax cable into ethernet cables. You need two units one simple converter at the cable modem and this type of converter in the far away room. You attached the coax from the wall to it and wait for green lights. It’s all plug and play. No settings to fiddle with. Now have great WiFi all over the house. Got rid of the old repeater
Antipodean Charm –
My modem is MoCA 2.0 enabled (Rogers Ignite CGM4140COM), so I put in a MoCA filter and MoCA splitter where the cable comes into the house, and to cable outlets to selected rooms. I enabled MoCA in my modem, attached this device to a cable outlet, shoved an Ethernet cable between it and my laptop, and bingo! – Speedtest.net speeds at the rate I paid for in a previously inaccessible part of the house. The wifi is also reliable, and enabled me to cut the cord wrt my printer. I’d buy this again!
RVAEngineer –
The unit I received was specific to Time Warner Cable and there was no firmware available to download for Verizon specific application. It was not plug-and-play, and what I found out was that many features of the item were not available for configuration (by default). You had to edit code on the web access interface to show and change options that are necessary for configuration for Verizon application. I see how some people *might* think it is working as a MoCA adapter, but it is also a WiFi repeater – if you are trying to use this for MoCA improvement of your network, be advised that you likely need to be a networking and computer pro to get it to work on an existing application from a service provider.

I was having trouble with lag while online gaming over wifi. I knew my tivo’s were already communicating with moca so i decided to try this to get a wired connection to my xbox. I didn’t read anything or configure anything, just made the connections and plugged it in and it worked perfect. No more lag.
