ARRIS SB6190 Manual & Product Guides

How to Activate ARRIS SB6190

Activating your ARRIS SB6190 is the first step you need to take after unboxing your new modem. It’s a fairly simple process, and we recommend setting aside about an hour of your time to ensure you’re able to complete the whole activation.

  1. Plug in your new modem the same as the one it’s replacing. Make sure power cable is plugged in and coaxial cable is screwed in on the back as well. It’s recommended to do this and then wait an hour before calling your provider, if possible, so that your modem can download whatever firmware is needed for the activation.
  2. Next, call your provider and let them know that you’re doing an activation with a self-install of your new modem. They’ll ask you for a few of the numbers on the bottom of the unit and then proceed to get your modem added to your account and service plan.
  3. The call will end after the representative verifies with you that you have an internet connection. You can test this for yourself simply by visiting a few websites.

Your modem is now activated!

How to Reset ARRIS SB6190

Resetting your ARRIS SB6190 is one of the easiest ways to correct almost all common technical issues that you may experience over the life of your modem. It’s a super handy tool to have in your troubleshooting repertoire and can save you hours on the phone with your provider. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Plug your modem in to the power supply and wait 2 minutes for it to boot up fully. You’ll know it’s booted fully when the wireless lights come on.
  2. Locate the reset button on the back of the modem. It’ll be on the same side where all the ports are located. Generally reset buttons on this kind of device will just be a tiny hole that may or may not be labeled.
  3. You’ll need a flattened paperclip or pen cartridge to do this next part. Press down and hold the reset button for 30 seconds with your modem still plugged in. You should feel a small dull click when you press in the reset button with your paperclip.
  4. Now wait a few minutes for your modem to reset and reboot itself. You’ll know it’s finished and ready to use when the WiFi lights come back on.

Tip: Still not resetting? Try just holding down for 15 or 20 seconds instead of the full 30. Some firmware versions differ on the number of seconds needed for a reset.

How to Find Your IP Address

This method works on Windows computers and does not require any software to be downloaded. You’ll be using command prompt to find the internal IP address so you can log into your WiFi router or modem router’s settings panel.

  1. Click the start menu in the bottom left of your screen.
  2. In the search bar in your start menu, type in “cmd.exe” and then click on that program when it appears in the search.
  3. When the program opens, you’ll see a black window on your screen with white text.
  4. Type into the program “ipconfig“, then hit Enter. Your window should look like the one shown below. The IP address circled below shows where your internal IP address will be on your command prompt window. Now you can move on to accessing your modem or modem router’s settings admin panel.

Bought this (refurbished) Surfboard SB6141 elsewhere a few months ago. Mine wasn’t in the best condition as it definitely looked used, but as long as it works who cares. Modems don’t generally tend to break. I paid $57 at the time which was a good deal since these retailed for $80-$90 then. Now though, there’s a better option available; the new TP-Link TC-7610 modem which retails for around $60, it has identical specs and a two year warranty. I own both of these and am very happy with their performance! The Surfboard SB6141 doesn’t get too hot, just warm in my experience. The lights on it are a bit bright, but not a problem that black tape can’t fix. Mine is behind some furniture anyways, so it’s not a problem. Overall it’s been performing great and meets all my internet provider’s (RCN) requirements. It also works with Comcast (Xfinity). I only have internet, but if you also have phone service you will need to get a different modem that has a phone jack.Btw, I have used it with multiple service providers and with varying service speeds and the modem supported them all without a problem. Here is an example of the internet service speeds (in Mbps) I’ve had: Comcast – 25/5 | RCN – 50/10 | RCN – 155/15 |Once you get it, you do have to call your internet provider and have them set it up. They will need the MAC address which is printed in the bottom of the modem. After they put it into their system and send a reset signal, the modem should be operational. Keep in mind, this is a modem and not a router! It only provides internet via an Ethernet cable. If you want wireless (Wi-Fi), you also need a router that requires a wired connection to the modem and additional set up.Hope this helps.

    LA Downey Rams – May 5, 2016

I’ve been trying to “disconnect” as much as possible from the cable company. I live in Los Angeles and have TWC. I’ve leased several modems over the years and don’t even want to think about how much money I’ve spent doing so. The main reason I leased for so long is because of the implied support. If something went wrong with any of the equipment you could call a TWC technician or take it into a local branch to swap out. But for $100 I figured try it out for one week before I return the rented modem. And if for some reason down the road the purchased modem fails on me I could always go back to TWC and lease another one. It’s been two months and so far so good!!! Speeds are great and I don’t have to reset the equipment nearly as often. The installation process was a bit nerve wrecking but that’s because TWC needs to detect and register the new modem. There are several posts online to help you out but bottom line is you have to give it up to a good hour + for the registration to take place. Just in case: This unit does not omit a wifi signal or have more than I ethernet out port. So if you plug in more than one device directly to the modem or need wifi make sure you get a wifi router along side this modem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    Informed Consumer – November 18, 2016

I purchased this modem yesterday to replace the one from my ISP. I’m no networking guru by any stretch of the imagination so the only really metric of success I can provide is a speed test. With my ISP modem (an UBEE DDW3611) I was getting:>Ping 20ms>Down 36.17mbps>UP 5.93mbpsAfter a somewhat annoying phone call to my ISP to activate the new modem, this is what I got from the ARRIS SB6141:>Ping 20ms>Down 72.44mbps>Up 6.18mbpsAgain, that being the only metric for success I know to apply to networking, seems it all worked out pretty good. I also saw a bit less lag when gaming, but that could simply be because the server wasn’t as populated as normal.

Worked well to start, but after only 4 months of use I woke up one morning to find all the status lights off with the exception of a single flashing light that indicated that I was no longer getting an IP connection. Customer service was initially friendly, but without an Ethernet cable on my Mac laptop, I wasn’t able to access the modem’s diagnostics and despite still being under warranty, ARRIS claimed to be unable to issue a replacement without running a test first. Since they said they would have to take my credit card number down as collateral anyway, I didn’t see the sensibility in the company taking this position. I’m really dissapointed I paid $90 for 4 months use of this product.

WORKS GREAT!!!!!!! Way better than my Mediacom DOCSIS 3 modem and it’ll pay for itself in less than a year!!! No more giving my cable company $7.50/month as a fuggin rental fee!!! I switched this, a new router and double my internet speed and I went from 16 mbps wirelessly at peak usage time, to 259 mbps the same exact time!!!! Feel free to send me some free stuff ARRIS, for this awesome review 😉

This was a super simple install. Hooked it up and went through the basic setup on the device no need to remote in from a computer or let your internet installer know your password. The screen is easy to navigate and you have full control over every thing. Will update as I get more use out of it but so far it’s great!

My previous modem only netted me 30% of what I was paying for, and it wasn’t cheap! I’m now getting speeds 30-50 mbps faster than what I’m paying for. I am very happy with my purchase.

I own this and have been using it with Xfinity from Comcast for a couple of years. The last few weeks my service has been horrible and I have had to reboot the modem up to 11 times a day to restore operation. I just got hold of Comcast and their tech told me this modem was End of Life and no longer supported, and I will have to buy a new modem to get proper operation. Apparently Comcast is rolling out DOCSIS 3.1 and not all the older 3.0 modems including this one will work correctly with the new gear Comcast is using. The picture is from the Xfinity website saying the Arris SB6141 is not supported. Unfortunately the supported DOCSIS 3.1 modems are all over $150.

Do yourself a favor and save the $10 month modem lease fee. I’m on Time Warner Cable legacy and this modem works perfectly.Simple to install.Screw in coax cable, plug in ethernet cable and then power cable. The modem boots up until all lights are solid. Call your cable company and give them the modem’s MAC address. The cable company does their thing, they reboot modem and you’re online. Very easy process. Anyone can do it. Important: Make sure the cable company confirms your account is changed to “customer owned modem”. This way you won’t pay the $10 lease fee. This is a very small modem, when compared to the huge modem from the cable company. The modem does get warm, but not hot. I’ve read where some said it was super hot. I haven’t noticed that. Just warm to the touch. What I would recommend: keep this modem in a well ventilated area. The modem has ventilation holes all around it. I wouldn’t cover or block any of them. Give the modem some room around the top and sides. You can access the modem’s web interface via 192.168.100.1, where you can see your cable signals and event log. If you ever have issues with your Internet, your cable signals and event log can help the cable company troubleshoot your service. Performance has been great. I’m on 60/5 Mbps Internet and get 70/6 consistently on Wi-Fi. The SB6183 is paired with an ASUS RT-AC1900P Wireless Router and they function perfectly together. I’m thinking just about any wireless router will work with this modem.I purchased this modem. You should too and spend that $10 elsewhere.

I have basic Starter Plan from Comcast (10 Mbps download / 2 Mbps Upload). I was getting about 7 Mbps download / 1 Mbps Upload with my old Motorola SB5100 cable modem. Now, I am getting about 12 Mbps download / 2 Mbps Upload with this new modem. See the attached speed test.

I have Cox. Also I have the cheaper package 30 Mbps yet I’m getting well over 50 Mbps. I definitely recommend it per the following. Currently have 5 iPhones, 2 Tablets, 1 Xbox, and 1 PlayStation in the house. This bad boy allows for it all, with no issues. The best feature is the 5 ghz and 2ghz which enables separation between old Gen and new Gen devices. It’s worth having your own router, it’s an investment. Yet it saves over the long run. Here is the plus side, two year warranty. Enough time to get your return on your money.

    CAMPJEEP – June 13, 2018

When paired with the Linksys AC4000 Wi-Fi Tri-Band Router I get very fast reliable Wi-Fi Coverage. 👍👍👍👍👍I was really in the dark ages and never knew it,I had a 10 year old motorola SB5101 cable modem capable of only 30 Mbps, It is like myself getting old it sneaks up on you,I got a ring doorbell , then a 4K smart TV ,I have a 17 inch laptop, grandkids streaming youtube and just kept adding to the wifi load. The old modem and router just could not handle the load anymore. At one time I had check my speed and it was 15 Mbps download 5 Mbps upload and things were good but then I was having to reboot the modem all the time and it was showing 5 to 8 Mbps download 4 Mbps upload. The new router really helped then 30 Mbps down 7 Mbps upload and then came the ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 Cable Modem and now get 51 Mbps and 13 Mbps on the (2.4GHz) side and 117 Mbps download and 13 Mbps upload on the (5GHz)side. I know there are users that got better results than I but without increasing Spectrum cable speed but I am happy and have had no problems now for two months and note it is a small package and does not take up much space.I called ARRIS at (1 877 466 8646) the night before the install and ask a frew questions and they was like talking to family. The ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 was easy to get up and running , calling Spectrum went smoothly believe it or not…I have nothing but good things to say about the SB6183 modem. Performance is good and reliability is top notch. Thanks for taking the time to read my review…Campjeep( 51 Mbps and 13 Mbps on the 2.4GHz side)(117 Mbps download and 13 Mbps upload on the 5GHz)side).

It kinda gets a little hot but I fixed this issue real fast with AC Infinity 120mm USB fans. They are connected to my router. Def make sure you have the correct upstream and downstream from your ISP. It’s pointless to go above this model if you don’t have 1 Gbps download speed coming in.

Plugged the modem into the coax cable. When I went to log into 192.168.0.1, it was stuck on a page that said “Unit is updating, please wait for a moment.”I power cycled the modem, factory reset it, and even let it try to update overnight for 6+ hours, and it was still stuck on that page.I had to return this modem, then temporarily rent a modem from Xfinity while I get a modem that actually works. Very unsatisfied.

I bought this modem and it is really easy to install. I’m a Comcast user, so you just have to give them a call and they will add this baby to your account, and that’s it, ready to use. Be advised that, there are 2 ports in this modem, that means you need to get a second public IP address from your ISP IF you want to use both at same time, otherwise you just can use one port at a time. I have a 1 gig plan and it works amazing.

    Steven Pfeiffer – October 15, 2018

I bought this modem in January of 2018. 10 months later, it has begun having latency issues. After a bit of research on the topic, this modem is infamous for having issues with its chipset being complete garbage. Simply put, the chipset tries to handle too much information and chokes itself until you have at least a 200ms latency increase. I game a lot on my PC, so this modem is basically useless to me.If you look at the photo, you’ll see that there are intermittent lag spikes randomly, over time, on every hop, meaning that the issue must be with my equipment. This issue could be caused by several things. Ethernet cable? Nope, hop 1 to the router is always <10ms. LAN Switch? Nope, took that out of the equation and the problem persists. Router? Same answer as the switch. Modem? That's gotta be it. I cannot eliminate the modem from probable suspects until a new modem gets here in 2 days. Will it be an Arris Modem?Heck naw.TL:DR: If you care about latency when you're browsing, gaming, or streaming, stay far, far away from this modem. Perhaps do as I plan on doing and stay away from Arris products altogether.

I’ve owned Arris/Motorola Surfboard products for many years! I don’t like renting equipment from the cable companies. However, the manufactures sell the cable companies products that work better than the ones that they sell directly to consumers, products specifically Tailor Made for them! I bought TWO (2) and had to return them both! The irony is … the one that I’m using to replace this one is an Arris … made specifically for WOW! by Arris! It gives me the speed promised by the ISP (WOW!) The one I bought only gave me HALF the speed!

As much as I dislike Cable One, I do like this modem. No issues with it, we get maximum speeds (actually a little more) that we are paying for out of it (about 115 mbps down, 10 up, I think we pay for 100/5). We are hoping to get gigabit when we move in July, so I will update this when that happens to discuss performance. I think the white looks good. Have this paired up with a Google wifi puck.

Which means you don’t have to pay those monthly rental charges, but you would still need to own it for approximately 2 years (varying depending on how much you paid it for) to recoup the cost.- Small, compact, and can be discretely stored and out of sight.- Easy setup. Plug-in and call Xfinity to activate. The bad- It is only a modem and not a router/modem mix. Which means you would still need a router to get your wifi.- Pricey for a modem only.Is it worth it? If you’re trying to get the 1 GIG speed from Xfinity then yes.Your questions, our answersDo I also have to buy a router for the modem? And to make sure it obviously speeds up internet connection right?Yes, you’ll have to buy a router. Depending what your old device was and your current internet capacity availability. How is this model different than the arris surfboard sb6121???This model has a higher internet capacity speed. The SB6121 has a download speeds up to 343 Mbps.Going with the cable modem option what’s the best router to pair this with for spectrum? We have Google Wifi router and it works pretty well with roughly 787 Mbps wifi for a 1 GIG ethernet connection.

There is pending legal action related to the SB6190 and other modems that use the intel Puma 6 chip due to latency issues with the modem, dos, and DNS issues. If you do not game/stream then you will probably not notice the issue. I have used multiple arris modems and have never had a problem until I got the SB6190. I replaced my first SB6190 with another SB6190 because I just thought I got a lemon. After having issues with the second SB6190 and googling I found out all SB6190 use the intel puma 6 chip and there are known performance and security issues with the puma chipset. Firmware updates can fix some of the issues, however, it is up to your ISP to select which firmware you use and you have no control over which firmware is loaded by your ISP.Regarding security:When playing some games, other players may see your public IP address. This is common to multiplayer games, and not an issue related to the SB6190. However, “…Effectively, if there’s someone you don’t like, and they are one of thousands upon thousands of people using a Puma 6-powered home gateway, and you know their public IP address, you can kick them off the internet…According to one engineer who spoke to El Reg on the issue, the flaw would be “trivial” to exploit in the wild, and would effectively render a targeted box useless for the duration of the attack… You send a stream of 200Kbps of TCP, UDP or maybe even ICMP to different port numbers… The device becomes immediately unresponsive. It comes back after you stop…It can be exploited remotely, and there is no way to mitigate the issue.”Note: The picture is not mine and is taken from badmodems. Reverse image search will return the original location.

I enjoy the fact that this modem/router (wireless) can handle the download speeds I pay for and it hit 300’s on cellular speed tests in the 5ghz range. 150’s in the 2.7ghz range consistently. I no longer have any dead zones in my 2 story home. The 32/8 with the AC 2350 hits the nail on the head. This configuration is perfect. It was plug and play with comcast, restart for software download then off to the races. Thank you, and I love the black option.

If you are looking to jump on the gigabit bandwagon for your home internet package, this is one of the best places to start. Among the current Docsis 3.1 modems on the market capable of handling these speeds, this model wins the prize when it comes to stability, speed, latency and hardware. We have been running it straight since our first test of the modem, without a single reboot yet–now going on 2 months (thus far). Our speeds have been consistent throughout this window and with no outages (knock on virtual wood) or any other red flags. As mentioned, it has the best hardware we have seen (including memory) in a Docsis 3.1 modem and it seems to reflect well with some of the Arris/Moto models we have benchmarked in the past–with the slight exception of the SB6190, which came close but latency had pulled that one down in performance some thanks to the PUMA chipset inside. This model sports a new chipset with low latency and the rest we have already pointed out.**If you have found our review helpful, please vote it as helpful below so I know. This helps me provide quality feedback in the future.

I recently increased our home internet speed to a tier that was “un-capped” for data. Coincidentally, this meant a jump to a maximum of 1gbps. My old modem, an Arris SB6190, was known to have problems at high speeds, so I picked up an Arris SB8200.We live pretty far into the country, and Wave is only supporting DOCSIS 3.0, so I wasn’t expecting 1gbps – maybe half of that speed, if we were lucky.Well, I was wrong. The speeds can be pretty quick – I’ve seen speed tests over 900mbps. I realize that websites throttle their output, and we don’t see any real difference in web browsing, but sometimes a download (new software, OS update) is really fast.I haven’t had any problems – works great with my Wave cable service in the Seattle area.My SNR is 36.5dB, or better, for all channels.

I have Shentel, with the modem I bought from them I would get 160 down on 5GHz but 20 down on 2.4GHz. Returned that, bought this and the TP-Link Deco M4 Whole Home WiFi and boom I have 130-170 speeds no matter where I am in the house. Very pleased.

Only reason it’s a 4 star is because it was shipped in the actual box. They just slapped a shipping sticker on the Arris box and sent it through the mail that way.The product is flawless, easy to set up, and perfect in our 1800 sq ft house…but with rising porch thieves some confidentiality about what’s in the box would have been nice

How do you remove the film around the edge of the bezel? The protector for the center faceplate has a tab that makes removal easy. The outer edge has film that holds on very tightly. I might have left it on except there were bubbles and bunches at the rounded corners. You cannot scratch the film off with fingernails or a plastic spurger tool.I am replacing a Motorola SB6121 (black) modem with this Arris SB6190 (white). Removing the film from the old modem must have been uneventful, as the film is removed and I was not ticked off to the point of writing a negative review. The modem is mounted on the inside vertical surface of a book cabinet. It is visible at the position of the notebook computer in my office and it look like hell.

I bought this cable modem before the articles came out discussing the problems with the chipset in this model. I replaced my ARRIS with a Netgear CM1000. See the attached graph for the before (ARRIS SB6190) and the after (with the Netgear CM1000) performance stats. You can see from the graph the latency is consistently lower (by 1ms) and the bandwidth is more stable, with fewer dips using the Netgear CM1000. The cutover is near the center of the graph. The blip of downtime is during the switchover.Don’t buy this modem. Do your research and find a model with the Broadcom chipset.

The installation was a breeze. Since it was a new modem, I had to register it with my ISP (Comcast) which was the most time consuming part. Even though it’s tiny, it has two Ethernet outlets. I have shared my test results using 6 different methods online.Note: The cheaper Arris model that supports Docsis 3.0 gave me much slower speeds when I upgraded to the Gigabit service.I have this a 4 star simply because the white makes it look very cheap and does not match the rest of my devices.

I didn’t expect to be excited about my new modem, but I am. This Arris modem is so small! I included a photo of the new Arris modem on top of my Motorola modem. Installation was a breeze, although the configurator on the Xfinity side wasn’t working so a dreaded phone call was necessary to activate the modem. I won’t blame Arris for that. I use the Google wifi mesh system and there was no issue connecting with the new modem. Our speed is what it should be and so far we are happy customers!

**MAKE SURE YOU’RE USING THE REVIEW FILTER OPTION FROM A WEB BROWSER TO GET THE RIGHT MODEL**SB8200: Set up with Cox on a gigabit service plan. It is somewhere between 800 and 1000Mbps on any given day regardless of time/local network load, see photo.Previously had another brand with the Puma chipset and was plagued by exactly the issues those units allegedly have across locations/ISPs. This unit has been very stable and consistent since the switch. I also no longer get “busy time of day” neighborhood massive slowdowns, perhaps because of the way Cox has rolled out their gigabit infrastructure, and/or because of the number and options this unit has for channels — if you’re not ready to pay for gigabit but wondering if you should future proof, this thing’s channel design is a good reason to get it even with a lower bandwidth plan. Sometimes I use a VPN and that has been a lot more reliable (staying connected, holding steady speed) since switching to this unit.Visually, the unit is compact, nice “clean” looking, well ventilated on all sides (feels slightly warm to the touch, at worst), and isn’t made of the dumb smudgy plastic that makes most electronics look awful after you handle them once. The lights would annoy in a bedroom but are otherwise modestly bright and pleasant, and give you good info about status at a glance.Setup was irritating but probably all on Cox’s end. They were very confused by it having 2 ethernet jacks. First unit they did something during phone support and could never get it to connect again, went through several layers of support, did full factory reset per Arris’s directions but unfixable. Had to replace unit but has been solid for a few months since. I do wish there were a marginally cheaper version without the 2nd jack which requires an entire extra ISP service plan/most consumers won’t use, but not a big deal.VERDICT:Would recommend for gigabit subscribers, anyone with “neighborhood busy hours,” and future-proofers.

I watched and bought this item when it finally went on sale due to having Xfinity Gigabit internet and not wanting to rent their modem. You need a Docsis 3.1 to be compatible with Any gigabit service. With a large household of 2 preteens, 2 adults and a toddler that uses an iPad, we easily have about 7-8 devices streaming or 4k gaming at once. We have a Linksys EA9500 V2 router that can handle the uplink from Docsis3.1Each phone on 5G will have about 500mb/s down, same for Xbox and Samsung QLED tv each. The desktop however is plugged in and will get the full benefit between 700 & 980 mb/s down. That said, this modem is the single point that allows or disallows this to happen, and I have only had to reboot it 3 times in 6 months. Mainly after Xfinity long outages. Therefore, downtime is rare

Spent an hour on the phone with my ISP (RCN) because I couldn’t get the modem to work. I took a look at the power situation and it looks like they sent the wrong power adapter for the modem. UGHHHHH. The modem says it requires 2 amps input to run and the power adapter provides 1.5 amp.Furthermore, three different RCN technicians have said they have frequent problems with this modem. DO NOT BUY. Going to buy the Netgear CM1000 instead.

Super easy install…plug coaxial cable & power cord in, & works. All 4 lights solid/on. 130mb/s wifi with 400mb/s internrt. Used booster extender wifi for 4k VR GAMING = got 760-866mb/s.But its awful…repeatedly disconnects.-only allows browsing such as google search…web site pop ups, & read comments on youtube.-all video youtube wont play…stuck@ load screen…-laptop with wired connection to modem says in photos…”no connection” & “unknown”But if i plug my old modem/router ARRIS SBG6782-AC…INTERNET WORKS!-combo with 4k VR router= works even faster! So yeah product is unacceptable performance(dont work)….despite all lights on=”works”Maybe bad quality/batch? Nah…Heard/read the chipset was to blame…& many other users experience same modem poor performance issues…something about Doscis 3.1 is not compatible/work well with internet service providers right now(even though the product box says compatible with SPECTRUM “my internet service provider”)Never gonna buy a stand alone modem again. Only modem/router in 1 body product like my old ARRIS that work with spectrum right now flawlessly….(except weak wifi speed further away 5000sq ft home 30 feet range=loss signal)

I purchased this modem to replace they Arris SURFboard SB6141. I am on Xfinity as was paying for the 300Mb service and was getting 170 download (not bad but not what I was paying for). After troubleshooting the rest of the system it came down to the modem limiting the download. So I purchased this modem. Pretty easy install, the hardest part was getting Xfinity to do their part. After the install and set up my download jumped to 350Mbps (this was limited by my plan with Xfinity not the modem). I did have an issue with my router recognizing the modem and did have to call the ARRIS help desk. After about 45 minutes they told me that switch was bad. It was not, I purchased a brand new gigabit switch and checked it prior to install. Turns out that the issue was me as I had switched two wires.

On January 25th I bought this modem. On January 27th it died completely and had to be returned to Arris. They drag their feet on getting you the RMA. It had no power at all, no lights completely dead. There RMA process takes 21 days. Advanced RMAs cost 25 dollars and it is non-refundable. I needed the modem, so I paid that 25 dollars. The second modem immediately starting having disconnecting issues. After 10 days and 3 comcast house appointments later. I had a Comcast Tech supervisor call ARRIS, while he was standing beside me. At this point we could prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that it was in fact another defective modem. You can log into this modem by going to the IP address 192.168.100.1. This allows you to read all of the levels of the modem. We verified they were all 100% correct. Yet the modem still died, frequently. This time, I wanted a refund. 2 dead modems is enough for me. This was March 3rd. I purchased it January 27th. They refuse to do a refund because it’s outside of 30 days. I could easily return it to the store, but I no longer have the same serial number I purchased from the store because it was returned to ARRIS. There RMA takes forever on purpose. So, the only option is an RMA. This time they again want me to pay the 25 dollar fee, even though its the second dead modem in a month and I paid it the first time. I talked to a supervisor at ARRIS (All support with them is in the Philippians and Mexico.) They refused to help at all. Saying that it doesn’t matter if it was verified with Comcast or not, this is their companies policy. You can watch the video and see it just keeps rebooting. Second garbage modem.Save yourself all the hassle I went though and Buy a Netgear. Likely a CM1200 for better performance.
