How to Reset Your Arris SurfBoard SBG10
Resetting your Arris SBG10 is one of the easiest ways to correct almost all common technical issues that you may experience over the life of your modem. It’s a super handy tool to have in your troubleshooting repertoire and can save you hours on the phone with your provider. Here’s how it’s done:
- Plug your modem in to the power supply and wait 2 minutes for it to boot up fully. You’ll know it’s booted fully when the wireless lights come on.
- Locate the reset button on the back of the modem. It’ll be on the same side where all the ports are located. Generally reset buttons on this kind of device will just be a tiny hole that may or may not be labeled.
- You’ll need a flattened paperclip or pen cartridge to do this next part. Press down and hold the reset button for 30 seconds with your modem still plugged in. You should feel a small dull click when you press in the reset button with your paperclip.
- Now wait a few minutes for your modem to reset and reboot itself. You’ll know it’s finished and ready to use when the WiFi lights come back on.
Tip: Still not resetting? Try just holding down for 15 or 20 seconds instead of the full 30. Some firmware versions differ on the number of seconds needed for a reset.

Andy –
Im using this product as a substitute for cable. This device can allow 4 more devices for wifi. It’s easy to install just downloaf the surfboard app and follow instructions, but make sure u have Wi-Fi first.
Paige snellen –
This product is not advertised to be used in the slightest. The fact that I received a completely used unit with a sticky note on it stating “Test Wifi Fail”, the product label moved and holding the sticky note into place is absolutely ridiculous. I would never have spent what I did if I knew this was going to be a used unit. Forewarning before you buy.
Esther Winner –
It was easy to set up. Seems like good quality and works great so far.
Customer –
It worked well for the first month, but then the WiFi feature of the router no longer works. I can only connect to internet via Ethernet cable
Abby –
I bought this to avoid paying my modem borrowing fee. This modem works well with Xfinity and WiFi signal is okay within my studio. However, setting up this with internet took me more than 1 hour which was painful… The manual instruction is not up-to-date and their mobile app did NOT work at all, so I have to tried different ways with my own feeling…Hope they can update their manual and include more details, then I will consider re-rating this product…

Kayla –
I purchased this router so that I would no longer have to pay my internet provider a monthly $10 equipment fee rental charge. My internet is through WOW. After doing some extensive research and speaking with my provider, I found that this modem/router combo should perfectly and it DID! Setup was extremely easy and I was able to get everything set up and working within 15 minutes. The instructions were easy to read and everything was clearly labeled so that I could easily and efficiently provide all the information my provider was asking. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would absolutely recommend this product to others!

Easy to install. Awesome speed. Plug and forget

XFINITY raised the rental rate for their equipment from $10 to $13 so i decided to just buy my own router. After lots of research I concluded the Arris SBG10 was the best option. I have the 250mbps tier package and so far this modem/router works perfect. The only issue I had was with the setup on an iPhone. It didn’t work with iPhone but it worked like a breeze with an android phone. It took less than 5 minutes after using the android for the set up process. I did it all online without having to call or chat with support. I also did a speed test with the XFINITY provided modem and the ARRIS modem (picture attached) and the 2.4G network was better on the arris than with the xfinity provided modem and the 5G network was practically the same. The price of this modem with a 4 year warranty is STILL cheaper than renting a modem from XFINITY for only 1 year. I’ve had them for 4, I should’ve bought my own compatible modem a long time ago. I would definitely recommend this to any XFINITY customer looking to save $156/yr in rental fees.
