I am going to give 1 star because I spent 3 hours on the phone with Spectrum trying to troubleshoot this thing when I installed it. Spectrum says its online but the thing doesn’t work. Now I have to wait a week to have someone come out and check it out. It should be easy to install…just like any other router/modem.

This is a good value buy. The speed is great! The cable company made me wait 1 hr and confirm 4x to disconnect their box and use this one. The modem itself was very easy to set up. I love the white color. One of our older laptops does not connect reliably because the signal is weaker for distance. The speed however is faster when connected. I could care less if a game in a farther room needs a Wi-Fi booster. That is an easy fix. I bought this for work and have not had any problems at all. It is more reliable than the cable one was for staying online. The box does run warm. Mine is well ventilated and no problems.

Absolute trash, do not buy. For months i have struggled with circa 1997 internet speeds during the day, despite having the fastest internet package. Weirdly, exactly 8pm they would go back to 200-300 mps. I called my cable company about this and they couldn’t find a problem. I bought a new modem and the problem was solved.

One of the best Arris SBG’s out there, despite its age. Most of the new SBGs use Puma chipsets and they are known for problems (ongoing lawsuit).
4 stars for two reasons:
– over time, the power supply wiring inside the device gets loose so if you need to unplug it, do it from the wall outlet/power strip NOT from the back of the modem
– no more firmware updates from Arris so this could cause an issue with your ISP, especially if the modem is yours that you bought and not ISP supplied. your ISP may be making firmware updates on their end which may not register with your device, so there could be issues there. and Arris warranty expires quickly so no help from their end either.

I confirmed over 400 Mbps from Cable Co. using the ethernet cable but could never get over 200 Mbps using the 5GHz or the 2.4GHz wifi. Had to troubleshoot with manufacturer and return unit to manufacturer for a replacement. Meanwhile I need a temporary cable modem while this unit is being replaced. I recommend using separate units (Cable modem from Cable Co and a personally owned Wi-Fi router. A separate Wi-Fi router provides increased flexibility on antenna placement.
