Quality Voice Services & Phone Lines
This model features 2 built-in phone lines. Since the TG1672G has 2 separate phone lines, it can be used for both a telephone and security system, or with 2 separate phone lines. Additionally, the two lines are supported by this model’s built-in battery backup which allows your device to make and receive calls, even during a power outage.
Time Warner Cable & Spectrum customers please note: These carriers do not have firmware to support activation of phone on this model however, if you have this model installed, they will allow you to keep your previously rented modem for free (with not recurring monthly rental fee) since this model does have integrated phone lines. Please contact us if you have any questions about how this works, or if you’re having issues getting your device activated.
Arris TG1672G Wireless
The TG1672G wireless cable modem features Dual-Band concurrent networks broadcasting at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This feature allows your home to experience the benefits of enhanced signal strength and coverage, while also being able to enjoy high-speed data from anywhere in your home. Reduce spotty coverage and dead zones with the 2.4GHz band, and experience the best speed potential with the 5 GHz. No need for additional wiring, messy cables or clunky extenders everywhere, just use this modem’s built-in wireless!
Arris Battery Backup Capability
In addition to all the other amazing features this model offers, another thing that sets this device apart is its built-in battery backup. Batteries are important with telephone modems because they keep your phone online, even during a power outage. This prevents you from being in a situation where there’s no power, but you need to contact emergency services. This life-saving technology is conveniently built right into this model, so all you need to take advantage of it is just the battery (sold separately). Seems to be a pretty solid unit, It’s what Time Warner gave me to use and as soon as next payday rolls around I’m snatching one up to drop the rental fee they impose. Plus this is a fantastic price for a Modem/router with these specs.
nsmith01tx –
Works well for the internet connection, but be aware that Time Warner Cable won’t use it for phone – they have some proprietary stuff on their phone modems.
Customer –
works perfect
Donald B. –

Arun P. –
Excellent modem, I did not face any issues. Great to price to save monthly bill.
Kantilal Mavani –
Timely arrived &Working fine.
John J Watson –
I had a Time Warner tech tell me the unit was bad. The supplier said they would refund my purchase price. I decided to try another T.W.C tech and she was able to activate the unit. I had to use there unit for the phone service, but they did take off the monthly charge for thier modem.
Peter –
Works well,

Important note: All of my comments are on the used or refurbished models. I never bought a new one.To replace my TWC. I ended up having to call, and though that took the usual amount of time, working perfectly, and no more rental fee!!!UPDATE: Purchased another one for a different location. Went through the same setup. I have found that sometimes configuring a printer or Roku did not work. I got frustrated enough to reinstall my old netgear router for the wireless stuff and am using this device as a modem instead of a modem/router.ANOTHER UPDATE: Wanting to put one of these at a third location, I ordered my third one. It arrived with the coax free spinning and loose. Wanted a replacement, they refunded. Had to reorder and meet the 50 dollars for free shipping again…it arrives sounding like everything inside was broken into little pieces. Sent back for a refund.

This is the same unit Time Warner Cable is upgrading to in my area. It was activfated by TWC in a couple of minutes and everything works very well with the exception of the telephone, so, be advised, if you are thinking of purchasing one of these units to escape TWC’s high rental fees, and you have TWC’s telephone service, you will have to continue to use their old modum ,at no charge here, for the phone. I am pleased with TG1672G Gateway, though not real pleased by the additional clutter of TWC’s work around solution to the telephone.

The Arris TG1672G met my expectations, as the unit works great. The only glitch was that Time Warner had to put software updates into the box. No big deal! Thanks.

It does the job

I bought this to replace my exact time warner modem, it works great but if you have phone service you will have to keep the old modem- although you no longer pay the monthly fee.

Harry –
It’s okay & serves the purpose. However, I was told by Time Warner that they do not authorize their customers to purchase that specific Ariss model, as it is only for them to issue out to their customers.
Customer –
it does NOT work for us
Lily Li –
Very good
Customer –
This product saves me money every month. Great buy works very well.

Shipment arrived quickly. Big disappointment in that Time Warner can not use this unit to activate my phone – period, no way, no how. I called back numerous times like the instructions say if you run into that problem. I even found an article about it on Time Warner’s site that the phone option could not be activated. This is an identical unit to the one they supplied, and the seller says it has the phone option in it. What has happened is that Time Warner is using their modem for the phone only which does relieve the $10.80 per month charge to rent theirs for the internet. They do not charge to use their modem for phone only. Now I have two modems running electric and also taking up extra space on the shelf, however I am saving the rental charge on the modem which is great, because in 5 months I will in effect have this unit paid for in the savings I am realizing. Bought two of these, one for us and one for our son who also has Time Warner, but he has no phone option, so his is working great and he just returned TW’s modem to start his monthly savings as well. Overall, everything is good and we are pleased except for the phone problem.
Siwar R. –
It does a great job, I had problems with the upgrade and with 2.5 broadband, but other than that works pretty good with TWC.
Donald J. LaCaze Jr. –
Works great and is perfect for my needs.
Chad F –
Worked just fine with XFINITY
Wiseguy –
Works a lot better than Time Warner’s standard issue . And saved $15.00 a month .
Customer –
Purchased only as a modem because I was displeased with the cable company’s device and their fee. I have a much better wifi router. The device I received looked near new and worked according to specs. An Arris 1672 is an Arris 1672 and should have filled the need. So much of this is an endorsement for Amazon and the vendor for providing a product as described.
flower –
Only thing I had to do was change the default channel of auto to a number. Great product. However there is no technical support except YouTube. Which is fine with me.
Voon –
This product works well with my local internet/phone company, Entouch. The transition to both phone and internet was smooth, took the technician 10 minutes to get it installed. Don’t rent, buy… you ended up saving money in the long run… unless you are one of the people who likes to shop for new internet/phone company every year.
nasa.gov/JWST –
No issues at all. And the Battery was included.
AM –
Did not work with Time Warner Cable. Modem kept rebooting every 5 minutes.
Wilson Li –
The router works fine and the vendor got it to me very promptly. One thing to note for Time Warner / Spectrum customers like me who are trying to get their monthly equipment rental fee removed: Spectrum apparently requires a Spectrum modem for their phone line. You need to go to a Time Warner store and talk to one of their techs. They should give you a cable signal splitter and additional cables for free, and add the MAC ID of your new modem to their system. (Doing so will immediately disconnect the Internet signal to your current modem, which caused some confusion at home when I did this.) Connect the splitter to the cable where the signal comes in from, then connect the two modems to the out end of the splitter. (Make sure to mark which modem is which, e.g. with a Post-it.)End result of all this is that you’ll keep the previous modem from TWC / Spectrum as a phone modem, and use this one for Internet. TWC will still remove the equipment rental fee. No, it doesn’t make much sense from a policy standpoint, but I checked my bill this month and it’s $15 lower, even though I technically still have their equipment.
Joseph T. Zupi –
Arrived quickly and as described.
Muyuan Michael Ma –
No problem installing it whatsoever. And it’s working since day one.
STEWART TAYLOR –
Excellent way to save on your cable bill and works just fine.
Customer –
It’s a good product for the cost.
MTav –
Arrived defective.
R. Jenner –
This a fast modem, that’s why the 4 stars, it is like pulling hens teeth to activate how ever, it took me 3 calls and over an hour with Comcast in the end it is worth it, just remember you have to go through teck support at Comcast and they will have to do a Manuel activation and that takes some time.P.S. for now that’s the way you’ll have to do it they update there approved modem lists twice a year fingers crossed
Mary Jackson –
This modem works great with Time Warner and was told it will also work with Spectrum that is why I bought it. It also has Wi-fi and that work great also. It was pricey but it will pay for itself at $10.00 per month savings
Mark W. –
It Works great and it saves me $10 a month on my cable bill.
Juiceman –
Works well for now. Well see how long it last without any problems. This works with Twc/spectrum, i made sure before I bought it.
Customer –
Works great!
Danny Jones –
Purchased it to replace the Time Warner modem but found out it does not support IP telephone service from Time Warner, even though it is advertised as Time Warner supported, Time Warner says onlyTHEIR MODEMS will work with phone service.
jamela –
Fast modem. Bought to save money on monthly rental from Spectrum. There is no telephone jack however and I had to still use the old box. Now I’ve got 2 boxes. Spectrum agreed to not charge me for it but I haven’t had my bill so I don’t know if they honored the agreement.

Actually the same my cable provider leased so I pretty much knew it was right. Fulfills all my needs. Wireless internet strong and sweet.
Customer –
It worked well with TWC for internet. However it cannot be programmed to work for phone/fax. I visited the store of TWC to get free splitter.I keep the same item from TWC for phone line.
goutham –
Works perfectly.
Carlos R Gutierrez –
works beautiful
Customer –
This modem is recommended as an acceptable replacement by wide open west. Just like the other reviews the land line will not work. Also the battery is bad, Flashing light. Amazon wont replace the battery, just the entire unit, which means no internet and having the cable company come out again. Talked with manufacture Arris and this is their response. We do not currently offer end-user support for the TG1672G due to this device being released as a service provider only device and not available for retail purchase. You may wish to contact your service provider for assistance on this issue. They are also the ones who would provide technical support on this device. So if you purchase this item to save some money in the long run, be careful
mlh –
Probably a nice modem, but does NOT work on Comcast Xfinity.
Chem Student –
Product was defective. Spent 4 hours trying to activate it with Spectrum technical support but product would not work.
Senyor Juan Pablo –
Good product. Easy to work on. Plug and call your internet provider, then you’re set.
R. Rochford –
worked on Comcast well phone getting my 200mb down love it…u have to call in and have them add the closet model to the model give them the mac and MTA if you have phone service an it will be added to there system
Jordan Gross –
I thought that TWC would allow me to return their modem, but since this is a “third party” modem (Same exact model as the one they gave) I had to keep the old broken one for home phone service. TWC doesn’t charge you the $10 rental fee when you’re only using their modem for phone service.
Southern Charm –
I bought this modem because it is IDENTICAL to the one I was leasing from Time Warner Cable/Spectrum. Please be advised that if you do the same and have digital phone service with TWC/Spectrum, you HAVE to keep the other modem. They will not let you use this one for phone even though it is a TELEPHONY modem. However, they state that I am no longer being charged the monthly fee for the “internet” modem because it is now being used just as the “phone” modem. That’s right. I still HAVE the original modem, which is the same as this one, because TWC won’t put the software on it to handle telephony service. Yet, somehow, it’s all of sudden “free” instead of costing me $10 a month even though I STILL HAVE IT! It’s the dumbest thing ever…I would return this and buy just a plain ol’ internet modem, but it was such a hassle dealing with TWC to get everything setup that I can’t even be bothered to go through that again. So, be advised; if you have TWC digital phone and internet, save yourself a few bucks and skip the telephony modem (this one) and just buy a plain old internet-only modem because then you’ll get to keep the old one for free.Yes, it’s dumb. I’ve said that already but, well, it IS Time Warner/Spectrum, so what else do you expect?
jennifer alldredge –
This was part of my TWC/Spectrum internet 300Mbs. Wired to my computer I get 300 Mbps. 5ft away with wifi it’s 200mbps. 30 ft away good luck. It usually gives me 0.1mbps up to 20mbps. It constantly fluctuates. So I suggestive if you have a big house don’t get this. If you have a new York apartment go for it.
N. Wheeler –
Also it is immense, cheap feeling, and runs so hot I almost burned myself unthreading the coax.
Alan Hyde –
Works as advertised.
Rob Miser –
Has operated well! Had to work with ISP to update firmware. Was not expected! All is well so far.
Randy –
Product works as advertised.
Hector M. Alfonso –
no issues
Lance M. –
This modem has no password. I tried entering the pre shared key, as well as every other number on the modem and nothing worked. The password is the only problem and without it I can’t access the internet. I am returning this item immediately!
Faarih A. Lateef –
This item work great with Time Warner and Spectrum
Customer –
Easy set up. Took longer with my internet provider to activate it than to set it up. Just keep in mind that even though it has the phone jack on it, you still have to keep the modem from your internet/phone company for your phones to work and you will need a splitter to connect the two.
Linn Ashton –
I like the unit.It has all the necessary ports, usb, ethernet…etc and a backup battery available for telephone backup in case of power outage.I was dissapointed that I couldnt interface with my cable company (ZITO) to get unit up and running. Not sure why.Even their tech couldnt get it to work.I suspect some proprietary software from my cable co.is the reason. Too bad, i really liked the unit.
skinnycat –
I purchased this item to save $10.00 a month on Spectrum cable bill ! it was a little difficult to install, came with NO instructions. Had to go to wallmart at 10:00 pm to get a splitter and another short piece of coax cable I use a modem for land line from Spectrum. Had to call Spectrum to switch over to this modem. Every thing is working fine now. well worth the money. Took couple hours to install.
milcan –
NOT FOR OPTIMUM
R. A. Brewer –
TWC/Spectrum suggested i guy this clone of the 1 they provided so it would/could save $10.50 off my mothly bill they said, so i did, connected a splitter , since you have to keep the TWC modem for free to allow the phone service to work, a proprietary issue, so their duplicate now-free modem sits next to this one i bought for around $30, and connected a cheap dollar splitter & two cheap $1 pieces of 1-foot coaxial pieces into each modem, mine & theirs (now free, for phone only; while this i bought runs the internet, saving me 10.50 per month) but the static from the cheap splitter and/or coaxial pices caused the phone to constantly be static-y or clippy & go out each day, needing the modem for phone to be reset until i called TWC-Spectrum, who sent out a technician for free to replaces the crappy dollar store splitter & coaxial pieces. Summary, works great, saves me 10.50/mo. So it paid for itself in under 3 months! Dependable, no problems in the 6 months i have used it so far & bought it used. Spectrum or your compatible cable company MUST set this up remotely over the internet connected while you have existing service ideally, and with you on the phone to 24/7 tech.support. Dont buy this unless your cable company says it will work with their service (apparently people said it wont work with comcast — but i had spectrum, who told me to get a clone of this to save $10.50/mo. renting theirs for inet/TV). (after that, save even more by scaling back to the $30 starter cable tv (they also have the ONLY cheap option for phone service through coaxial IF keeping fax capability is important to you, as faxing is NOT possible through a VoIP phone that runs over the internet), then also to maybe keep DVR for $16 (may already hold either 100hrs or 200 hrs of your Fav shows you ”taped”) & then you get to keep the handy channel guide on screen, but you can get HBO for 5 not 15 bucks through direcTV-NOW for 35.00/mo. or Sling for 20 or 25/mo., & a free Roku WiFi wireless Express from either of them or an amazon firestick on here(around $30 ea), but only if prepaying 2 or 3 mos(slingTV or DirecTV NOW)– which is still WAY cheaper than Spectrum/s tv crap-deals. ) ((Showtime was the BEST TV add-on ($10/mo.) through a Roku/Firestick/Playstation/Google device– 8 channels you get for $10/mo! & a start-over from beginning feature, & now a $5 Cloud DVR srvc.)at Sling, is optional., bu HBO sucked b/s only 1 lousy channel for $15; should be prepaid HBO through Roku device, not Sling service within Roku– but BOTH Roku device & slingTV & amazon firestick too i assume all have tons of free channels, or at least the 1st 2 do, SLingChannel & DirecTV NOW, each have their own free content channel, & the Roku device comes with a free Roku channel, movies & TV, free stuff to watch, mostly older stuff….)
Deano –
Works well, easy to set up.
Tessie C. –
Works great.
Mike Kitsko –
It took 3 modems to get one that worked by the installer , and this was the upgraded one. We get streaming video and audio from Youtube and have no problems, also facetime with some freezing at times. My only complaint is there is no input for battery backup incase power is lost. It takes about 10 minutes to come back online. It’s been in since May of 2016 with no problems, and covers our whole 2000 sq ft house.
A 2014 –
Like new. As described. Works perfectly.
Trona Blaha –
It is working out great. Just what I needed.
SanfilipoMom –
The internet part worked, but the telephony part would not work, even after hours of tech support. I would not recommend this device.
WK –
worked great. Optimum Online / Altice business class 150Mbps with static IP
