This new Linksys eliminates having to use a Wi-Fi modem and a router. If you have cable internet service with high speed internet, this is the machine for you. You can turn in your provider’s equipment and not pay rental fees. You can get speeds up to 1.9gb on Wi-Fi. Pretty darn fast. It is out of the box ready plug and play. It doesn’t get much easier. You can reduce the footprint of the old modem and router with this slim unit. It works with all the major cable companies. One thing it isn’t compatible with – fiber to the house. Linksys has been a giant in the modem field for years and is updating to continue to be that giant. Note: there is a picture of the back side where you plug in the cable and the internet data cables (4 )

Wow! Something that worked immediately out of the box.It took me longer to disconnect power and cables from my old cable modem (Motorola SB6121) and my Belkin 621 wi-fi router than it was to setup and get this thing working.I followed the quick-start instructions:1. attach coax cable from wall to back of device2. plug in power3. I have a wired connection from my PC to this modem, so I then went to the config page in my browser and followed the steps for Begin button4. Took me directly to Xfinity where I put in my account information and activated the modem with my accountI was up and running in less than 5 minutes.PLUS…I notice a large performance improvement over my previous, older devices.+ Getting 2x+ the download speed. I”m pretty sure I’m only paying for 25Mb/s download but am getting closer to 60Mb/s (see screenshots)+ Getting 2x+ the upload speeds. I was getting on my kids computer between 1.5 to 3Mb/s on their wifi connection, but as you can see from the pictures I’m averaging 5.5Mb/s.Also, I configured this thing with the same 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz names and passwords as before. So all my devices connected automatically without me having to go through and reset phones, tablets, blu-rays, other wifi connections in the house. This was a HUGE time-saver!!Love this device in how easy everything was.******UPDATE 5-days later*********Well found out from all our devices that one DragonTouch brand tablet and my $200 Huawei Honor 5 phone, could not hold a connection to this router. Motorola cable model router with Belkin wifi router had no troubles. After 1hr on the phone with Linksys support (their Support person was great by the way, but said there was nothing more they could do) and 4 more hours of trying every fix for android devices or android phones that connect to wifi then immediately disconnect. . .I finally gave up and plugged in the Belkin wifi router into this Linksys, just so these two devices can use wifi. Some of the fixes that I couldn’t change was to turn on/off IPv6 = no such setting in this router. The configuration menu for this router seems limited, at least when it came to trying to enable/disable various options in order to troubleshoot and when compared to other Linksys routers. Minus a star after this experience.

I love the Linksys High Speed DOCSIS 3.0 24×8 AC1900 Cable Modem Router! Any time you can turn two systems into one and actually make it work better, faster, and more efficiently, it’s a win! I use mine with Comcast Xfinity and it works flawlessly. Plug and play straight out of the box, no setup needed. Super high speed WIFI for easy and fast downloading or streaming of videos. The Linksys High Speed DOCSIS 3.0 24×8 AC1900 Cable Modem Router comes with extra ethernet ports, as well. High performance at a decent price.

I always approach tinkering with my home wireless network with some trepidation. Our wi-fi, consisting of one Apple AirPort Express) as a base router and another as a signal repeater, has been quite finicky and not always as reliable as we’d prefer. We’d made our peace with this state of affairs for a few years now, but when Amazon offered us this combination cable modem slash wireless router, we figured we’d try a new setup with newer hardware. We’re very glad we did.1) We get our internet through Xfinity/Comcast. In the past, when we wanted to change our cable modem, we’d first have to contact Comcast and have someone at their end register the new modem before we could connect it to our coaxial cable; not anymore. This modem was built and programmed specifically to be able to negotiate the registration with Xfinity on its own, and the instructions explained quite clearly how to do this. Admittedly, the software connection with the modem and Xfinity didn’t work as described the first time I tried, but it worked just fine the second time. The modem comes with more sophisticated manual configuration options that I chose not to take advantage of.2) Once the modem was set up properly, setting up the router function was also a breeze. The instructions were again simple, and well-written. Interestingly enough, the router is designed so that you can set it up to function on its own even without the modem, say, as a network repeater to extend an existing wireless network.3) By default, the router broadcasts two networks – at 2.4 Gh, and at a stronger and more modern 5 Gh. When you first set up the router, you get to choose both networks’ names – it may be possible to give both the same name, but I didn’t try; I named my 5G network by appending a “_5G” to the name I used for my 2.4. (Make sure to remember the exact spelling and capitalization of what you called your network on prior hardware and its password, though, or you will have to reattach every single device.)4) The device has two added bonuses. First, it has four ethernet LAN ports to attach wired devices. Our prior main router, an AirPort Express, only has one output ethernet port.5) Second, and more astonishing, this product is also a potential NAS box (!) – connect a hard drive via the device’s USB port, and POOF!, it’s a network drive. I can’t necessarily speak for computers running Windows or Linux, but on OSX, I connected to my new network-attached drive as follows: the device appeared on my finder window sidebar as a “Shared” computer. Double-clicking on the shared “computer” revealed the connected drive, which I in turn double-clicked to open as I would open any other drive.I only just received this product, so I can’t yet attest to its longer-term durability, but this far, I am *very* impressed with how easy it was to set up and use, and how much better my home wireless is.I leave with one last observation, not necessarily germane to this product so much as what I did with my two AirPort Expresses. I wanted to use them both as signal repeaters, to make my wireless signal even better – as it turns out, our cable input is at the opposite end of our house from our bedrooms and the office where we keep our printers, so we needed to extend our signal in our prior setup. As I should have known, Apple products don’t play well with others, and their networking devices are no exception. You can set up an AirPort Express to “join a network,” i.e., to receive a wireless signal to transmit through an ethernet cable to a device without its own wireless capability, but you can’t set it up to extend a network whose original signal does not itself derive from another Apple device. Luckily I had another older wireless repeater lying around to extend my 2.4Gh network, and hopefully my 5G network won’t need extending. We’ll see.

I am a Comcast Xfinity cable customer and can report that this Modem / Router combination from Linksys works great. Setup was simple and it has allowed me to return the Comcast supplied Wifi modem and router so I will save money on my monthly bill.No reason not to like this.
Infinite Mind –
I was so psyched to get this, right before ordering Xfinity service. This modem is completely compatible but I must confess it’s the Xfinity tech guy set this up not I. He said it’s rather easy to install and so far works good and easily manages our household wireless needs with the Xfinity service. We use 3-5 devices without any glitches!

BUY YOUR MODEMI’ve been getting tired of paying rent to my cable cabal and have been looking for a good modem/router/wifi. The standard cost of renting a wireless modem is about $120 a year, so I’ve paid thousands by now for something that would have cost about 10% of what I’ve thrown away!EASY TO INSTALLMany people are skittish about owning tech that they don’t understand fully. This modem is drop dead easy!If you pay your cable bill online then you’re set.Plug in the cable, connect your computer (via ether net cable) and power, turn on.It will open a display on your computer and walk you through very easy steps to not only connect to the internet, but set up various connections at different speeds. It will even let you open a Guest connection using a separate password and you can choose the speed (for those who may gobble up more than you’d like). This works as a home, small business, and anyplace else that standard home use connections are desired.Save yourself a ton of cash and do this.

It is working well with my UVerse connection. Good speeds, good connectivity, easy admin controls and settings.

Finally a 24×8 modem/AC router combo that’s not severely compromised. As some of you may or may not know, modem/router combos have always lagged behind discrete modem and AC routers in terms of speed and features. The first 24×8 modem was released many months ago. Usually the newest fastest modems using the latest technology is released first…followed by the integrated modem/router combos. This is why I’ve been using a separate modem and router for the past year. Now that this model is available I really have no need for the separates as this consolidates all the wiring and functions into a single unit. This model doesn’t sacrifice speed either as it supports the AC protocol. I have 300Mbps internet so a 24×8 is required to get that speed. In terms of features and functions it has all of the standard items on a typical mid-range AC router. USB port is 2.0 not 3.0 so minus one star. In actual use my connected devices performed great as you’d expect from Linksys’ proven router implementations.

We are Spectrum (formerly Time Warner) customers and although this isn’t on their list of approved modems (yet), it works just fine. The process for setting it up was straight forward, the directions were clear to me and I’m pretty sure they would be easy for people who are not techno proficient to follow. I chose the “manual setup” option and again, each step was easily followed. With some service providers you can complete the whole process without a phone call. With Spectrum (for the manual setup at the time of this writing) you have to call in to activate the device and give the technician the S/N and MAC numbers, clearly noted on both the modem and the quick start guide. You will need those numbers, plus your Spectrum account number and the phone number linked to the account. We’re getting excellent speed and coverage (small house) without any glitches. I love not paying a rental fee to our service provider for a modem. I love not having an extra plugged in device and accompanying wires to accommodate wifi. I love simplicity.UPDATE: I got a new cell phone (LG G6) and the phone crashes constantly. I got a replacement phone. It, too, crashes constantly. Turns out it’s the modem. If it’s connected to other wifi, it’s fine. If there’s no wifi, the phone is fine. If it’s THIS wifi modem, it’s a problem. I can’t figure out how to make it stop crashing AND continue using this modem. As well, Spectrum (formerly Time Warner) now lists this modem as “minimally compatible.”I’ve lowered the rating from five star to three. It might be great at your house. That it picks one device to exclude from the internet or proper operation makes it not great at ours. We’re replacing it.

Fast! Fast! Fast! setup!! I am very pleased with this high speed modem. The Quick start guide is super easy and walks you through the process. If you are already connected to a high speed cable modem from your Internet carrier, you don’t even need to do the first steps. You can just disconnect the cables and power source from the original modem and hook them up in exactly the same way to the new modem (using the new power plug so you can return the old power plug). After you are hooked up, all you have to do is open a browser and type in number and letter combination they provide in the Quick start guide into the search part of your browser and hit “enter.” on the screen that comes up select the “Quick” tab and just follow the step-by-step instructions. Once you are set up you can change the password if you wish. This modem does the job and if you want control of your modem this is the way to go. Even if you plan to keep using the modem that came with your service, a back up sure beats waiting for the repair person to show up. Linksys is a well established name in connection ware and this high speed modem is in keeping with that reputation.
Customer –
Spectrum customer here and an IT pro. This devices firmware is supplied by your ISP. So if you have any compatibility issues (normally addressed by firmware updates) your at the mercy of your ISP to get updated firmware. I have a Nexus 6p and Google Pixel XL that have issue and I have the latest firmware. Your luck may differ or newer firmware may be available by the time you read this, however all devices concerned here have been out for a while… A Chrome Cast and Chrome Cast Ultra, as well as two laptops worked juts fine. Not worth fighting my ISP for a potentially simple fix so this is getting returned.

Unfortunately, I was unable to use this router. We have Cox. After a call to the cable company, we found out that they are not using this particular router until August. For now, I’m going to give this router a hopeful 5 star review. I will update it after we are able to use it.*** UPDATE: 09-03-2017 As of today, it is still not supported by Cox.

I recently had cable internet installed into my home. I had a coworker help me choose a decent modem/router and this is what he chose. So far, it’s working flawlessly. I have steel mesh and plaster walls to which my WiFi dongle couldn’t reach my PC. This time, I had the internet installed in the room where the PC is and hoped the Xbox could have a decent connection through my walls. When testing with the cable guy, it worked no problem! Everywhere in the house can be reached! Awesome so far!

I wanted to give this one some time before writing the review, but I figure I’ve learned about all I can.The first week was rough. Set-up was VERY easy, but every night my phone and laptop would lose wi-fi. This wasn’t my ISP, because my Fire TV was hooked up to the unit via ethernet and has never once lost connection since I received this modem/router combo. I tried changing the channels within the router and would get a great connection that would (inevitably) drop off very late in the evening. From here I contacted Linksys’ customer support who were actually very quick to respond with possible options. They told me to completely reset the unit with the small pen-hole button on the back, which has (for over a week) been totally fine.I still get that weird hiccup where I just need to refresh the page, but I think that’s just because this unit is so much better than my previous Comcast-provided modem/router.I am very happy that I’m getting a slightly faster connection (about 5mb down on average for me), but OVERJOYED to be saving ten bucks a month that no one should have to pay Comcast for their ridiculous rental fee.4/5
JeffM –
I’ve had this router installed about a month now.. easy install, solid performance, and it runs circles around the Cable Co provided Modem / WAP device. Holding that last star open for improvement.. I would like to see a better user interface, and a little more ‘advanced’ capabilities in it. Other than that? Solid device!
B. C. Christopher –
I am sure it would work for internet, but doesn’t have the phone capability that I needed so I returned it. It’s not a direct replacement for the one that Comcast rents.

Setup of the Linksys AC1900 High Speed Cable Modem is simple. Plug in the coax cable, plug in power, connect wired computers, get new modem registered with your cable internet company.I haven’t noticed any speed improvements in my network but I had a fairly new cable modem prior to upgrading to this Linksys Modem. If you are looking for a new DOCSIS 3 cable modem and want a wireless router the Linksys AC1900 is an excellent choice.
Sai –
It didn’t work. The service plan is 100MBPS, The speeds it showed with wired 70MBPS and wireless 52 MBPS also my HTC phone keeps dropping when I connect to this wifi network. waste of time
Roxy –
Easy to install, read all the instructions first. I got trigger happy and selected all the check boxes and had to go through advanced settings. After I reset the modem and followed the instructions it was easier and it has been working great with awesome service.
rareoopdvds –
When this works, I love it. It is fast and strong in its connection. I got this to save on my monthly rental bill, getting rid the modem the ISP sent me so I no longer had to pay that extra amount. Set up was easy and connection was established quick. The speed of which I was getting was similar to the modem Comcast sent me. I would say about a week later, I would not get any connection. Now this has happened a handful of times since. The modem would either reboot itself, or just stop all together in which I would have to manually reboot. I am not sure why this is happening, as the modem that Comcast installed my service with had no issues. Linksys is a high quality brand and I have used them in the past with success, however, I am not sure this is their best release.

Constantly disconnects and you can’t manually update the firmware. Don’t waste your money.
Furry Robot –
Mine also constantly disconnected about 1-2x every single day. After playing around with it for about a week and a half, I returned this puppy and bought a ARRIS SURFboard AC1900. The Arris surfboard installed like a dream and was easy to use right out of the box.I took a chance because of the Linksys name but don’t do it if you have Comcast. This thing blows!

This router gateway can only connect with Windows device. None of my IOS or Android device can connect to it. Their support try to help, get all the log files and other information, but they said they don’t know when it could be fixed. Please think twice before you order this router gateway. Good Luck.08/07/2017 – Update – Linksys Technical Support sucks… I am already upset with the problems of this piece of junk. Linksys support is even worse than I can imagine. Just called them and answered by a technician, Sophi. All she did was put me on hold and finally gave me another phone number to call and it is disconnected. One of the basic functions of a gateway router is able to connect to IOS or Android devices, to me, their testing team did not perform a through test and ship the product. Linksys produces untested products and provides unaccepted support. Linksys is forever out of my shopping list.

So very disappointed in this modem. Not sure if it’s a defective unit or not but I have to reboot itseveral times per day. I got so frustrated that I just put it back in the box, bought another brand & is this one now collecting dust. Save yourself time & money & buy something else.

Robert Stallman –
Overall: This unit has poor reliability– constantly losing the connection and needing to be rebooted. This unit also has poorer signal range than a Comcast Xfinity-provided rental cable-modem. I have spent hours with Linksys customer service but they have been unable to improve the situation. I will be returning the unit and finding another brand. Background:I purchased a new CG7500 modem router from Amazon (with my own money– this is not a paid review) about 2 months ago (June 2017) to replace a Comcast Xfinity-provided unit that worked without any issue– that router had good signal range, good speed, and good reliability–rarely needed any sort of reset. I just wanted to stop paying the Comcast rental fee. For the CG7500, I am operating with the latest Firmware (version .016). I have both wired and wireless devices connected to the Modem/Router.Setup: Setup of the CG7500 and connection to my Comcast Xfinity ISP was easy– I did not need to contact Linksys for help in setup. That was really nice.Problems:1) The signal range was far worse than my Xfinity modem/router. I have a large house with the modem centrally located in the middle of the ground floor, but the signal does not reach the edges of the house upstairs and downstairs (neither the 5Ghz or the 2.4Ghz). My previous modem/router installed in the exact same place had no trouble providing that signal range. With the help of the Linksys technical help, we tried multiple frequencies to improve the signal, but none really improved the situation.2) Regular disconnections. My CG7500 loses the internet and/or stops broadcasting a signal on a daily/hourly basis. Usually unplugging the unit and plugging it back in would help, but not for very long. This problem has become even more frequent over the last month. My previous Comcast Xfinity modem/router had no such issues.Speed: When working properly, the speed of the CG7500 on 5Ghz is good, with download speed at over 250MB/s and upload at 30MB/s, consistent with the speed of Internet service I pay Comcast for. On the 2.5Ghz signal my download speed is very inconsistent (but always below the 5GHz speed at the same distance from the router) and doesn’t seem to provide any extra signal range versus the 5Ghz band(ugh!)Update: Linksys accepted my return and refunded my money without much hassle. I do appreciate that they made it right after we couldn’t get the product to function as desired.

We have Spectrum Cable internet and over 6 devices connected (TV, DVR, PS4, computers and smartphones). Works great with our internet provider and devices.

This is a preliminary review after about 10 days of using the new router. When it works, it works well. It was difficult to set up. The instructions are not complete enough to guide you through the process. I had to speak with a customer service rep for assistance.Last evening the router decided to forget all the network programming that I had done under the guidance of the service rep. I had to reset the modem and then go through the process again. When it is not working correcting, many devices do not “see” the router network and therefore cannot connect. We will see if things improve or get worse.
Customer –
It worked fine for 1 month, and now the network keeps disappearing. Waste of $180
Wile E. Cayote –
This router looks nice and on paper it hits all the marks but I still found it a pain to use. It seems to continuously drop connection, even in a small apartment (with my Android devices). It was so bad that I feel like I don’t want to review it at all. I thought I may have a defective unit but then I read some of the reviews and it seems to be a widespread problem. It was able to replace a Charter modem, but not without the Charter technician coming out to set things up. Probably more to do with Charter than this modem though.I don’t know what the problem with wi-fi connection is. Perhaps the internal antenna? Anyway, it needs some work. I don’t recommend this product until the bugs are worked out (which should have been before it shipped).

I was so disappointed in this Linksys Highspeed AC1900 that I went back to a Comcast-provided router. The major problem was the number of times my internet went down — something that virtually never happened in all my years using my prior Comcast router/modems. I had to reset it several times a week and I had to reset my range extender almost daily. Since I’ve returned to my Comcast product, I haven’t had any problems. At least it wasn’t a total waste — to get me to return to my prior service level, Comcast offered a great deal, which included a free router so I ended up saving around $60 per month and don’t pay for the router. I would not recommend this product.
Angie –
This arrived and I wasn’t ready to go through the process of installing it for awhile. (The last one from another brand I had to call customer DISservice for help) Well, the modem we had from Cox finally went T.U. Two days without internet as I tried to figure out what was wrong with our service. (Did I pay the bill??) I finally found the Cox modem was hot as hell and had just burned up apparently. Enter the LinkSys, I now had to install it by default.Out of the box this was the easiest router/modem I’ve ever installed. I had a problem authenticating it, so I called Linksys and a wonderful lady walked me through it. It took awhile because she was very thorough which I appreciated. She did not let me hang up until we had literally tried everything she could think of. Long story short, the problem was on Cox’s end and it took me an entire day and night to finally get help. (“We don’t support that equipment!” Yes you do dumba$$ I just talked to someone else but they hung up on me. Get me that person!) FINALLY someone at Cox figured out what the deal was and we were up and running.I’m not a techno person and the fact that I could even get this to work is rather a miracle. It really is EASY out of the box and if Cox hadn’t had a problem I could have done it all myself. One thing I noticed right away is that the smart TV in my bedroom clear across the house isn’t hanging up and buffering anymore in Hulu. The big tv in the basement where we entertain has barely been able to connect to wifi before, and now I get a MEDIUM signal. Hey I’ll take it. The TIVO doesn’t drop the connection and require rebooting anymore, even though it’s fifteen d*mn feet from the router and should work better than anything else.I would have been 100% satisfied with my selection if this had been a purchase, even though I wouldn’t have had a clue about which one of these would be the best. I was able to turn two pieces of equipment taking up space into one. AND got rid of the rental fee I guess I’d forgotten that we’d been paying on the Cox modem. Boosted our performance too it seems. I am thrilled with this Linksys product and if this one ever dies I will definitely buy another one.

Did not work out of the sealed box. Returned and bought another…failed shortly after getting it working…switching back to Netgear.

Incompatible with local cable internet providerI live in St. Robert, MO. the main internet provider is Cable America. The Linksys CG7500 modem is incompatible with my ISP. The tech installed the modem. But I couldn’t get internet service. I called Linksys and their tech suggested that my ISP may not support the modem. I called my ISP tech and he said it may be a defective modem. I exchanged it for the same one, and got the same exact results. Everything looked good but it was just not going through, it was blocked. So either Linksys does it on purpose to support the big wig ISPs or Cable America just doesn’t support it. So if you are in St. Robert or Waynesville, MO using Cable America then just avoid Linksys and go with Netgear. note, I’m using a Netgear modem no problem at all.

DO NOT BUY. Would have given 0 stars if I could. This router didn’t work from the start. The wifi kept dropping out. I had to reset the router at least once a day. I tried every workaround and nothing helped. Even after a reset the wifi signal was poor and inconsistent.I’ve spend hours on the technical support line with Linksys and the only remedy is to provide a replacement of exactly the same item. The support from Linksys is a very poor.THIS IS NEW PRODUCT AND DOESN’T WORK PROPERLY. DO NOT BUY.
Will –
When I first bought it, it ran great. Then started getting random drop offs from the network with certain devices, the 2.4 or 5ghz would just disappear, range was very bad in the 5ghz band. I would need to restart the modem to temporarily get things running normal again until the same issues came back. Then I was getting 1/3 the speed I was paying for, my provider came out and did line checks and determined it was indeed this modem/router that was was using. I called linksys and they offered to exchange the unit for a new one which I almost did until I came back and read the reviews. I decided to ditch linksys as I felt like this issue would continue and went back to my providers modem and purchased a separate netgear nighthawk router. No more issues case closed.
Matt Heavner –
The routing and network software on this is very unreliable and needs to be rebooted more than once a week. I ended up hanging a separate router off of this and really only using it as a cable modem – and it still has problems (but it typically can go almost two weeks without a reboot). Especially frustrating as linksys doesn’t really control the firmware – it is the comcast/xfinity/the cable company. Disappointing performance and reliability.
Styopa Semenukha –
Works flawlessly with Comcast. No wall-mount though, so it just stands on my table.
Timothy Cowley –
Perhaps this works just fine with a smaller number of devices or non-Apple products. In my case, heavy users of Mac products, we struggled to find the wireless and stay connected to the internet. I use Xfinity.

I don’t recommend it. I went back to my old modem. I had to reset this one all the time and had nothing but trouble.

Update 4/29/18: experience with dozens of routers over the years. Expert level user. Would give this zero stars if possible.I bought my unit from Walmart sealed and brand new a few months ago. After factory reset and config from scratch I found that this router confuses and re-assigns reserved DHCP IP addresses, mislabeling host names (as in labels my printers and its reserved static IP as a Nintendo or another random network device), then reissues the statically assigned IP to another DHCP device knocking both devices offline. WTF man!!! That’s simply the absolute worst thing any router can do. Fix coming anytime soon? This is garbage otherwise. I’m never buying another Linksys product again. Now I’m stuck with a broken $200 unit and I have to buy another one and reconfigure my network, static IP’s etc.

After a series of conversations with the Linksys tech support and product management staff, I confirmed that this product does not work seamlessly with Apple products, and that their ‘guest’ network is only designed to support individuals who want to browse the internet (i.e., ‘smart devices’ and peripherals will likely not function on the ‘guest’ network).Specifically, the AC1900 Wi-Fi Cable Modem/Router repeatedly drops network connections when browsing or streaming audio on my iPhone and iPad Pro (which requires a refresh of the page and occasionally a reboot of an app). I was told by Linksys that they’ve aware of this issue and that it’s been an ongoing problem with their products. Moreover, I wasn’t able to install my ‘peripheral’ devices (e.g., ‘smart TV’s’, thermostats, refrigerators, baby monitors, etc.) on the ‘guest’ network like I had with my previous routers. This is because the AC1900 ‘guest’ network presents itself as an available ‘unsecure’ network on the internet, but then requires the ‘guest’ to enter a password into his/her browser in order to browse securely on the internet.Unfortunately, while all of my ‘peripheral’ devices are designed to seamlessly connect to either secure or insecure networks, they are not designed to deal with networks that ‘spoof’ themselves as unsecure and then require a password each time they connect to the internet (as if I would be up at 2AM to type in a password when my TV decides to update its programming or software).Consequently, if you have other kinds of peripheral wireless devices in your home, they have to be installed on the router’s secure 2.4 GHz or 5GHz internal networks in order to function.Unfortunately, these kinds of devices are not generally known for having strong internet security in place (i.e., they can be hacked more easily than my computer or iPhone/iPad Pro). And so I’ve always installed these devices outside my ‘internal’ network (albeit on a separate, secure, ‘guest’ network) so that I could reduce the risk of my computer and other peripherals being hacked. Both the Linksys tech support staff and engineering (software development) project team confirmed the issues I raised were valid and needed to be corrected. Moreover, they assured me that a software ‘patch’ would be created and made available to my ISP so that my AC1900 modem/router could be updated (since the device also doubles as a modem, software updates apparently come through your ISP).I was also told that I would be kept informed on progress toward a resolution. However, after I hadn’t received any updates from them in a month, I called back in to the Linksys tech support line and learned that they had not only closed the tickets, but had decided against fixing the issues that occur with Apple devices or re-configuring their ‘guest’ network so that guests – and peripheral devices – would be required to present a password upon connection to the network. So, if you don’t have an apple product and/or are comfortable having devices like the proverbial “hackable baby monitors” inside your private, secured network, maybe this is the router for you. I wasn’t prepared to carry on with the security risks or the the frustration of having to refresh pages every time I browsed online and have returned the product.

Like others who have commented, this cable modem and router is garbage. We have some devices that are able to connect to the wireless fine, but none of our Android phones can ever establish a consistent connection. They will connect, and then a few seconds later disconnect. At times they will connect, but after a few minutes, although still connected, there will be no Internet. The Xbox will connect fine, and the Google Home, Fire TV, and Alexa Echo seem to connect OK, but even they every now and then will have connection or Internet issues. I have one Windows 10 laptop that connects OK, but another two Windows 10 computers that cannot connect at all. This has been extremely frustrating. I called Linksys, and although the support person was nice, nothing he recommended worked. As others noted, the vendor points fingers at Xfinity to get any potential firmware updates, but Xfinity doesn’t have anything. I will never buy another Linksys or Belkin product. This was a very expensive paperweight (I waited too long to try and get it setup, and I can’t even return it now). Please do not waste your money or time on this garbage or anything else sold by Linksys. 🙁

This device does not work with Cox Communications even though Linksys support says it’s “coming soon.” Waited 4 months and it still doesn’t work with Cox.
Monte –
Don’t expect it to connect to Apple products (iPhone, iPad, mac). It is not a network problem, it’s the router. Contacted Linksys for the issue (since it’s already beyond return) and they say the problem has been escalated because it is one of their recent devices and not all techs are familiar with it. Oh and they haven’t called me back; all I know is that it’s escalated. Point is, don’t buy it.

The speed, range and ability to connect multiple devices ( Desktops, Roku TVs, Android Phone and laptop) with this modem to Xfinity far exceeds my old Netgear. It was an easy no call setup with Comcast. However, it doesn’t seem to accept my wireless printers. It does at first when manually entering the MAC address but then drops it. I have yet to try to connect my Blink security system which I’m crossing my fingers will work.

came right on time, and so far working well.

Bought from Bigbox store, what a nightmare. Drops WIFI almost every day. Called Lynksys tech support, worthless. DO NOT BUY!
Tech Guy –
Bought one and after an hour an a half with tec support found out that this series of router has a chip issue that cause the wifi to constantly connect and disconnect every 5 seconds on Mobile devices. Returned it and would advise anyone who owns anything besides a Windows device to stay away until they get this issue fixed.

I waisted $$$$ on this product — doesn’t work. is NOT compatible with COMCAST, and I couldn’t return it.
JR –
This is a god awful gateway. It drops wireless addresses, it does not easily allow new addresses to be recognized. I spent countless hours with the Lyksys tech folks and even they were miffed. As I read up more on this device, it is a known theme with many customers. Do not buy this device, there is an inherit firmware issue that needs to be resolved.
Ravindra Singhai –
This router didn’t work with Android phones. It was connecting and disconnecting continuously so I returned it within a week.

Not sure why so many people have had issues. Supper easy to setup and register on the network (Comcast). Have not dropped WiFi a single time in the two months I have had it. I did bridge 2.4 and 5 ghz. I have 4 IOS, 2 windows and 1 android device and they all connect and stay connected with no issues. I’ve always been a Motorola fan but was having so many issues that I went to this unit. Linksys (Cisco) has always been the best name is network devices. And they have not disappointed with this unit.My son had a Motorola too having the same issues I had. Since this worked for me so well he ordered one. His results where the same as mine, great!

Not reliable-downages constantly–went back to our cable box and Linksys router.

Similar issues to those already posted. Modem works fine when it is working but constantly drops the internet signal and requires a restart.
Jagator60 –
Love having my own WiFi modem so I don’t have to pay fees associated with renting one from the cable company. Has been a seamless switch and haven’t had any issues with the performance.
Customer –
Setup was easy and it came with directions to register with Comcast cable.

Love this modem/router so far it’s a beast!Simple setup! Fast speeds!
imsfan –
i must’ve lucked out as I’ve yet to have a single issue with this router. I’ve had steady signals both ether and WiFi with no drops in speed. For the price I paid and what I’ll save from CC ripping me off I’m happy.

This is a unit that does not work well, wifi failed within the first week of operation, tech support did their job and followed up and verifying problem. Then nothing happened and I should be expect this unit sent back for another unit but they do not agree and keep asking me for more information. Don’t buy it period.

I’ve tried using this three different times, with a few months between each hoping an update will make it better, and in each have reverted to my older router. I don’t know what its deal is; it just won’t keep a signal to save its life. I updated the firmware, it starts off great, but after a few hours my wifi starts intermittently dropping and I have to reboot it again. Not sure if its a hardware issue or can be fixed with a firmware update, but I’m not willing try try it a fourth time.

Bought two. One for home and one for business. Switched to Comcast and didn’t want to rent equipment. Good deal and works great.

Bought this to save vs comcast rental. Happy at first with high speeds. Modem has security issue with its puma chip which has yet to be fixed. It also has big problems with connections from android and amazon devices. Lately it freezes a few times a week requiring a power reset and dropping my security cameras. I’ve posted and emailed linksys and have yet to hear back. I’m regretting my purchase and will attempt to get some support before the warranty runs out. Should have went with arris.

supposedly certified to work with comcast xfinity, this modem would not exceed about 4Mbs. I even got comcast to bring out their own cabel modem to my house just to verify that there was no problem with the wiring. I work in technology and know what I’m doing, but the admin/config menu is so minimal that there really aren’t even any configuration knobs to misconfigure. I returned this one and got a Motorola Model MB8600 instead, which has worked flawlessly.

Don’t buy it

I had a lot of problem to set it up and it stops emitting wifi signals. In addition ,the phone number for assistance doesn’t answer. I am really disappointed with this product.

This modem router is working very good. I can use my 100mbs internet service very well with the 5ghz wifi conexion. both the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz wireless bands are working as expected.

after one week of use.I don’t know why too many people left bad review for this modem router. I’ve received this modem router last week. Configuration was piece of cake it literally took me 2 minutes . And next thing it was up and running. I connected 4 iPhones 2 Androids, 1 PS4, 1 PC, 2 Chromecasts to two of our TV. and I also hard-wired one Comcast stream pix box, 1 CCTV DVR…..My kids watching Netflix my son playing PS4.What I’m trying to say is we making this router working really hard. And we have no issues whatsoever no disconnecting from the internet no rebooting just nothing. I have 100 megabytes plan with Xfinity. I connected my phone to Wi-Fi with the 5 gigahertz. Checked the speed 120 megabytes download 30 megabytes upload. I’m getting more speed than what I’m paying. This is one of the best modem router for the price. I paid $78. I was renting it from Comcast for $10 a month with this modem router I’ll get my money back in 8 months.Verdict. Great modem router for very good price buy it and try it. If you don’t like it you can always return it , in my case I’m not returning it because I love it.

very easy to install

Works great. Easy to set up. Much faster than my Comcast provided modem/router.

Saving me money and works great

The speed and specs are good… but the modem often restarts by itself … I guess the firmware upgrade might fix this issue … I am not sure
