It arrived on time for the next week’s virtual learning! It works beautifully. No issues so far and none anticipated. Very happy with Motorola modems. Our last modem still worked after over 15 years we just needed more speed capacity.
Review –
I have COMCAST business internet 100/15 Mbps (download/upload). This modem worked as advertised for this service and was easy to install and register with COMCAST customer service, it only took a few minutes.

Good product at a decent price. It’s a plug and play. I was prompted by the internet browser to activate. I did not have to call Xfinity as I had my own modem before. This was a simple swap. I did have to restart the modem a couple times after initial activation but everything is running smoothly now. I’m getting 230-240mbps for download speed with a latency of 15-18, and an upload speed of 12mbps. (Used several different speed test websites) It came with a Cat 6 ethernet cable, but I already had a Cat 7.

Was having trouble streaming TV shows downstairs with my upstairs router. So I tried buying a new modem. Didn’t help (it wasn’t the modem that was at fault) but this one works fine. Easy set up, etc.

This is perfect to get away from the Comcast xfinity monthly leasing charge of $14 here in Sacramento California. Don’t hesitate get it!!! But you do need a wifi router or mesh network.

I turned off my router and plugged the internet cable into the new modem. After setting up the new modem I waited about ten mins. for the pilot lights to steady up, the modem restarted once while this process was ongoing.
I then turned on the PC. In less than a minute a Comcast/xfinity window opened w/o any input from me. I selected ‘activate a new modem’ from the given list. That took me to a ‘sign-in’ page. My default browser Edge remembers my Comcast sign-in info so one more click took me to the ‘please wait while we activate your service’ page.
Most unhappily it then told me ‘there is a problem please call 800xfinity’.
I’ve done a lot of reading on this subject and recalled a post that mentioned restarting the PC when this dread message appears.
That is what I did and went through the sign-in process again and after waiting about ten minutes: “Thank you for activating. Your Internet service is ready for you to use. Use the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app to find hotspots near you.”-from the email Comcast sent me.
Kiss the Sky time! Whoop! Speedtest Ookla gives me 120MB/s down and 5-6MB/s up with the new modem.

Well when I first took it out of the package I was a bit stunned by how small it was, but as they say dynamite comes in small packages! I removed my rented gateway from Xfinity ($14 mo) and connected the MB7420 and then tried to connect to the internet with my laptop, I was immediately redirected to Xfinity’s gateway activation page where it had detected the new gateway then follwed the prompts i.e. account info etc. and 5 minutes later i was online without ever talking to anyone! Oh yeah i did check the speed before and after and the MB7420 delivered as promised. This little guy will be saving me almost $170 yr thank you very much!
