Motorola MG7700 Product Details
The Motorola MG7700 is packed with all the features you need to keep all of your devices connected to fast, reliable data. This modem features 24×8 channel bonding, built-in AC1900 dual-band wireless router, and 4 gigabit ethernet ports, among other amazing features. This modem’s firewall security keeps your home’s data safe and helps guard against malicious virtual attacks and security breaches. One of the best features with this model is the power boost WiFi amplifiers that boost the signal of your WiFi into the far corners of your home, making it one of the best-ranged routers available. Additionally, anybeam Performing at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies focuses the signal on wireless clients to further enhance performance and range.
Compatible with Most Cable Providers
The Motorola MG7700 is widely compatible with a variety of US providers. This model is certified for use with Comcast Xfinity, Cox, and other cable providers. Please note that this model is not compatible with Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, and other fiber optics, satellite, or DSL services. The benefit of a widely compatible modem like the Motorola MG7700 is that if you relocate to a new city, this model is much more likely to still work with whichever provider is in your new location. This can save time and money when installing your home networking and can save you from having to purchase a different model down the road for your new service provider.
Connect All Your Devices – Wired or Wireless
The MG7700’s built-in router provides high-speed shared Internet access to all your home devices such as smartphones, HDTVs, computers, tablets, game stations, streaming media devices, and other Ethernet and WiFi devices. Since this model also includes simultaneous dual-band, you’ll also experience enhanced signal strength and connectivity, throughout your whole home. Most other single-band devices would require a range extender or additional access point to avoid any dead zones or spotty wireless areas, but this model’s different.
Fast Internet Speed
The Motorola MG7700 features 24×8 channel bonding which allows the modem to support internet download speeds up to 686 Mbps. Because this model also comes with 4 built-in Ethernet Ports, you’ll be able to transfer data between devices on your network at up to 1000 Mbps. This can be really helpful for those working in home offices, and those that use a media server for their entertainment.

I had just moved into a new home and Xfinity is the only game in town. Previously, with FIOS I was renting the modem/router monthly. I told myself that the next company won’t get me on that again. Although this is an expensive out of pocket cost now, I know that it will pay for it self down the line. I did a lot of reading and research between the different models and decided on this one. Installation was flawless. I was already connected to the internet even before the tech was able to finishing setting up the cable for the TV. Signal is strong all around the house. No issues/problems thus far.Edit: Just want to update that the modem have been solid for the last 4 months. Signal is strong covering 3400 sf home.

Comcast Xfinity router/modem speed test on the left, my new Motorola MG7700 speed test on the right, 4 times faster. Amazing! Very happy with the improved speed. Should have bought my own modem years ago. Now if only xfinity would provide the speed we are paying for…I

I’m very happy with this purchase. We needed both a modem and router and this 2-in-one was a great value for the money. It set up quickly and easily and we’re watching Hulu Live on 2 TVs, using phones, Kindles, 2 printers and 3 Alexa’s without any issues. It is placed in a corner room on the first floor and we have no issues anywhere in the house. I got this to work with Comcast.

I was sold a used device when I purchased a brand new one. First the box was left in the rain and when I opened the box I found the power supply cable balled and wrapped as if it was used before. I attached a photo.

This expensive modem/router would not stay on line for more than 15 minutes. I will be contacting customer support tomorrow.

I had the Xfinity 1GB Gateway which dropped the connection numerous times a day. Not a problem at all with this one after a week. If you get the wrong moron at Xfinity they might tell you this router is not compatible but it is. You’ll need to call if you’re replacing a modem. This covers a 2500sqft house with no issues. Speeds of over well over 400mbps wireless. Buy it, you won’t regret.

After dealing with issues of a 3-year old modem/router from a different manufacturer, I made the decision to come back to Motorola. The device was simple to setup and contains instructions if you need them. Ensure to contact your ISP with the MAC address of your new device. The Motorola software for the device has many features including the ability to allow only certain devices on your WiFi network, change your network name, network password, etc. Network speeds over LAN were right at what my ISP provides and WiFi speeds were just as good too. Time will tell if this was a good buy but things are looking good so far.

Switched from the Comcast rented modem to an Arris Surfboard and that was a disaster. The Arris was constantly disconnecting and support was of no help. I switched to this Motorola MG7700 24X8 and it has been great. I pay Comcast/Xfinity for up to 200Mbps download and up to 20Mbps upload. I was getting about 50Mbps down and 8 up. Now I am getting about 250Mbps down and 24Mbps up. And that testing is from wifi not hard wired.

I have bought a few modems over the years. Got tired of paying xfinity for rental of their modem/router. So I got this one. Was super easy to set up. Then I got on the 8nternet on how to change stings to get it even faster. So far highest speed of 184 on a 150 service thru the 5g wireless connection. So far really impressed.

This was the easiest fastest best move I ever made with internet. This modem is much faster than Comcast modem, went from 159 to 216, installed on 6 minutes, but Comcast operator took 15 minutes to send old back, still not sure she did it correctly, buy it it’s worth the savings

Super fast modem. I wanted to replace my Comcast modem because I was tired of renting it. I originally bought a Netgearodem but noticed the speed wasn’t as good as my original Comcast modem. So I tried this one and the speeds are way better… I average 300mbps through wifi. This is a must have

During some troubleshooting of one of my network devices having issues connecting to the 2G radio on this Motorola 7700 router I observed the access list showing duplicate device entries. And more importantly none of the device mac addresses shown in the list were correct. The first three octets of each mac address were not correct for the device. But the last three octets of the mac address were correct for each device. How do you troubleshoot network device connectivity issues if you can’t verify the mac address? The more I use this router the less I’m impressed. At the $170 price point it should at least accurately reflect what’s connected to the router. Additionally this router has no way to block incoming IP addresses or IP address ranges. This was a basic capability on my old Actiontec router. After doing some research on other routers it seems that capability has not been part of newer routers. What’s the point of having a firewall that can’t block individual or a range of IP addresses. For most non-technical people, firewall features aren’t a concern. But I watch the nightly attacks on my network and would sleep better if I had such a feature. That said, shame on me for assuming this router had the ability to block incoming IP addresses. I’ll be returning this unit as soon as I find a router that has decent firewall capabilities.
