Oldie but a goodie. A solid modem that is still in use by many peeps. Bought when Charter was charging for modem rentals. RIP sweet child of mine.

This is a direct replacement for my time warner unit.Works great!

    James A. Morris – June 14, 2016

Hook up was easy, the unit works well. I should have purchased the next unit up. The cable company upgrading my service to 50mb per sec. This modem is rated at 38 mb per sec.

  11. Rated 5 out of 5

    Ryan – June 15, 2016

This modem was delivered in great condition and included a Ethernet cable to connect to my router. Time Warner Cable is our internet provider, and this is one of the modems recommended on their website. It was a breeze to set up and has been working great!

This died after about a year. We had to run out and purchase another modem locally to restore our Internet service.

  14. Rated 5 out of 5

Vegan For Life ftp – June 29, 2016

Same as everyone else. Eliminates the rental/lease payment for a unit from TWC. I’ve had it since April. No problems at all. I leave it turned off and have it,and the wifi unit on an 3 outlet tap cube plugged into an outlet adaptor that has a switch on it so I turn both off unless I’m using it. It’s fast and reliable and because I only use it for regular internet use,it’s the bottom of the line data connection and still does video and flash player use without stopping and buffering and hiccups in playing video or animation on web pages. I don’t use it for streaming but if it had a faster mb access speed it would probably do as well as it does using it for what I’ve got. Even the tech that did the install said it a good, problem – free unit.

This modem is a bit outdated but still works perfectly fine. Verizon contacted us a few times letting us know it wouldn’t work with our service but it has continued to work just fine. I highly recommend this product as it works well and is much cheaper than renting through your wireless company.

    Bob – September 5, 2016

I wanted to believe that this “end-of-life” modem was “resurrectable.” Unfortunately, after speaking to several employees at Xfinity as well as our very own independent unbiased networking specialist (aka our Asian friend), the consensus was to return the modem. I wanted to be wrong – I wanted this modem to work so badly – I argued my case to Xfinity but to no avail. This modem was however, very inexpensive and all the parts were there and it was shiny and smelled of brand new plastic. But it was no longer supported 🙁

It works, but I often ran into issues where I had to reset or unplug/replug the modem to get it to work properly. I’d buy a more up to date mode (as I have done a year ago).

    Windows User – February 24, 2017

Purchased this modem new more than five years ago to minimize the Comcast nickle and dime rented equipment routine. Device paid for itself within months; and we’ve saved month over month for years now. We pay for 25 mbps down, and periodic speed tests consistently show download speeds between 25 and 30 mbps. I believe the download limit for DOCSIS 2.0 modems, of which this is one, is 38 mbps. Unless I’ve misunderstood how this works, our hardware is still more than a match for our speed tier, which itself is more than adequate for HD streaming and browsing on multiple devices simultaneously. I’ve been very pleased with this purchase and, much like a home’s wireless router, it’s an unsung, workhorse piece of equipment that gets all the sexier hardware like game consoles and computers connected to where they want to be on the Internet.
