Works great.
Kniahlz Customer –
OK, but I’d call your ISP first. When Time Warner in LA updated to 300 Mbps, this one should have worked but wasn’t compatible.
Alan Frankel Customer –
Great modem, I have had this for about 3 years and it hasn’t hiccupped even once. This is also a very fast modem, faster than other Motorola models.
Ana Fuzi Customer –
I’m very happy with this box, works perfect and save me over $100 in cable fees last year.Recommend to everybody.Ana
Daren Customer –
This modem is noticeably faster than my “Cox Cisco modem”A good bang for the buck !

Great
Ron Customer –
Saves me from having to pay Time Warner monthly. Great investment. Works great and shipped in time.
ChamFamDad Customer –
No need to rent one of these from your cable provider. Just use this one instead and save your money.
Austin Customer –
Time Warner Cable’s modem they provided me with was similar to this device but included routing and WiFi capability as well. I have a very nice ASUS router and I did not want to use their crappy modem WiFi. My original solution was to put the old modem into bridge mode, but due to a problem with that modem’s IPv6 capability it would keep me from getting a proper IPv6 address from TWC. This modem allows my ASUS router to grab an IPv6 address proper and works wonderfully.
Leisha Bryant Customer –
Works great!!!!
Keith W. Wick Customer –
woo hoo no 10 dollar comcast rental fee!
Bob Customer –
I expect a certain quality when the name Motorola is on a device.I am not disappointed.
Brian Customer –
Love it! Gained speed and reliability when I upgraded from an old 2.0 modem. 20mb up to 90mb up! Haven’t had any connection issues in the 6 months I’ve owed it.
Jy Ramey Customer –
I have had this modem for the better part of a year now, and the thing is a rock. It maintains constant stream, I never have to reboot it
R. Shopshear Customer –
Can’t complain, no issues here.
Jesse Customer –
I had this one (black, new in box) for about 3 years. It started dropping the signal and causing my router to reset about 6 months ago. I did everything from buying a new router, updating firmware on router, etc. I even got my internet service provider to push update the modem itself, which the black model requires you to do. The white model is rated better by most techies. Either way as time went the dropping got worse and worse. It lasted about 2 1/2 years before having issues, but still wish it would have lasted longer. I decided to go with another motorola surfboard though just another model. So it’s still a good solid modem, but I might go 21 model if I was you.
Tanner Draemel Customer –
Quality Product.
R. Huttner Customer –
Motorola products have always worked great for me, and this is no exception. I’ve been using this for 2 years without any problems
Bob W Customer –
I bought this, and so far it is fine on my Time Warner account. Speed test similar to the TWC supplied and much newer modem. Have not checked the firmware level however. Shipped quickly and I can confirm it is on the TWC accepted list. Called them and they activated it with no problem although I was on hold a while as they were doing this.
klaudelia Customer –
Excellent
Tom Tom Customer –
Faster than what I had. No problem hook up
Ross W. Virock Customer –
Way better than the one provided by Time Warner! Works great with my Apple Airport Extreme.
Marc Adler Customer –
This was a used item, but works just fine and had no signs of wear. Comes in a brown box and is black (which I prefer) instead of the white model. You will be pleased and will save money.
Eric L Customer –
Returned my TWC cable modem of same model. Thought I should buy my own to avoid paying the monthly fees. This is a great cable modem. Very reliable and compatible with all brands of wireless routers. This one is the black one that came in the generic brown box, not the retail model which I believe is white and packed in a pretty white box. If you are, like me, a TWC cable subscriber and want to avoid paying the monthly modem rental fees then get this. Can’t go wrong.
garzjoe Customer –
The modem works great, glad I purchased one rather than paying Comcast money to rent one and then have them use my device as a WiFi hotspot. This will pay for itself in the long run, so far so good.
alan Customer –
was hoping to save some money and buy my own instead of being charged by time warner cable it works great had to call time warner so they could input information but it up and works great
Mr. Quality and Value Customer –
Fast and reliable.

Seems to work fine, wish I could find better on-line instructions. One of the lights was blinding and couldn’t find out what the error meant.
Dennis Hassing Customer –

M. Smith Customer –
works like a charm
Paul Customer –
Quick Setup. I Plugged everything in. It Connected immediately, then I called the cable company to get it “provisioned.” Everything is fast and now there is less of a monthly cost. No problems!
Alejandro A. Middleton Customer –
Working and received on time. Expectations were met
Jeff Customer –
Great so far. I upgraded my Internet Package and my old surfboard wouldnt support my new higher speed. This thing works great. Mind you, there are no english instructions in the box, but DOMODEALS sent me an email with the link to the PDF before my modem arrived. Setup was easy with a quick call to Cableone, (I had to no matter what so they can register the new modem). Fast and dependable so far.
Kids in their 20’s Customer –
A lot of comcast reviews said it gave them a small bandwidth bonus upon purchase. I am not seeing that, actually lost some dl speed (from 125mbs to 115mbs, really not serious but kinda disappointing). Otherwise works fine not floored by it but i like having control of my network.
Shant A. Customer –
Had this for a few years now, it has never lost connection! Get rid your cable company modem, they are probably charging you a small monthly fee for it.
LL Customer –
Bought this to replace my overpriced Comcast modem. Simple install (quick phone call to Comcast (yeah, I know, there’s no such thing as a quick phone call to Comcast but I find that there is when calling support. They’re friendly and helpful, it’s the sales folks you want to avoid) and I had it up and running in no time. Fast and no issues to date. I returned my Comcast modem the same day I got this going.
eric ritter Customer –
Excellent price, service and outcome. Happy with the Motorola quality. One of the best purchase made in awhile. It has literally saved me hundreds in modem rental fees.
Bob March Customer –
Works great …. it is the same Modem that I was ” renting” from my provider ……. Now I got my own !!!!
BEC Customer –
DOES THE JOB BUT DON’T LIKE IT DIDNT COME WITH PHONE SLOT
JLR Customer –
This product works perfectly with Xfinity/Comcast cable service. (I’m no longer paying the modem rental fee from Xfinity!) Install was very easy and after 2 weeks of use, we have not had any issues. I have this connected to Apple Time Capsule.
Richard Hamm Customer –
received my unit and all booklets, instructions, etc are in Spanish??? thought this was the U.S.A.??
YOJeff Customer –
Works great and I don’t have to pay TWC rental fee anymore!
JM in MD Customer –
Unfortunately, after I bought this, Comcast insisted that we upgrade to a DOCSIS 3.1 modem.
Fastmerc Customer –
About a year in operation…. Works great! Fairly easy to set up. I hope this 3.0 tech lasts longer than the 2.0 models before the 3.1 technology updates and voids them…..ugh! Stupid computers!
King CA Customer –
love it
Lawrence C Greer III Customer –
Works like a champ.
Arturo Ma Customer –
Works great!
Mike R Customer –
Much better than the garbage fees and modems provided by the cable companies.
Rich Customer –
First of all, the modem is now working fine although it has been in service only a day. The problem is with installation. No instructions came with the modem in English. Not a big problem since I just downloaded the manual. My issues came when I connected it to my ISP (Cox). The MAC address on the modem and box would not connect to the network. After several hours of work, I found out that the MAC address was different. You can see it by going to the devices web interface from the LAN side. I highly recommend you connect the modem to a PC and check this before you try to connect it.Once I had the correct MAC address it connect without any problem.
Marcia C. Foster Customer –
Get to own my modem and not pay rent to Cox. Works perfectly.
frederick a smith Customer –
Extremely fast modem. Purchased to replace the Comcast model I had which was very slow. This modem is three times faster then the Comcast one. I am extremely pleased with this product. Price was great also.
O’Hosey Customer –
More stable & faster than the one the cable company was “renting” to me!
TheBreeze Customer –
It’s been working non-stop for a year withOUT any problems. Owning your own modem is much cheaper in the long run than paying to rent one from your cable company.
Ayan Patel Customer –
Works great with Time Warner Los Angeles, 50 Mbps. I called them, gave them the MAC address, and it worked within a few minute while on the phone with them.
Solar Powered USA. Customer –
Finely, got rid of twc rental fee, with this unit, though I am only getting basic service, l am ready for the next internet2 or much faster download service….
lara,o Customer –
Works super great with time warner. Super quick And high speed. You still need the modem from TW but you won’t be charged for it. Much better than the rental.
TRFD Customer –
No problems with this modem whatsoever. Supports up to 300mpbs even though TWC says they won’t support that speed on this modem they are for me. I am not making any guarantees about this so please take it as anecdotal evidence.Modem starts up and connects very fast, good build quality, small.
Robert Reidel Customer –
Comcast set it up and it works as it should, but I did not gain any speed over the sb5120 as Comcast claimed.
CE Customer –
For the most part it is ok, but it stalls often. As soon as I turn it off and back on, it seems to work again.
Hiswillc Customer –
Best!!
Ryan Customer –
It has been great! I’ve had it for nearly two years. Meets all my expectations, though my ISP does not!
Joshua J. Customer –
After purchasing this my intermittent disconnects from Time Warner stopped, and most importantly they stopped extracting $7.99 a month extra from me.
Kyrie Customer –
I bought this because Time Warner Cable upped my rental fee from $5.99/mo to $8.99/mo. I should have purchased this years ago. My only complaint is for Time Warner Cable. Two weeks after I purchased my own modem they upped my internet from $34/mo to $55/mo. It’s funny how they work. I bought my own modem because they upped the rental fee but then they still found a way to get more money out of me. I did call and was able to get it lowered to $39/mo.
L Worley Customer –
As expected
Timothy J Feeley Customer –
It is at least as fast as the comcast provided modem. Also, it pays for itself since I don’t have to rent the comcast modem anymore. Buy it now if you have comcast!
Rael M. Customer –
You must call the internet provider to turn the modem on.(Comcast)
A.P.B.K. Customer –
works great, screaming fast internet, despite time warners best attempts to slow my speed.
Customer Customer –
Excellent Modem. I got it to replace my old SURFboard, as it was only 4 bonded channels, this is 8. I love the “Plain Brown Wrapper” packaging philosophy, it is both economically and ecologically sound. I wish more companies would adopt this type of packaging for mail-order sales.
A. Joven Customer –
Has worked wonderfully since setting up. Had one issue with my connection to TWC, but after they sent provisional files to the modem all has been flawless. Speeds are better than the TWC modem/router it replaced.
Antonia Julian Customer –
It is working right now. Thanks for asking. Antonia
Claire D. Customer –
Much better than continuously renting one from the internet company; works well so far, for 1 1/2 years now. Medialink Wireless-N Broadband Router with Internal Antenna

J Doug Shaw Customer –
I have owned three SURFboards now and this is the best one. Not only that but when I informed COX that my new modem supported DOCSIS 3.0, they doubled my speed for free.
Kyle Schaper Customer –
Bought this to replace me SBG6580 (Comcast kept pushing new signals and killing my bridged set-up, long story but it became too much of a hassle to continue using it.) It provides the same signal and allows me to not have to worry about wireless settings via the modem.
Hammer_842 Customer –
I purchased the black Motorola SB6141 OEM brown box version over one month ago because I didn’t want the ugly white version (my perception). I was hesitant because of the occasional warning that it doesn’t work with Time Warner Cable, frequently drops to a lower speed, etc. Well, guess what? I’ve had it for one month now and have not experienced any problems.I’m on a DOCSIS 3.0 connection and had been using a DOCSIS 2.0 modem for several years. I would continuously get critical errors which, as we know, causes delays because of data being retransmitted. Now that I’ve got the SB6141, no more critical errors. My firmware is 1.0.6.14 and has been verified by others to be a stable error-free release.
Hai Customer –
This helped my internet speed A LOT. I love this product.
Rodolfh Benjamin Herrera Customer –
Upgraded my old DOCSIS 2.0 modem. I’m now getting around 40 MBS from my previous 20ish. Make sure ur internet plan actually goes that high. It wont make your slow internet plan faster.
A. Brattoli Customer –
I have owned the Motorola SURFboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem (OEM Brown Box) for over almost a year and half. It was purchased in June 2013, when my cable company TWC was migrating customers to DOCSIS 3.0.It has performed wonderfully since the first day I installed it. My cable company recognized and approved the modem for service quickly and easily.
Andrew Antal Customer –
It’s performing as expected though the instructions that came with it were in Portuguese. Had to use Google translate to make sense of it all.
CT Customer –
So far so good. Easy setup with TWC. Speeds are as expected. Avoids the TWC monthly rental fee.
Tom Customer –
No English instructions provided.
MARK Customer –
Its really fast 😉
T. Corliss Customer –
Fast!
ansari Customer –
It’s just a week , I switched to this modem, so far I am pleased with it. I hope it serves the purpose for years to come as its predecessor worked.I had to replace it only because twc started charging for the old modem.
Ed B Customer –
Bought the refurbished, worked the moment it was plugged in and hasn’t failed once in a month. Would recommend this product.
Jenn Customer –
Brand new as listed. The modem works great and I’ve not had any issues. Would buy again from this seller.
William P. Nguyen Customer –
Great product! My internet is running well and I no longer pay Time Warner the $8 a month to rent their modem.
SMP Customer –
Product was as expected and worked well
Keith H. Customer –
works well, no problems, easy hook up
ryan jack Customer –
Ditch Comcast. Dont opt into their national wifi program and subsidise their operation cost by running it on your comcast wifi unit. BUY THIS SURFBOARD . Stop paying rental fees and subsidizing a national network that runs thru your house. STOP COMCAST FROM TURNING YOUR WIFI INTO A FREE HOTSPOThttp://www.sfgate.com/business/article/Comcast-sued-for-turning-home-Wi-Fi-routers-into-5943750.php
Skovaz Customer –
no issues, like new
Ziggity Customer –
Switched from God awful ATT Uverse back to time warner using this modem and their self install plan and it works great I am paying for 15gbs and get 17, doesn’t fluctuate and hadnt hung up yet. Have it hooked up to the newest gen. Apple AirPort Extreme and get solid signal through out the house, which is over ~6500 sq. ft. Much better than the all in one cable modems which do not have nearly the same range and loose signal strength right out of the gate. Modem saves you the expensive monthly equipment charge and pays for itself in less than a year. The Apple AirPort Extreme allows you to get the most out of what you pay for in terms of Internet speed and together they are great cost effective option especially if you have a large home.
R. Elias Customer –
Easy to set up and use..
Jay Merritt Customer –
Works as well as the TWC modem I was leasing. It takes less power will run faster (if I ever choose to boost speed) and the best part, is it has a built-in wall mounting system. Now I have my router, VOIP box AND my modem hanging on the back of my cabinet.TWC started charging to lease the modem we have had since 2006. With this purchase, it will be paid for in about 7 months, by not having to pay TWC.
JEFFREY C BEARDSLEE Customer –
Setup was easy and works flawlessly with my Time Warner Cable Service.Internet seems faster than the TWC modem ($8/month) – but it was not measured.
Scottie Customer –
Had upgraded my TWC Internet service to 20 Mbps Turbo. I was at their standard service (15Mbps). I had no issues at their standard service. When I did the upgrade, I was downloading at 5-7 Mbps and upload was at about 2 Mbps. I called tech support a, they reset my modem and some other things. Didn’t get any better and I asked them to send me a new modem. They told me I didn’t need one. I just hung up on them. I did some research and read that this modem was pretty good. So I bought it at Walmat, hooked it up and called Time Warner to activate the modem and it’s hooked up to my Netgear WNDR 4500 wireless router. Worked like a charm. After various speed test on different devices I was right at 20 Mbps to about 22. Definitely worth buying your own modem. On my PS4, Call of Duty Advanced War had a 2.55 GB update…it was downloaded in about 15 minutes. Returning the Cisco 2100 cable modem I had leased from Time Warner
Herbert Hodges Customer –
As expected
Darren D. Wheeler Customer –
I’ve had this cable modem connected and working for about a month. So far, it has been great! I had no problems, whatsoever, getting it up and working with my Comcast service. I’ve already returned the modem I was renting from them. This Motorola modem should pay for itself within about 8 months.
Ktown Customer –
works fine
Brian R. Secretaria Customer –
Awesome fast and awesome fast i can repeat it all day…hehehe…. i luve it ^_^
Roger L Lin Customer –
Works right
Brooks Lawson Customer –
I don’t know anything about modems but this thing worked to connect me to the internet, I guess.
William L. Alston Customer –
I am enjoying the Motorola Surfboard. it was easy to set up and works just fine with my cox cable internet.
Eric Beatty Customer –
The Motorola SURFboard SB6141 in black is great modem. I works nicely on Comcast Xfinity and is supported up to extreme 105. I would have gave it five stars if you could turn the activity lights down/off.
Victor D Customer –
One quirk I noticed immediately: one used to be able to hot-swap devices connected directly to a CM (for example, download something on one PC, swap the ethercord to another) and the next device would connect and run (no, this isn’t technically how it was supposed to be done, but it generally worked). You cannot do this with this modem.. it locks onto the MAC of the device behind it and if you change that device you have to reboot the modem. It’s no reason to avoid the unit, however it made me do a double take in setting up new service (as I activated service with a PC directly to the modem, then when I put my router/gateway in the middle it was having *no* parts of a hot swap.. once I got into its admin panel it does say “max:1” when describing its downstream unit.)
NY Customer –
Was working fin just out of the box.
EHS Customer –
Arrived on time and works great!
Owen E. Heuston Customer –
I got this a couple of years ago I believe and it has been very consistent, never had any problems.
Brian C. Customer –
If you are renting a cable modem from your cable company – please buy your own. You are throwing away money every month. My cable company (who shall remain nameless but whose name starts with C) gave me an 2005 era cable modem with old stickers all over it and charged me $8 per month. I paid this charge for years, not noticing it on my bill.As for the modem, it’s good quality. It’s small. It hasn’t caused me any problems, and it allows me to achieve the fastest speed available on my internet plan, which is 60mbps. So I really don’t see the downside to buying this cable modem.
Cindi Customer –
Just as advertised and came quickly. Good product
Aaron Zitello Customer –
Great modem for residential high-speed cable. Future-proof.
John S. Customer –
I got the black one and it works GREAT. My speeds are amazing download and upload. It worked as stated and this company shipped it fast.
Beth Customer –
It works very well.I like it.
Lisa L. Tolbert-Scott Customer –
I decided to downgrade and get rid of my phone service through the cable company. I rarely used the phone so it made sense to just keep the internet service not to mention they were charging the leasing fee. So I purchased the Motorola SB6141 and so far I haven’t had any problems. .
Cosby Wood Customer –
Purchased this to get rid of my Time Warner “rented” modem. Capable of handling higher speeds, and the DICSIS 3.0 means it’s compliant with the service being offered.
cgbaker Customer –
bought this to stop renting a modem from comcast.using with with 50mpbs services. works great. no complaints!
Secret City Bob Customer –
Good product for a fair price.
Technolyze72 Customer –
Great product, I would recommend
Paul S. Tucker Customer –
Works great…. Well over a year now and no problems. Extremely better than a Time Warner supplied one.
Cheryl Horner Customer –
Works great!!!! Should have replaced the cable company’s modem years ago! Easy installation for the novice..
Roger Thibeault Customer –
Everything works fine but I wish that the description had some info about not having a phone jack on this model. My modem needed to have a phone jack in order to remove my existing cable modem from Time Warner. Therefore I had to keep the Time Warner modem to keep my phone service with them. Everything finally got resolved but it took some time to get it going with Time Warner. If the Motorola Modem had a phone jack everything would have been much smoother.
Nathan Customer –
It works. Getting max speed with Comcast. No more 12 dollar a month rental fee.
Ann Customer –
wish it was faster.
DSH Customer –
This pays for itself in less than a year. It is silly pay a monthly rental fee.

C. J. Clardy Customer –
Great product!
Brant Customer –
Have owned this modem for over 3 years now and it has worked flawlessly. Would recommend this modem to anyone in need of a modem with DOCSIS 3.0
F. U. Customer –
This was a stable, solid, and widely compatible modem. This was bought, and as cable providers changed, this stayed the same – and worked with both RCN and Comcast Business. The only reason for taking away a star is the lack of additional LAN ethernet ports, and wireless capability. I realize these make the device more complicated, and potentially less stable and robust. But given that with any trouble-shooting issues, the technicians make you reboot everything anyway, this is one trade I am willing to make.Otherwise, this modem has been a really stable and solid performer.
Rick Cy Martin II Customer –
Received this a very long time ago and it’s just now popping up to allow me to review it. Modem was simple to setup, though did require me contacting my ISP to have them set the MAC address. After that, it has run flawlessly for the past year and a half that I have owned it. I’ve never had to reset it to restore service and never had any issues at all out of it. Greater ping times than the ISP’s modem this replaced.
David V. Peterlin Customer –

I ditched my cable provider’s version of a modem and installed this one. I have never looked back. It made my Internet connection even speedier, and dare I say, efficient. It even worked while Spectrum took over our company’s lines and began interrupting service. Help us all with that.

bought this to replace a 8 yr old modem very happy and easy set up
Hamsta Customer –
I bought this modem SB6141 on May 2013 for $68, it was well worth it as it’s still functioning as of today (Feb 2018). Unfortunately it’s starting to have a few hiccups but I’m very pleased it lasted this long of continuous everyday usage. This is the modem I relied on to beat an MMORPG (Allods Online), go legend in Hearthstone, spent years in FPS games (Warframe/TF2/OW/CSGO/BF/etc), and get most of my undergrad assignments/research done. Heck it outlasted two routers & my ISP (Time Warner which merged into Spectrum). My biggest complaint is that the power cord can be knocked loose very easily due to a weak power slot (literally wiggling it would cause it to shut down) but that isn’t a problem if you keep your cord out of the way & the modem out of sight. It’s had no problem for years but unfortunately a few weeks ago it developed a small problem: it has trouble “letting go” of the last IP it’s connected to (my router) so if the router has issues then I have to shut it on and off several times until it accepts the new device. Still, I’ll run this little guy until it dies. d(‘-‘)
Vintage Old Spice Lover Customer –
Has always been very reliable! I bought it to replace an older DOCSIS 2.0 modem that was obsolete when Suddenlink “provided” it to me (to get rid of their remaining old inventory). I didn’t know why I was having connectivity and speed issues, and Suddenlink was no help. I started digging. That’s when I realized I had been given an under-performing modem to begin with. Out of my own pocket, I bought this one, and tossed the bad one that Suddenlink “provided.” I have had good and dependable performance in the few years since. I am happy with this purchase.
Randy Customer –
Having my own cable modem saves me $10/month that the cable company would charge to rent theirs.
starclaws Customer –
Still going after 4 years.
Manfred Customer –
Still in use. Works. No Issues. Don’t have capability (or money) for higher performance. Arris – Motorola – Good name(s) – Arris, so far, so good. Hopefully they won’t compromise on design quality. They “were” the radio experts. Have installed a lot of Motorola transceivers in my day. They are REALLY good on the RF side.Note: This unit has a specific design spec operating limits (bandwidth/speed). Define and verify what you need and qualify your selection BEFORE you buy!
