Netgear CM1100 Compatibility
One of the biggest questions we get asked here at ModemGuides.com is if a certain modem will work with your provider or not. We do our very best to keep all our compatibility lists up to date with the latest updates from your provider on what models they allow on their network. That said, it’s always a good idea to call your provider to make sure before ordering. The most common reason people end up returning their order is due to incompatibility. For the most part, this model works great with Comcast, Cox, Spectrum & Time Warner.
Netgear CM1100 Additional Features
Even though this is just a modem, without any built-in wireless, the CM1100 is packed FULL of features. Right out of the box, this model has a Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting any wireless router, switch or wired PC. This model’s DOCSIS 3.1 status is also backward compatible with previous DOCSIS versions. The CM1100 is also IPv6 enabled, and includes integrated security features to keep your devices and personal information safe from malicious attacks. I now get my rated speed through Cox. Modem works great and has been an improvement over the ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 I had previously.

I bought a refurbished model and was excited about it, until right after replacement my network became very unstable, large commercial printers on the network were not connecting. I spend over a day trying to twice settings and training cables. My Mac computer was also hacked within three days, first time in my life! All wet away after I replaced it with a new and half priced modem.

I bought this to replace a CM1000 that Cox said was giving inconsistent readings.
Set up was standard and easy enough, but network aggregation caused constant restarts of the modem. Power cycling itself every 5-8 minutes was enough to get me to disable that “feature” within the first hour of set up.
Over the course of two days, my speed tests were roughly half of what they used to be. Cox came out and tested the cable signal (I did it myself with their gear because of C19 restrictions) and the signal from their cable was fantastic. I swapped my old modem back in and within 15 minutes I was back up at nearly full gigabit speed test results.
I will be returning this tomorrow. I understand it is a renewed product, but I didn’t expect it to be a steaming pile of excrement that cost me 6-7 hours of wasted time.

Rented a router from Sparklight for a long time. When it finally went out I looked at a number of routers that were DOCIS 3 compliant. This one had the best reviews so I gave it a shot. I get solid speeds out of it. I added a Nighthawk wireless onto it is and they work flawlessly together

I need a modem to support my new plan of 400 Mbps, and this fit the bill perfectly for spectrum internet. Hooked it up, gave spectrum the serial number and its been smooth sailing with fast internet ever since!

I am so happy with my purchase. Since Covid started I have been working from home and I’ve had to restart my modem 4 to 5 times per day. After having the cable company out three times a tech finally told me to try buying my own modem. I found this one installed it and have not had to restart my modem in over two weeks now. I am so glad I made this change. I have had no issues with my Internet.

Replacing my docs is 3.0 in support of gigabit plan . Works great with recent 12+ more WiFi connections for work, plays, movies, and many other appliances connections without issues. Did not feel any lags at all. Very stable and well built. Thank you Netgear.

Setup was pretty easy for the most part. I was able to activate without a phone call to my ISP using their website. Seems to be working pretty well so far and is a noticeable improvement speed wise from my older modem. I’ll update if any of that changes

Upgraded our speed at home to 700mbs, was required to upgrade the modem. Went with as it was rated higher than our max. So far it’s performed well and not given us any issues.

The Netgear Nighthawk modem solved our problem with slow internet and signal breaking up. We were blaming the provider when it was our old modem causing the problem. This one is fast even with the overload in this part of town. It handles our web network easily and made it easy to install. No more dropped signal, no more deadspots.

I bought this to replace my DOCSIS 3.0 modem since I upgraded my router to a wifi6 router supporting OFDMA. What a difference! We are able to run all of our devices at the same time on Xfinity basic internet service. Latency is consistently 10- 12ms. Have no disconnections, buffering or lag. If you are wanting to get the most out of wifi 6 you will need a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. No issues since installation. Highly recommend.

This is a modem only, it does what it is supposed to do and it does it well. I have 500Mbps service and it works well!
raymond lisojo –
I was about to return it because I was not getting the speeds I was looking for or that I was supposed to be getting but after a few resets it started to work flawless. I am very surprised the fast and stable my internet behavior is now. Highly recommend it

Works great with spectrum, setup was a breeze.

Works well and gives me fast internet speeds.
Amanda Steele –
Just awesome. I could tell a difference with my connection right off the back. Glad to have made the upgrade.

You WILL need to update the drivers if you buy this. When I first hooked it up, it was dropping internet just like my old one. I updated it following the directions of a previous reviewer and it has been perfect since. Great price for a refurbished product that works just as well as one that is brand new. So glad I decided to get it.

Needed a network upgrade due to large amount of smart devices and switches and the fact that I work from home on the VPN and VoiP while daughter is doing online schooling. I run my own wifi network separately and as such prefer these modem only models. I have had no issues whatsoever with the modem. Installed easy, activated with my ISP. Upgraded service speeds. I am always pulling over 300 down and have no issues gaming, working, streaming simultaneously. Shortly after being installed I had an upload speed issue, but after trouble shooting ISP acknowledged issue on their end and replaced lines. Tech was impressed with the modem. Says these are excellent at keeping signal and continuous connection. I now always get above 10 up.
A Customer –
I purchased this modem, as I wanted to replace the existing modem rented from my Internet provider. After I connected this modem and got my internet, I found that I could not set up the WiFi. My new Netgear modem does not work with my Netgear router. I phoned Netgear tech support to look for a solution. The Netgear support told me that I must purchase their service package in order to receive the solution. It makes me so furious! Both router and modem are made by Netgear, and they are not compatible. They ask consumers to pay them to “buy” the solution. It is so ridiculous! The end – I returned the Netgear modem and sold the Netgear router!

Bought an Arris Surfboard Modem, and it destroyed my home network for about a month. Finally determined the Modem was the issue. Bought this modem and all my problems went away. I have had and liked nether products in the past and they didn’t disappoint this time either. Love the modem, internet speeds are great.
Technonut –
Found out this modem was a refurb which I didn’t notice, but it’s been working well. This modem is actually an overkill for the internet speed I get but I know it can handle any extra speed I upgrade to. At first the modem required restarting once a day but since it was “new” I called my internet provider. Come to find out it was due to corroded connectors. Once fixed, it’s been working like a charm.

I had an older cable modem that was fine for up to 200 Mbps. I upgraded my service to 300 Mbps because it came with a higher data cap and it was actually cheaper for me than the 200 Mbps. Anyway I needed to upgrade the modem to get 300 Mbps. The renewed device was $50 less than new and it works perfectly. I’m using it with the Netgear Orbi mesh and I have like 340+ Mbps on my phones and newer laptops. When you’re checking your Wi-Fi speed the phones work best because they have the latest Wi-Fi.
