32 channels down and 8 channels up. That’s an internet superhighway for geeks , nerds and ordinary joe like me who stream movies tirelessly, play videos 24/7, online on social medias 360 days a year. You better get one before internet becomes too crowded.

It’s a nice modem, I got a 5% speed increase from my Docsis 3. Using with spectrum and it has been flawless. Nice speeds, 117 for my 100 meg service.

Replaced my old Surfboard modem with comcast. I was playing for 250mbps but only receiving 148. As soon as I put this in, I connected to the wifi, went to the comcast website for activation from my phone (website included in instructions) and followed the steps. Very easy setup, it rebooted, ran a speedtest and it went up to over 400mbps! What a difference! Channel bonding makes a world of a difference!

Instead of renting your cable modem, if you buy something like the NETGEAR CM600 DOCSIS Cable Modem then you’ll be able to eliminate the monthly rental fees. The NETGEAR CM600 supports up to 960Mbps download speeds, and has 24 downstream and 8 upstream channels. This cable modem is DOCSIS 3.0 certified, which means it supports cable providers such as XFINITY from Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, and Cablevision.Instructions for activating your cable modem with your cable provider are included in the manual. Note that it’s best to have your cable account number, account phone number, and login information handy when you call your cable provider. You will also need the cable modem’s model number (CM600), serial number, and MAC address–the serial number and MAC address are on the bottom of the cable modem. In the box you get the cable modem itself, an ethernet cable, a power adapter, and a quick install guide. The front of the cable modem has indicator lights: power, downstream activity, upstream activity, internet connectivity, and ethernet connectivity. The back of the cable modem has a power on/off button, a power adapter input jack, a coaxial cable connector, a reset button, and a LAN Gigabit Ethernet port. I liked that there is a power on/off switch so you don’t have to unplug it to reset the link. Also, the reset button is handy in case you forget your admin login credentials and need to reset the cable modem to a known configuration. In a basic usage scenario, to use the cable modem with your computer, connect the coaxial cable from your cable provider and connect the Ethernet cable from the cable modem to your computer. You can also connect the cable modem to a WiFi access point–this cable modem is itself not a WiFi access point! You could also connect this cable modem to a network switch or router instead of directly to a computer.Once your cable modem is powered on and connected to your computer, for security reasons you should change your cable modem’s admin password–the default password is easily guessed. In use, this is a fine cable modem for the typical home user, though it’s not for the power user. There is no ability to change the LAN settings. There is also no ability to change your MAC address. And there is no built-in firewall. But the average home user will find this to be a fast, easy to use cable modem–and you’ll save on those rental fees!

I was so excited to get a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem to replace my EOL cable modem and take better advantage of my high-speed Comcast plan. It arrived DOA, with all lights blinking (see attached). Couldn’t find anything online describing the exact problem. I’m a computer guy, and nothing I could find online or do would fix it.I went to the Netgear website to file a support ticket. After all kinds of weird website bugs that made it hard to register the product (a prerequisite to filing a support ticket), I finally registered it, activated support, and clicked the button to file a ticket. Instead of a form to fill in, I got a blank page. Tried several browsers. No dice.So I called the general Netgear support line. I entered the serial number, and it said they didn’t have it on file (!). No way to get to a human.I’ve been down rat holes like this before, and I didn’t feel like spending more time getting it to work. It’s supposed to be 1) plug in and connect, 2) it automatically configures itself with Comcast, 3) happiness. Instead it was 1) plug in and connect, 2) pain, 3) repeat from 2.So I’m returning it, and ordering a Motorola MB8600. Fingers crossed.UPDATE: Motorola was plug’play, and working great.

The cm400 comes with the Intel puma5 chipset stay away for this it worked ok-ish at 120-130megs (and I’m paying for 200meg mind you) for about 5 months for me. then one day it just dropped down to 40-60 and stayed that way for a week called the cable people they sent someone out. Guy said everything from the main was 100% all the way up to the wire where it comes in to the back of the modem he said I sound call netgear and and see what they would recommend doing. So I called and of course like every freaking tec business i got some stupid computer to talk to for 20min. Before some one told me it was the cable people that needed to fix something. Not happy at this point so I sleep on it and wen I woke my modem was dead. It would not send a signal to my router thru the cat7 or cat6 I tried. It is still connecting to my service just wont send anything out. I tried unplugging my router and using other things to try it like ps4 ps3 2 PC’s xbox1x and a smart TV and these where all hardline hook ups not one worked. It was dead!!!!!!!! Dont buy anything with puma chipsets people!!!!!

I’ve always been a customer-owned device kind of person, so I replaced my Arris Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 with this when I moved up to a gigabit plan. I’ve not been disappointed. Works great with a hardware-offloaded Ubiquiti ER-X, I’m getting fantastic speeds down. RCN isn’t the greatest with uploading, but that’s no fault of the modem. There’s nothing like downloading games from Origin at 60 MegaBYTES a second while three other people in your house are streaming media…

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Difference compared to my previous sb6120 (which i had for 6 years)The NetGear CM600 is an absolute beast.MY ISP (Spectrum) offered me the 200MB/10MB UP package for a couple years, i was never able to fully utilize those speeds because of my SB6120 (which was excellent for its era)but now im getting advertised speeds and the netgear cm600 is even improving latency and ping as well.Hoping for another 6 years, just like the SB6120. Cheers.

Megabit (Mb) is not equal to Megabyte (MB), Mb is actually an 8th of a MB. So, the crazy 960Mbps speed is actually only 120MBps –which at first glance may seem great; however, almost every ISP doesn’t offer internet speeds that match the full power of this router (granted you can get these speeds in an urban setting, for extra $$). For the most common complaining user (someone in a suburban setting or rural setting), you will never, ever, ever get a wifi speed that is suitable for more than 4 people to stream Netflix, hang out on the phone, look up stuff on the internet, and have a ping in a video game lower than 100; unless, you pay enough money to own the ISP corporation itself (obviously, an exaggeration; yet, still necessary to express how expensive an internet service costs to Americans –not to mention the constant hikes in prices). The reason this “review” has such a timid tone, is because hard working people who spend their entire lives working 7 to 5 get to come home from their jobs and waste their money on a poorly executed service that is run by corporations that only care about the profits and not the advancements of the services they sell. This product should allow a common mid sized family (2 adults, 2-4 kids) the ability to all stream Netflix separately, and browse the internet separately with no problems whatsoever. Hopefully, the services offered to the hardworking and graciously paying consumer will exceed any expectations or needs they have in the soon future. This means, 960MBps download (dl) speeds not 960Mbps dl speeds, and upload speeds should be just as advanced. I am disgusted by the monopoly only 12 gigantic companies hold over the hundreds of millions of people that use their services and this soon needs to come to an end.

i replaced Netgear CM700 with my Arris DB6141 which is still in a good working condition. Xfinity said it no longer supports SB6141 hence the decision to go with a new modem. it was a close call between SB6190. i had no issues since i got SB6141 though. went with netgear since my router is netgear which i have had for 3+ years and doing great.my plan speed is 250 Mbps and the first week i was getting only 95 was bit disappointed but then made some rearrangements to my network moved some stuff from router to my switches and changed some cables to CAT 6 or to say new ones since the old cables were close to 6-7 years i know it was time.so far so good i see close to 230-255 mbps and close to my plan speed. it gets a bit hot so have to do something may be a small fan to cool it off.

    Customer – September 26, 2018

I bought the Netgear CM500V modem because it’s set up for Comcast internet and voice phone service. We had AT&T for years and switching was easy, plug it up, call customer service to register the device, and done. You do need a seperate router as this model doesn’t have one built in. Netgear does sell a more expensive model that has the router built in but since I had one already I opted for this model. Speeds are great and have had no issues at all. Buying this for approx. $125 is saving me rental fees of $11 a month, so it will pay for itself in short order. Very happy with this purchase.

This thing is blazing fast!! Our modem had been going out over the last few weeks so we finally decided to get a new one….this one is a little more pricey but I have a relative who works for Cox and he said this one is the best. He was right!! My internet speed literally tripled!!! I’d recommend it to anyone.

I initially purchased the CM600 for a 500mbps WOW! internet service, but despite it’s claim of supporting 900mbps+, it never consistently reached anything above 120mbps. A WOW! service visit was pointing towards the CM600 as being the issue. Defective? Maybe. Instead of replacing it with the like, I opted for the CM1000. As you can see by the screen shot, I’m exceeding my internet plan on a wireless connection. I highly recommend this with anyone with an internet plan of 500mbps or more. As a side note, this is paired with the ASUS Blue Cave router.

I upgraded my internet speed to 100 Mbps and noticed with my old modem I was getting about 45 Mbps. Had technician to come and check lines and connections to make sure everything was ok. My modem was showing it was connected and working fine. Technician asked how old was my modem. It was about 3 years old. He suggested I get a new modem and compare the speed test. I purchased the Netgear CM1000 and am now in the fast lane…..My speed jumped to 116.2 Mbps and 115.39 on two different speed test servers. Glad I made the upgrade.

150mps, Although I had issues setting it up, it was on comcast side. I had to call them to get them to do something with the mac address, I guess it was still on the old comcast one I had. Once that was resolved, boom 150MBps download speeds, no more comcast rental, begone, all good. 5/5, looks good, does the job, runs a bit hot but doesn’t bother me because it is located far away.

I noticed other reviews say it didn’t work with their Wave broadband cable internet. I’m not sure if they did something wrong, or perhaps it was Wave’s fault and has since been improved, but this modem works perfectly with my high-speed cable internet from Wave. I it plugged into my separate Netgear router, and from there hard-lined into a smart TV, PS4, Alexa and a Tivo. Everything works great. Wifi speeds are pushing 250mb down and 10 up, which is what my service package quoted me. Plus its a good looking modem.

For myself that i needed this modem because of the one i had originally was thru my ISP and tired of being basically dependent on them and renting one. I wanted to get one of my own and get that true 400 mpbs that I am paying for and potentially increase that later on.Pros: able to hit with my ISP internet subscription of 400 and uploads of as well of uploads of 20 mbpsCons: the only thing i found was the price, its the most versatile and future proofing

    Customer – January 30, 2019

Compact and very simple setup. I bought this due to not wanting to pay $11.00 per month while renting a modem/router combo from Xfinity and so far this modem has done a great job. I paired it with the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 which works great and offer fast reliable wifi while also offering great range. All in I spent around $160 for both the modem and router as I bought the router off eBay for a little over $100. However, I am very happy. Not only will this pay for itself with a little over a year but I am getting better speeds and a lot more stable connection while also being able to manage my own network with ease. Netgear makes the setup process fool proof so if you have any concerns about not being able to figure out how to set things up you can put those concerns to bed.

    Henil – January 31, 2019

I knew I needed a 16 channel downstream MODEM for my 250Mbps connection. MODEM are pretty simple, you make sure you have enough channels to cover your speed or you may limit the speed of your connection. Optimum technician took almost 1 hour for setting up connection. Overall I get speed around 100-150 Mbps which is lower compared to the plan I have but it’s enough for me to watch HD videos on 4-5 devices simultaneously.1. There is no way to mount this to a wall and while that may sound silly I have my network homerun to a closet and wall mounting would be the easiest way to keep it out of the way.2. It’s very lightweight and made of plastic like material so it’s easy for the cable to pull the MODEM off of it’s base and the glossy plastic shows fingerprints too easily.Summary:A solid piece of networking equipment. No frills casing but ultimately I can deal with that.

Comcast emailed me and said I could have 500mbps if I upgraded to Docsis 3.1. So I did some research and decided on this Modem. I had the Arris Surfboard SB6190 which worked great for my downloads around 250mbps. Once I received this item I installed it with ease and called Xfinity. They had me downloading at 480 within minutes. Modem runs cool and quite. Very happy with its speed for both download/upload/ping.As you can see over the last 5 months in the picture I have had very consistent results!

Got talked into a $15 speed bump (100 mega to 400)4. Plugged in my Eero wireless router, after a two min router re-cycle and bam! Done.Getting fantastic wireless speeds. Mostly 250-350 (again, paying for 400), but also some eye-popping tests as well. 700+ at times!Talking about the 32×8, DOCSIS 3.0

I’m not a super techy girl, but I did do my research before purchasing this. My biggest reason for picking this modem is that it doesn’t use the flawed “Intel” Puma chip. It came packaged very nicely and sealed with plastic. It was super easy to install and after a quick phone call to our cable company, we were up and running!

I like most Netgear products. I’m worried about the longevity of this item, though it’s not too bad. heat-related problems with electronics can be a bust. In other devices with thin computer chips that run way too hot to the touch, I have modified them with a heat sink. Heat is a hidden culprit to a lot of electronics. So 2 Stars on the durability Rate, because of the heat it gives off.

As much as I hated to do it, I had to let go of a perfectly fine modem (Linksys CM3024-docsis 3.0) unit for this which is docsis 3.1. If you can get the 1 Gig service, you need to upgrade to this, or let them rent you theirs. I have not changed my wiring to RG6 with only one line in, but I am hoping for more consistent numbers once i clean up my house wiring. So if you are trying for 1 gig service, this will have to be the road for you. I do notice the speed increase, because everything just pops up on my screens. Other devices like my camera system do slow it down quite a bit, and of course the amount of other traffic on system, but this is about your only way I can see to get close to the advertised speed without renting from them.UPDATE: After using a Netgear router with this modem, the router turns out to be bad. And it was a nice one that I updated. I really don’t like Netgears’ approach of asking for money for phone support after a few months, so I have gone to TP-Link for a router, but they don’t sell a docisis 3.1 modem yet.

I needed to upgrade my cable modem w/voice to take advantage of my “gig speed” connection. I chose the new Netgear CM1150V since it was on the Xfinity approved list, and was really the only option for a DOCSIS 3.1 modem w/voice. As you can see from the images I installed the CM1150V in my Structured Media Center (SMC). I removed the base with a Torx-8 screwdriver and attached the unit to mounting brackets with Velcro.Activation couldn’t have been easier. I connected my laptop directly to the modem, turned on the unit (it has a convenient On/Off switch), and within a short time a browser window popped up and I was connected to the Xfinity service. I stepped through the quick account verification steps and literally in about 10 minutes everything, including phone, were active and running fine.As installed in my SMC this modem seems to runs pretty cool… I can barely feel any warmth at the top of the unit. My main complaint is the very dim status lights, which can only been seen in the dark. I guess if the modem was installed in a visible location very bright status lights would be annoying, but I still think they could be more prominent.Download/upload speeds are good, but not nearly close to my advertised gig speed. I’m consistently getting about 300 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up. The cable infrastructure in our circa 1984 neighborhood probably needs an upgrade.Overall I’m very satisfied as this DOCSIS 3.1 unit should be “future proof” for quite some time and the moderate size allowed me to install it directly in my SMC in place of the old, obsolete Arris.

Love the design of this super fast cable modem. I did my homework/research and felt that this was the best equipment choice for my cable internet connection. I also thought about the future and any updates/upgrades my internet ISP broadband company might perform. The Netgear CM1000 was that solution. It was absolutely the easiest equipment install I have ever done. I read the install directions prior to tackling the install on my own and was pleasantly surprised. I ended up speaking with the Broadband company I have, giving the lady the MAC address, she put it in the system and before I could thank her, it was up and running. I purchased brand new, as I didn’t want any possible issues to come up with a used one. It was well worth the money to me and I feel this will last me a long time. Synopsis: Do the research, read the installation directions and go step-by-step and you will be fine. I am now debating if I should buy a new router, as the one I have is a few years old now. There’s always somethin’ eh?

I was weary of some negative reviews at first, but after reading online reviews from reputable sources, and trying it for myself, this modem is simply amazing!First off, setup was super easy. In a nutshell:1.) Power it up.2.) Connect Ethernet cable from modem to laptop and go to xfinity.com/activate3.) All you need to do is login like you’re about to pay a bill and that’s it – no account numbers or anything!4.) CALL XFINITY TO ACTIVATE YOUR EQUIPMENT!!! Do not skip this step!5.) Tell them the Serial Number and MAC Address (DOCSIS 3.1, not the DOCSIS 3.0 – look closely on the unit, not on the box, there are (2) MAC addresses, provide the 3.1 number).6.) Connect modem to router via Ethernet (Cat 6 minimum), connect phone line, and you’re gucci.Literally all those steps took me less than 15 minutes, including the call to XFinity.I had been wanting to switch to my own modem and start saving $11 per month (plus taxes) for a while, and finally decided to go for it. I hated paying the rental and then I also found out another little detail, you know that free XFinity hotspot thing they keep talking about, ever wonder where that comes from, that’s right, your rental modem/router. That sucker is turned on by default and XFinity is using your electricity to power up a public XFinity hotspot. Totally lame, I killed it ASAP in the XFinity My Account application as soon as I realized that. Next thing I did with the rental was turn off the WiFi by switching the unit into Bridge mode. Just some advice for people still renting. I highly recommend switching to bridge and using your own router, it’s way better than theirs. Better yet, buy your own modem and route. Ok, rant over, back to review. It is easily two times, if not three times smaller than the rental modem/router unit. Kinda goes as a given since it’s one device replacing two. And to that point, it is better to have two discrete devices than two devices in one package for reliability and ease of diagnosis. The device is also very discrete looking and sufficiently aesthetic, at least to me, to be in plain sight. Overall, the build quality, construction, and overall perception does seem to line up with the price tag. I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth for the time being. Reliability will ultimately solidify or uproot that.It boots up way quicker than the rental (~1-2 min) and performs better. The latency on my speed tests went down from 12-15 to about 7-9ms aand I’m getting just slightly better downloads but not by much. However, this is one of two of the only XFinity approved DOCSIS 3.1 modems – think up to 10Gbps connection. Now I’m on blast – 250mbps (getting all 250 and then some) but am thinking of going to 1Gbps. And while we’re dreaming, this modem will do 2Gbps with link aggregation, but the software update is still in the works. Basically two Ethernet cables from your modem going to your router, each 1Gbps but acting like a “single” cable to provide 2Gbps of total throughput. Way out of the league of most people, but XFinity does have a 2Gbps option over coax so I figured I’d throw it out there.I have only had it for a few days, but was so thrilled with the easy set-up and exceptional performance, I decided to leave a review. I will update ofcourse over the years with reliability and how it holds up, but so far, very promising.

I got tired of shelling out (even more) money to Comcast/Xfinity every month to rent their unit, so I picked up the CM1150V NETGEAR Nighthawk Multi-Gig Speed Cable Modem to use its place. This is NETGEAR’s top model and thus far it is performing as good or better than the Xfinity one. While hard to quantify, everything just seems “snappier”. WiFi connections happen quicker and download speeds have slightly improved. Streaming video to my SMART TV has yet to encounter any slowdowns or hangs. I have an OOMA hub so am not using the two optional phone lines. The swap out process was mostly painless, but it took about half an hour on the phone with Comcast before they had everything properly configured on their end. All I had to do was connect the new modem, hook it up to one of my laptops, and answer some prompts. They just needed my account number and the MAC address of the new modem. Maybe it was the representative I worked with, but this process took just over half an hour with me being on hold for much of it. If I had followed the quick start guide, this may have taken even longer. My unit is paired with a Norton wireless router. For the most part, I’m happy with the Nighthawk CM1150V, but it does have some issues. It has a smaller footprint, more connections options, is an upgrade capability wise, and looks cooler than the Xfinity Motorola box. BUT …it gets hotter during normal operation and before the first week was up I had to restart it to fix internet connectivity issues. I almost never had to do that with the Motorola. Seeing as how this is *my* modem, I hope it lasts and make it worth how much one has to spend on it outright. The operation LEDs are a lot tinier and harder to make out too, but that isn’t necessarily an issue as long as things are working. Fingers crossed that keeps on delivering an improved internet connectivity experience.~ Kort

This is not my area of expertise, but my husband is a total tech junkie so the following review is from him below:I acquired this model modem for its ability to expand with future growth of the networks in my area. As docsis 3.1 capable connections are not offered by my provider at this time, I was only able to verify its ability to connect at DOCSIS 3.0 rated speeds of 1gb/s . This model currently offers the most hardware expandability although some features are disabled by firmware and not used at this time. This model’s firmware is specifically supported by Xfinity (comcast) and will not receive updates from other providers so anyone not using Xfinity, beware. That being said, with help from tech support, I was able to connect to a COX network as they have similar models which they offer.During setup, you must use port 1 to connect to a lap/desktop before connecting a router. Ports 2-4 are disabled and for future expansion with firmware updates. Plugging an ethernet cable to any of 2-4 will interrupt connection in port 1 so don’t do it until the firmware unlocks them for use.The bundled VOIP connection saves an extra piece of hardware in your home and although in theory the network prioritization is neat, at the network speeds this modem is designed for, two phone lines aren’t going to corner a whole lot of the available bandwidth so shouldn’t concern those who are worried about connection interruption on the network.

I was able to connect easily to replace the old cable modem we leased from the cable company (RCN). Setup was easy a couple of days before the technician came to upgrade our service. Once there, he had to insert a “bridge” to allow multi-room TiVo functionality and read the Mac ID to the home office. (Prior to this step, we had WiFi, but it got better after this.)After he left, I realized we had 4k cable and TiVo, but no WiFi. Simple power cycling of all devices got us back in business. Enhanced speed and number of download “channels” means fewer WiFi problems. This CM500 is a cable modem, but paired with our Netgear N750 router, we’re very happy!

We have Comcast, We’ve been spending about $20 for modem rent for 4-5 years. We knew if We a modem we would of saved lots of money. But, We had been very lazy about that. Imagine 4-5 years * $10-20 per month… it adds up so much. I tried to negotiate with Comcast to lower down the modem fee. But, of course they said no. I knew a way to negotiate but it was such as hassle. So I decided to get this modem. Long story short, I regret why I didn’t get a modem sooner! this modem is supported by Comcast and it’s very easy to install. It took me less than ten minutes. **** Remind you, If you have Comcast there are specific instructions to set it up. So please follow that instructions. The modem works well so far. Our internet speeds are where they are supposed to be.I used google speed test and I got 69.8 Mbps download, 5.95 Mbps upload. It’s 8.75 MB/s. So for us its about 3 MB/s faster than what we were getting before we got the Modem and the Router.I paired it with ASUS RT-AC66U B1 AC1750 Dual-Band WiFi Router, They work well with each other.

Installing was a breeze got online with cox tech support text chat and gave them the serial number along MAC and they activated the modem. I was able to get this modem up and running with a call to register it with Comcast that took perhaps ten minutes. I am replacing an Arris Surfboard modem that was DOCSIS 3.0 compatible. That modem was fine, but our cable runs into our bedroom, to a dresser upon which the modem and router sit – and the Surfboard has very bright blue LED lights that were very intrusive at night. I had to cover it with a magazine, which is terrible for heat dissipation, and it was still too bright, because that modem’s white body leaked light all around. The Netgear Nighthawk CM1200 has comparatively very understated green LED lights, which do not shine in every direction (you can see pictured the lights on the front edge and some minor leakage on the side), and this this was nowhere near as intrusive at bedtime. I do not need to cover any of these lights with tape or barriers. I also really like the stand on the bottom of the modem – it does a much better job keeping the modem seated, even when a thick coaxial cable is attached (I had to wedge the Surfboard between the dresser and the wall). As far as performance, I have no complaints. The unit is DOCSIS 3.1 compatible, so should be more futureproof. I speed-tested 120mbps down and 12 up, which is exactly what we’re paying for. The speeds are also stable all day, and we seem to be able to stream video and do other data intensive PC tasks simultaneously. So let it suffice to say that this modem completely met my expectations.Overall, it is rather expensive for a modem, and that’s my main knock on it. But it provides solid, speedy performance, good, understated “dark night” lighting, and a good physical experience.

NETGEAR Nighthawk Cable Modem CM1200First off, if you are gaming this is the modem to have. I was using the modem Cox gave me with its Gigablast, that modem had terrible lag. I was around 30-40 ms Ping and found out it was because of the puma chip that it used. The Netgear CM1200 uses the Broadcom chip. No my speedtest show less than 10 ms ping and smooth curves all the way through. This won’t make your internet speed faster but it can make websites feel more snappy. This also makes a huge difference while gaming. The setup was super easy. Netgear includes a sheet with the phone numbers to all of the cable companies tech support. I plugged it in, called Cox, and 2 minutes later it was good to go. I returned my Gigablast modem to the Cox store and no more rental fees. What I really love about this modem is that it supports 10Gbs. I only have 1Gbs available in my area and don’t know anyone with 10Gbs. This modem should last for a while before the Internet service providers go passed 10Gbs. It also has 4 outputs with line aggregation. I don’t need it yet but with my network getting filled up with home automation and home security devices, I can see using this to have multiple networks.10 Stars!

We have had mediacom for 3 years and have had horrible service. Every 2-3 days our internet goes out and we have to physically unplug the modem to reboot it. Mediacom said our modem isn’t renewing the IP address when it changes. They gave us another and it did the same thing. I ordered this modem and once we got it setup (we had to call mediacom and they activated it over the phone in 2 minutes) it worked great. I did a speed test before i changed and got 26mb download with the rented router. As soon as the new one was hooked up I got 96mb. I was amazed. We did go buy a router since this one doesn’t have wifi. It was easy to setup as long as you remember to clone one of your computers IP addresses in the settings. We have been very pleased with this modem and the speeds since upgrading.

Why:I ordered this so I could save money on my internet bill, and later found out that I could have a modem that would allow me higher speed and reliability.Delivery:I ordered a new one but received a certified refurbished one. Asked for a replacement and a new one came free of charge. So that speedy service was a plus.Installation:I have spectrum as an ISP. The manual for the modem said that you have to connect the modem to a computer for it to do provisioning. I only have a MacBook Air, which does not have an ethernet port, so had to find an alternate way. On the install guide there is a website for different ISPs to activate your modem. the website on the card was outdated but quickly found an updated site. On the spectrum site it automatically did the provisioning in a about 5 minutes.Internet speed:After the complete install saw a difference in my speeds. I ran three speed tests. 1 of the router that came with the ISP and two after. The results are seen in the picture.Overall:Small footprint the design is simple and offers faster download due to having more downstream channels. I am happy with my purchase.

This is as best as you can get. Lots of channels for both downstream and upstreams. Make sure you use brand new and well branded coax cable. It stays online for a long time. No more online drops. Expensive but very worth it. Compared to the crap that Comcast rents you, you will get the value back after a year and a half. Definitely worth it for gaming and high speed internet.

UPDATE 08/23/2019 – I got this modem because I wanted to upgrade my internet and just have my own modem. Well it seems that, according to the Spectrum tech, it wasn’t compatible with the speed that I was getting (400/20). While I have my suspicions about that, they don’t charge me for the modem anyway (at least here in LA), so I opted to go with their modem and return this one. It didn’t really give me any issues but that doesn’t account for its longevity. If you want peace of mind from the PUMA 6 chipset, go with something else, but in my short experience, I had no issues with it.Got it installed today, had a wee bit of trouble activating it, but was Spectrum’s fault. Once it was activated, it ran as expected. I pay for 100/12. I get 118.46/11.80. About one megabit faster than my usual of 117Mbps upI heard about the PUMA 6 debacle and how much it can cause a lot of latency. My modem happens to be a hardware version 2.0. not sure if that means that it’s not Puma 6, but I ran the online test (Google Puma 6 Test) and it seemed to be well within nominal ranges. So I might have lucked out and got a version that doesn’t have the PUMA 6 chipset. So, you may be rolling the dice here, since others report that they indeed received a unit that does use the PUMA 6 chipset. If you want to be sure, go to the test page and check, return it if it’s mostly red. Check my screenshot for reference.I’ll update as time goes on.

The CM1200 is a great modem for Xfinity’s fiber services. I consistently get 941-946 down and 42 up via Ookla and through their Xfinity Speed Test.Overall, I do highly recommend this modem if you plan to have 1-2Gbs services and not having to lease a company modem. I do have this modem connected to an ASUS RT-AC5300 for the household wireless connectivity; although the modem itself has 3 more additional lan ports (the fourth being occupied by the router) if you desire to connect directly to the modem or have it connect to other devices.I’ll update this review if anything changes in a future date, otherwise its adequate for fiber speeds.

Note, in DFW, TX area, and have Gigabit service- which after swapping to the CM1000 the down/up load speed jumped to above 990M/50M, from around 780M/20M with the Cable Modem / router combo. The Nightgear Nighthawk CM1200 is a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem capable of 2Gb speeds. That’s crazy fast! I only subscribe to Spectrum for 200mbs download speed internet, so that is all I could test for with this modem. The modem will, of course, only put out what you pay for. Lol. The download speeds were actually 199-203mbps.This modem is easy to install and I like that it is compatible with Spectrum. Just call Spectrum and tell them your installing a new modem. Read off the number on the modem and they will send a signal to you activating the modem. Pretty easy. Now, in our area, Spectrum actually provides a free modem with their service. The Spectrum supplied modem is also a DOCSIS 3.1 and I’ll be comparing the Netgear CM1200 to it. On both modems, internet wasn’t always perfect, especially if someone is playing video games while someone else is streaming a movie. It didn’t necessarily load slowly or anything, it would just briefly cut out, causing the game to lag. I believe this is likely an issue with our service and not the modem, but I thought I should still mention it.Movies and music stream perfectly fine and downloading files on the computer is fast.Overall, this is a great modem. The only issue I have, which is in no way an issue with the modem itself. We purchase internet and a phone line from Spectrum. This phone line also requires a modem to convert the cable sygnal into a phone sygnal. Unfortunately, the Netgear modem doesn’t include the phone modem like the Spectrum supplied modem does. So if I keep this modem hooked up, my home phone won’t work. I could go buy a separate phone modem, but then I’m spending more money, when Spectrum provides their modem for free. While the Netgear CM1200 is a great modem, I haven’t found any benefits over the free Spectrum modem.Summary:1. Modem is a DOCSIS 3.1 and is very fast.2. Just call cable provider for easy hook up.3. Does not have a built in phone modem like Spectrums does.4. Does not have built in wifi, but you can connect an external one through ethernet.5. Has (4) 1gig. ethernet outputs.6. My Spectrum provider provides a free DOCSIS 3.1 modem (with built in phone modem) for me to use for free with their service. Their modem is just as fast.

Talk about a bait and switch! The ONLY reason I got this modem was the fact that it had 4 ports that supposedly worked. the modem is fine, the throughput is fine, but it irrates me to have to go through this disappointment from what I used to consider a trusted brand. There are WAY cheaper options and while I do have a GB connection, i really did not need the port aggregation. This is not in anyway worth the premium. Shame on Netgear. Google this and you will see I was not the only one duped.

Plugged in and connected to Cox cable. Setup instructions from Netgear walked me through setup with Cox Communications. Plugged in my Nighthawk Router and was in business. So far a strong and reliable connection. First time I have been able to take advantage of the advanced speeds I am receiving from Cox.

Amazing modem. Huge upgrade from the docsis 3.0 I had. I pay for 600down/25up through Comcast. This modem paired with the tplink ax6000 consistently gets me over 750+down. On occasion it breaks a gig!!! Screenshot is for 940. That’s hardwired btw. Well over what I pay for. Wifi is well over 300+ on a note 8. Sadly I don’t have any wifi 6 devices yet. Still faster than the docsis 3.0 was hardwired. I’m very impresses

I wish I had been aware of the Puma6 chipset issue. I got this modem to use on Suddenlink in August 2019. It is now Oct 31st–sadly after the window to return. It was chugging along at 400MBs down and 40 up and after ISP tested the line, and I attached my PC to the LAN port, It was clear that the bottleneck was/is this modem. Meaning I have to buy a new modem and light money on fire. Modems are simple and just have to be registered with the ISP and then “work”..This “Puma6” chipset issue from Intel is a killer. can go to dslreports.com to learn about it and run a similar test on your modem like in the picture. The dark speedtest is my grafana —top is download, bottom is upload…Just went to heck.

This is a no brainer!!! Plug it in , and call your service provider, they will provision it, takes only a moment, BANG you are on. I have Comcast/Spectrum, non stop for 4 years. I do get the advertised speed plus about 10 percent. Forget the package deals your service provider offers with built in WIFI/HOT SPOTS..You are the hot spot, that lets others use your bandwidth, and choke your speed as they drive by. Good for them, bad for you. If you need WIFI get a separate WIFI Router usually with more features, and better security than what is provided by a cable company. Asus, Netgear, Linksys, all make good solid units…..Also get the new CAT 7 cables for all of your runs, and you will see better speeds as the signal is much cleaner with no cross talk, and less signal loss. Which means the system does not have to resend over and over. Use the Netgear HUB/unmanaged switch ( NETGEAR GS305 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Home Switch | Desktop | Internet Splitter| Sturdy Metal | Fanless | Plug-and-Play | Unmanaged ) This will help keeping the speed up on all of your systems by handing off the load, and allowing it to help with the routing. A+++++ 473.44Mbps???VOTE thumbs UP IF YOU FOUND THIS HELPFUL

So I recently upgraded my xfinity internet to 175mbps but was informed that to get the best experience I would need to upgrade my modem to something with docsis 3.1. I had an old arris SB6121 that cost me $60 back when I had originally switched to xfinity and it was capped at around 172mbps. I was hesitant at first to shell out the $140 but leasing it for $13 a month is stupid so I bit the bullet. I plugged the new modem in and called customer service to register it and was online within minutes! I did a speed test and got over 200mbps. The customer service rep upgraded me to 275mbps and now i’m getting over 400mbps down. This has tremendously affected my home network and when gigabit becomes more affordable I have peace of mind knowing that this modem is ready.

Bought this to replace a SB6141 that died and kept rebooting all the time. Hooked this up, called WOW, gave them the MAC and within 5 min I was up and running. Easily hitting my 100down/10up Mbps on Speedtest runs that my WOW tier should.

Great modem on my 400Mbps Network! I had to get a replacement from a big box store as the one I ordered here would not work on my Spectrum Account, (If you look on the box it will not be compatible with Spectrum and no logo also. I went on Spectrum’s List of Compatible Modem and for the CM1000 it has to be Version 2! The one I purchased locally did in fact show Spectrum’s Logo right on the box. I installed and it connected to Spectrum’s Network right away and great speed (See photo from SpeedTest App) It is a great High Speed Modem for over 400Mbps!

It is very easy to install as most modems are, and should be. This is a modem, and will need a router to go along with it. The biggest advantage is that it is docsis 3.1. I combo’d it with nighthawk ax12. Spent around 700 for the complete set up. Visually Netgear app could use an update as not all functionality can be done directly through the app. Visually it’s not the most appealing, and not something I would want someone to see in the book shelf compared to the impressive visually appealing Netgear router. The worst design is the outlet which takes two spaces if you connect it to the wall, or power strip. The router also has the same outlet design with it taking two outlet spaces. I had to connect both to power strip, and they’re taking over two spaces each together. I know I’m being picky over something small, but it’s a flaw that most modems do not have.

This modem is fast! I was getting 235Mbs with my old modem and now I’m getting speeds of 600 Mbs. I am really happy with my purchase and new data speeds. I was up and running with 10 minutes from the time I got my package from the front door to testing my internet speed. I highly recommend this Netgear modem.

04-JAN-2020My low-voltage network is not very complex. Since I use Google Mesh Wifi devices I did not need a cable modem with a Wifi radio so the CM-700 fit the bill. Also, I am paying Xfinity for 200 Mbs and the CM-700 is rated for 500 Mbs so another reason why the CM-700 worked for me. BTW – speed tests reveal that I am constantly getting 239 Mbs so there does not appear to be any loss in my system.I rated the CM-700 with 5 stars on Wifi signal not becuase it has a signal, because it doesn’t, but because it supports my Google Mesh Wifi Points very well. I also rated it 5 stars on Tech Support because setup was so easy I did not need support. The attached photo is my low-voltage network layout.I have been using this system for 6 months and have had zero issues. I have never had one reset or hiccup.

I just received this modem and it looks used (lots of little scratches all over it). This is disappointing! Not sure if it works since I don’t switch to cable internet until next week. Being that I decided to purchase my own equipment, it’s probably best to return this now given the condition so I can get a new one in time.

Installation was fairly easy, while there is online activation it doesn’t seem to work for spectrum. After a failed attempt I called the number on the quick start guide (*note* I called the number on the site but it was an automated system that failed to activate it so make sure to call the number on the guide to avoid a small headache) and without any confusion had it activated and working in 15 minutes. Now as for speeds I had it connected to my computer for immediate testing, I performed three tests in three different sites; fast.com, speedtest ookla, and google speedtest. On average I received a result of 470 Mbps, I pay spectrum for 400Mpbs. Sadly that was the last of the good news. After the testing I promptly moved the modem downstairs to its rightful place aside the router, and the signal drops began. After booting it for the first time with my router connected everything seemed fine until about 13 minutes later I noticed my connection was gone on my computer, I walked over to the modem and saw that it had lost connection to the isp. After this I kept my eye on the clock and almost every 13 minutes it would drop the signal and 2 minutes later it would come back. It did this about ten times in a row. Luckily after this I decided to ignore the drops and hope that it was just temporary, after that it dropped signal after 30 ish minutes and later would stay online for another hour and a half. I haven’t noticed any more drops since that night.Moral of this story is; it’s a good modem but do keep in mind the one and two star reviews as they probably are a possible outcome you could get after buying this modem. I bought it used as the price difference was over 100 dollars and honestly expected it to be dead on arrival, so if you have the chance buy used since you can just return or replace if it doesn’t work

It’s only been one day but I really like this so far. I have Xfinity and did a self activation but I still had to call. No problem. The entire process took only 15 mins I married this to my Google Nest Wifi and what can I say.. It just works. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of the other 4 ports which you can’t use now. Waiting for the firmware update.

Very frustrated that I spent two years struggling with my internet service which I blamed on the provider only to find out recently that my modem was the issue. I only ever got around 15-30 Mbps out of this modem despite paying for 100Mbps internet service. Once a different modem was connected, the issue was resolved and I was receiving over 100Mbps based on speed tests. All along it was the modem that came with good reviews and was certified for use with Comcast Xfinity internet which is what I have. I wasted hundreds of dollars because of wanting to save money on equipment rental fees and purchasing this modem. I am purchasing a different modem but annoyed I am out the money I spent on this and the service I wasn’t getting because of this modem.

I recently moved to an area with cable ISPs only (no more Fios for me) so I begrudgingly looked for a good cable modem to add to my networking equipment. Since I was getting Gigabit with RCN, I had to have a 32×8 DOCSIS 3.1 modem, and the issue with PUMA 6 chipset make it so that the choices are rather limited. I bought the CM1000 when it was on sale for about $100. So far after running it for 2 months I must say it definitely works very well. My connection is stable, and I do get the full speeds I’m paying for. I’d definitely recommend pairing this with a good router. Your ISP’s modem+router combo boxes can’t compete with a high performing modem and router setup.

This is a decent modem, but it is outclassed in specs and build quality by both the Arris SB8200 and the Motorola MB8600. It is also vulnerable to a critical exploit which can potentially leave your network open to others.I originally chose the CM1000 because I had a great history with my CM600. Throughout the years I owned the CM600, the device never needed reboots, and my signal quality was great. It is currently serving as a modem at my parents home. Now that I have gigabit internet, I needed a more powerful modem. The CM1000 disappointed me with the build quality. The base is made of plastic and feels very cheap and wobbly. I also think having a thin and wide plastic base looks less than appealing, but most people won’t be looking at their modem, so it isn’t a huge dealbreaker. The CM1000 has lesser specs than the competing 3.1 modems however, and this was very noticeable. The modem homepage loaded extremely slow, and during the 2 weeks that the modem was working, the connection was not always perfect.I gave up on the modem after having completely lost connection to my isp. Upon further research into troubleshooting, I found out that this modem is susceptible to a vulnerability known as “Cable Haunt.” This is a critical security exploit which can potentially give an attacker control of your modem. This issue is made worse due to the fact that firmware updates are pushed out by ISP’s, and not every internet provider will update modem firmware. I was stuck with a modem that wasn’t currently operational, and one that had a security exploit that wouldn’t be fixed as my ISP (Suddenlink) does not push out firmware updates. My solution was to switch to the MB8600, which has much better build quality, a surge protector on the coaxial input, more RAM, and is not currently listed as being vulnerable to the Cable Haunt exploit.
