A bit pricey but should be good to go for the next 5 years or so! Replaced a legacy “zoom” as it was reaching EOL via Comcast/Infinity. I had no difficulty registering it online via “CHAT” at comcast. sent in MAC & S/N and about 10 minutes later we had a connect. We support separate modem & wireless router (also Netgear) due to Negear’s router range. We also connect to the router via CAT5. Remember to turn your router OFF though prior to contacting them. Once you see all 4 top lights solid (should be green) and the bottom one at least ON or blinking, THEN turn your router ON. you should then be able to ping “comcast.net” once the router obtains the new IP (which takes a coupla minutes for this router). Finally I want to mention to ALWAYS change the default PW on your router!

I bought one of these since Comcast was asking me to upgrade the current modem I had and keep charging me for it. I decided since I needed to upgrade anyway I would get my own. It was easy to setup. Once it booted it took me right to an activation page. It took two tries to activate but it was very quick to do. I speed tested right before I disconnected the old modem and was getting about 140Mbps. After switching I speed tested again and was getting about 240Mbps. I was paying for 100Mbps service but they recently said they upgraded in my area to 200Mbps service for the same cost. I’m very happy with this modem and it will save me $10 per month.

I was tired of paying for a modem by Spectrum so I decided to get myself one. This modem is compatible with Spectrum and it is a lot better then the cheap modems that Spectrum makes you rent. Definitely made a big difference in my reception. Save yourself some money and buy yourself your own modem if you have cable tv and internet. This modem is pretty small so you can tuck it away easily. It does get warm so keep it in an open area. If it didn’t heat up so much then it would have gotten 5 stars.

I’ve read many reviews about the Netgear CM700 and the potential issues with the Intel Puma 6 chipset. Many online reviews of this cable modem indicate that there are issues with drop outs and jitter. I called Netgear Tech support and was told that those issues have been resolved through firmware updates and are are no longer valid. I purchased the Netgear CM700 cable modem and I will tell you…it’s great. Don’t be put off by online reviews that are 1-2 years old.
15-June-2018 Our internet browsing experience started getting slower and I started thinking it was the cable modem. After researching, I found that one of the biggest issues for latency and slow web browsing was due to the default DNS server provided by my ISP. I changed our DNS server settings to Google Public DNS and the difference is like night and day. Even though an internet speed test may show similar results, using Google Public DNS settings made surfing the web snappier with almost instantaneous loads of websites. Still very happy with the Netgear CM700 that has the Puma 6 chipset.

My boyfriend and I purchased this in a combo with “Netgear (R7000-100PAS) Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Router”. We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I must say, we are BOTH happy campers!! My boyfriend and I are both video gamers, not heavy into it but at least enough where we play a couple hours a night on our computers or on our separate X-Box’s. We had a modem given to us by our internet provider (Timewarner/Spectrum) that we’d been using for at least two years, but we were having troubles with the internet being slow, even after repeated calls to Spectrum.
Figuring our modem had just finally crapped out, we went to walmart and purchased an Arris surfboard and if anything, that made the problem worse to the point where I couldn’t even look at Facebook videos on my phone while my boyfriend was playing on his computer. My phone constantly kicked me off the internet, and if I tried the xbox while he was on the computer, it would kick us BOTH off mulitple times. Again, endless calls to our internet provider, tried switching modems, nothing worked. Finally as a last ditch effort, we decided to go big or go home and purchased this and the “Netgear (R7000-100PAS) Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Router”, as I stated earlier.
No longer do we get kicked! In fact, it improved our internet speeds! I’m not a tech person, not with modems and routers and stuff like that so maybe we really didn’t need to buy this but I can tell you that I’m glad we did. Would I recommend it to someone? You bet I would! I wish I could give it more than five stars. My boyfriend and I are both extremely happy with this purchase!

I have spectrum’s top internet which is up to 400mbps down and I get around 15-50 upload. I bought this modem and I also got my own router so I wouldn’t be bound to their refurbished trash that I had to replace every few months. Now, this modem worked fine up until about a month ago and then my internet would stop working about every hour. Then it got worse to every 3 minutes and was so frustrating. I replaced it with a spectrum modem I had from before and my internet is back to normal. However, when I got this modem I did not notice much, if any, of a difference in latency or speeds over the refurbished spectrum modems I was using. I have an ASUS router (AC-3100) which is excellent. Overall, I wouldn’t waste money on this modem given the fact that I have no support now from them since it’s been over a year. I thought a modem should last longer. It’s not a terrible product, just nothing special and didn’t last me long enough.

Comcast spent most of the day today trying to troubleshoot why our internet was suddenly down. After replacing all of the coaxial cable to the house, they identified the modem as the problem. I logged into the modem’ s admin panel and even though it said the cable connection was good, there was no internet signal to my laptop through an ethernet cable. Comcast loaned me a modem and our internet works again. Good luck finding warranty information on the Netgear website. I’ve never owned a modem that went bad after so short a time. This thing is now headed for the trash can. I’m very disappointed and cannot recommend Netgear to friends and family.

I have been using this modem for a while, it actually improved my connection over the standard Comcast offering when I was only running their 600 mb/s package. Upgraded to their Gigabyte and they insisted on me running their modem so I gave it a shot. Benchmarks with the TG3482G (Comcast Modem) on a Gigabyte plan were maxing at around 450 Mb/s range – worse than before I upgraded. I accessed my modem and threw it in bridge mode hoping that would fix it with the tech and tried changing so many settings and nothing worked. I sat on the phone for hours with these people doing every possible test to figure out what was going on and why my internet speeds were sh*t and all for nothing. Finally I got so heated I told the tech to switch back to my CM700 immediately or cancel my services – he reluctantly did it and low & behold – CM700 back online – and now I am averaging 927 Mb/s down and 43 mb/s up while peaking over in the 1015 mb/s range. Love this modem.
