Didn’t work in a Century Link internet.

Setup was easy but a couple of wrinkles that needed mentioning. The CenturyLink tech supplied me with VPI and VCI values which were already configured properly but still no internet connection. I asked him for the username/password and was told that no login was needed for my connection so I chose the “No login needed for my connection” radio button on the internet configuration page and my internet immediately connected. BTW, my CL connection is ADSL2+ and, so far in the first day of use, has been solid. Having gigabit connections for wired devices and 5ghz wireless radio are big wins over the Zyxel 1100C modem that this replaces. And the D6400 is pleasing visually.Only 2 cons I see so far:Does not support bonded line connections (possible future for my area)Price

Excellent router/modem. Solved performance issues I was having

Fantastic when it works but failed 9 months after purchase. The Netgear RMA process is brutal as well; I am stunned that I have to pay shipping after their flagship router failed while on warranty.

Only thing was that this device performances was so much slower than the one my CenturyLink ISP gave me. So I switched back to the ADSL modem device they gave me and it’s working fine again. Didn’t speed up the connection or improves any connection losses. I think I’ll upgrades my internet connection plan soon to see if it solves the connection issues. I’ll also get the ADSL high speed internet cable on Amazon to replace the standard green telephone cable they sent to me with the DSL modem in the bundle set up box.

Consistent high power output. We have over a dozen devices and it gives good power to all. Looks good enough to not need to hide.

An electrical storm fried my previous NetGear Modem/Router. I like the security features offered by NetGear, so I began looking for another one. The challenge I faced was that my ISP uses a DSL connection and not Cable (and I wasn’t about to change ISPs and get sucked into a long-term contract at this time), and good DSL modems/routers are more difficult to find…and I’m not sure if NetGear is continuing in the ‘DSL’ market (the one I found was ‘new’, and it was the only one I could find on Amazon…the other ones were ‘used’). So far, so good. Hardest part was connecting with my ISP (had to telephone them to find out what username/password to use so that I could enter it into the modem configuration and get the connection with my ISP).

I purchased this modem to replace my old, but awesome, TP-Link Archer D9 that is beginning to age. This was a mistake. After taking the nice, new, shiny Nighthawk modem/router out of the box, I was quite impressed by its design and rigidity. I fired this puppy up and had it connected to my DSL network within a minute or two and ran the latest update with no issues. The speeds were reading VERY well on this device across my network after a few speed tests and browsing….And then it happened…Within the hour of great surfing, all connections stopped. Maybe a minor setup error? Let me check. All of my devices (wired and wireless) could no longer see the web. WiFi connections to it were rejected, so I set this up to broadcast the 2GHz and 5GHz bands separately. Even with a network cable, the configuration page would only time out and pings were dropping left and right. No biggie…. A quick reset would quickly restore it. Whew, that was a close call. I am back in business again. At least I thought. After another 45 minutes, the modem bricked again. What in the hell, man? This time, my paper clip was of great use to reset this thing back to default to rebuild it again just in case my years in the IT field resulted in a minor “oops” moment. This time, the settings were very basic. I bypassed the wizard and set my ISP info. That was it. This time, I connected to my VPN and browsed through it. Low and behold, I am down again. Now I am hot!!!All of this fresh new plastic was giving me ulcers. My network was down and the modem was completely cold to the touch. What is really going on here Netgear? I fired up my LTE and did some snooping around on this modem to find out what the deal was. Needless to say, quite a few people noted that this modem has a problem with freezing and it is hit or miss. The updates did not fix the issue for some. Either you get a good one, or you will get a brick. There is no rhyme or reason for the failures and unresponsiveness that plagues this device. Not to worry though, my TP-Link was looking for the opportunity to be loved again, so that saved the day. I had such high hopes for the Netgear, but will leave this one for the birds. Netgear is now off my Christmas list by packaging an expensive brick in a box.

Piece of junk! Worked good for the first few months. The longer I used it the more often I had to reset the dumb thing to make it work. Finally put it on a timer to reset every few hours. Even at that I couldn’t reset it often enough. Through it in the trash and replaced with an Actiontec C1000A. Been running 3 weeks now without a single glitch.

Very nice. Easy set up and has been working for a year now w no issues. Only needed to restart once.

This is a terrible product and the customer service provided by Netgear is severely lacking. One would think for the price it would be a stellar piece of hardware, sadly one would be incorrect. This model continually looses it’s connectivity but fails to indicate a problem, every indication on the modem is that you are up and running. the number of times I’ve had no internet connectivity and the router has failed to indicate a problem is absurd. It is a sad state of affairs when the modem CenturyLink provides is a better modem than one purchased at a premium.

It didn’t work wouldn’t connect to the internet. The instructions that came with it were for a different product.

Excellent reception and easy set up. One of those products that is just a set it up and forget about it cause it just works.

Have used with my Centurylink DSL for several years now. The wireless range on this is great, far better than the typical Centurylink unit.Centurylink does not support this unit and Netgear support is useless. I had a time getting it configured, turned out the missing item was “VLAN ID” which needed to be set to 201. If your Netgear sees the DSL signal and your login / password info is correct and it won’t connect, be sure to go into the Internet settings screen and put 201 in the VLAN ID box.The Centuryling C2100T is a good unit and costs about $80 less, that is plug and play, and you may want to go that route. I have the 2100T also, the wireless range is a bit better on this one though. Now I have two good routers. Oh well…
