Great little router! I bought this 6 months ago@Costco, this baby is fast hooked up to my Arris TG862G, 114 download/12 upload-

Very, very satisfied! I was in the need for a new wireless router after I discovered that I was not getting the speed I was paying for with my high-speed internet plan. I was averaging around 20-25Mbps, while paying for 75Mbps. I quickly traced the problem to my old Linksys wireless router, which clearly needed to be updated. After researching various routers in $100-$200 price range, I narrowed the field down to this Netgear AC1750 and the TP-LINK AC1900. I am loving this Neatgear! Setup took minutes (no tech knowledge, just followed instructions), and my devices are screaming, with zero drops or issues (my network carries 2 laptops, 1 desktop, Roku3, Ooma VOIP, 2 iPads, and 2 iPhone 6S’s.) Speed tests on 2.4GHz range from 50-60Mbps, while tests on 5GHz are consistently at 75GHz. The attached photo shows tests on 2.4GHz (60.84Mbps) and 5GHz (75.76Mbps). Completely satisfied.

Was getting terrible speeds with my old router but this router fixed my problem. Great router but be sure to have plenty of space for it.

These are my impressions of the NETGEAR AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi Router, 802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit (R6400-100NAS). The comments below are my honest impressions of the router and were not influenced by my receipt of this router free of charge.I recently cancelled my U-Verse TV service and converted to only over the air television with all other entertainment over the Internet. Needless to say, data connectivity is now more important than ever. After having significant trouble remaining connected with my previous AC router from another manufacturer (reboot was required every 2-3 days), I was reluctant to try another brand of AC router. Due to the significant number of walls in my home (as well as the location of my router in a central closet), I knew that beamforming technology would offer me the best opportunity to connect at the highest speeds throughout my home (my previous router did not have beamforming technology). Here are my impressions of the Netgear AC1750:Pros:1) Setup/Management – This is BY FAR the easiest setup and management software I have ever used. Essentially, plug and play. FANTASTIC2) Speed – ~10Mbps faster then my previous router at the furthest point in my home3) Form factor – This is a sleek looking router in a smaller than expected footprint (about 2/3 that of my previous AC router) making it easier to mount on the wall4) USB 3.0 connectivity – Excellent for adding a storage device5) Multiple Ethernet ports – I am using one of the Ethernet ports as a wired connection to my office PC. There is no degradation in speed through the router – throughput remains very quick.Con’s:1) Antenna’s are fixed to the router – not a deal breaker but care must be taken when adjusting them to the appropriate reception angle2) LED’s are BRIGHTAfter a few weeks of use, this router has proved flawless. No dropping of signal, throughput speed is fantastic and the beamforming technology ensures that all of our devices remain connected throughout my home. At $149, you would be hard pressed to find a more fully featured router that gives you this type of performance. I would not hesitate to recommend it to my family and friends.

Works like a charm. One star was deducted because the top stick fingerprints easily. I suggest you to not peel of the plastic cover if you don’t want it to become permanently dirty. Not too obvious though. Also, the LED lights are very bright. If you plan to install the router in your bedroom, cover the lights with something.

Bought this to replace an old Netgear and Belkin N routers and wow what a difference! We have a 2100 sq ft home and the signal covers upstairs and the basement with no trouble. In fact I went outside and was able to walk about 30 feet around the house and had a good signal just about everywhere and I could go even 50 feet away from the house in some places. We are using 7-12 devices at any given time on the wireless network and haven’t seen a speed loss on a 30mb/sec Cable internet which is only giving me 16-18mb currently. And at any time there can be 3 of us streaming movies as well as using our phones. The Netgear genie software which you download from their site is easy to use and setup if you have a little bit of network experience. even if not you should have no problems. I would also suggest using both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bandwidth to distribute the bandwidth better. I use 2 phones and Laptop in the family room where the router is to help with the load. And using the lan ports for a desktop, printer and Apple tv

Got this during the Cyber Monday week 2015; it was 90 dollars, but I would gladly pay 150 for this router.A little bit of info about my needs: I’m a freelance translator specialized in audiovisual material (videos, games, etc.) and have to receive and send large files daily. Further, I often have to video chat with my clients over Skype or Google Hangouts, which means I need a stable and fast internet connection. However, this is not all: we are 9 people in my household. Yep. You read that right. 9. Nine. Each one of us has at least two devices and three of us are gamers. There is a Vizio smart TV in the living room and we mainly use it for Netflix. As you can imagine, we consume a lot of bandwidth, so we got a 30 Mb plan from our local cable company just to keep up. At best, we would get 8 Mb; not close to enough. We upgraded to the 50 Mb. Internet performance improved marginally. At this point, my entire family got frustrated and started blaming our cable company (and I kinda wanted to, too. Cable companies are evil). However, I did a simple test: I connected my computer directly to the modem and got 47 Mb/s. Conclusion: our old router showed its age; after years of hard work, it was time for retirement. So, I set out to buy a new one. I read a few reviews and decided to get this one last November. The first thing I noticed when I got it was the size. It’s HUGE compared to our old router, which didn’t even have an antenna. I set it up according to the instructions and, as soon as I was done, tested the connection. 44 Mb/s on the 2.4 Ghz network. Slightly faster on the 5 Ghz one. My point is: this thing is FAST.Right now, half of my family is watching Netflix in the living room and my brother is playing over the Wi Fi. I just did an internet test and got 36.97 Mb/s. Freaking awesome.Pros1) It’s fast2) It’s reliable3) It has enough ports to fulfill the needs of most people (one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0)4) Simultaneous dual band5) Excellent range even on 5GhzCons1) It’s huge and difficult to hide2) I think it’s nice to look at, but some people might disagree. Was it worth it? Oh, yes. Yes it was.

The Truth –
I’m a former network engineer and technology consultant, and I was embarrassed when my wireless repeaters failed to stream an Amazon Prime movie from my bedroom router to my outside smart TV. Wireless repeaters work well for a while, but they’re subject to all kinds of wacky interference and NONE of the ones I’ve tried (about 11) have proven to be reliable. My last resort was to install another wireless router. I had heard good things about the Netgear R6400 AC1750 smart router from my customers (to whom I actually recommended sight-unseen based on your reviews – THANK YOU), so decided to try one for myself. It was very easy to install with a well-illustrated manual written in plain English, which was a nice surprise. I’ve heard from customers that their free support is very helpful too. Increased my wireless signal from -58 dBm to -37 dBM with no drops whatsoever – the minimum recommended wireless signal for HD video is -60 decibels per milliwatt, so anything closer to zero is better, and your signal is actually doubled with every +3 dBm increase. It’s a logarithmic thing. It’s not the latest and greatest or the fastest and more powerful, but I was looking for reliability, and so far this is the one to get. Heard some things about the new Nighthawk series and dropped signal, so thought this R6400 was proven and a better investment.

As college student, I recently lived in a 70’s era single family house with three roommates and we shared the highest speed cable internet through Mediacom (which is a southern version of Comcast) and six months worth of my one year lease was spent fighting with them over poor connection: DNS fails, constant disconnects and slow internet on both Ethernet and WiFi. They “repaired” it more than ten times. Finally when the Ethernet was working well enough, I went to connect to WiFi and the signal from their company modem was AWFUL. More calls, more fights, until one tech told me that I needed to get my own router, because their ISP provided modem’s built in WiFi was weak. At the time, buying a small $40 WNR2000v5 Netgear router was an instant problem solver and I was more than happy for the remainder of my lease there, getting 40 Mbps of my 100. It had quite a range, considering the house was huge. No one had problems connecting to it.However, like all college students know well, roommate situations are never perfect. I moved out to a new apartment when our lease ended and transferred my Mediacom service to a two bedroom apartment in a two story complex and within the first two months, it was clear we had gone a step back. Noise on the lines, poor service. It took weeks to get the Ethernet working well, and even then, they had to replace my modem when lightning struck too close and fried mine. So I get their new modem in the mail (it’s a monster sized one) but even with the Ethernet overclocking at 115 Mbps I haven’t been getting more than 3 Mbps from my bedroom on WiFi. This apartment is not big and only has one cable port, which is in the living room. Even using a longer Ethernet cable to bring the router less than 5 feet away, and going through two walls to my bedroom, it was still under 10 Mbps. In the living room, I got around 30 Mbps. My little trooper of a router just couldn’t get through all the obstructions. I thought maybe the upstairs neighbor must have their plumbing and electric lines routed through our walls.I will tell you now, I cringed at the price tag. $127 for a router is pretty dear, but when it arrived and I got it plugged into the modem, INSTANTLY I was getting 30+ Mbps from my bedroom with the router set at the furthest possible distance. That was on a weekday, middle of the afternoon when most people are at work or school, through two walls, a water heater and an AC unit. From the other side of the wall in the second bedroom, we were getting 115 Mbps on WiFi. I can’t wait to see what my speeds are when I move it more centrally. I decided to set it up with both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz options, which was built in, but I never had success with on the Mediacom modem. It is now Saturday evening, when everyone and their kids are using the internet, and here are my speedtest results for each room on 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz respectively:Living Room – 2ft away with no obstructions2.4 GHz = 35.19 Mbps5.0 GHz = 95.94 MbpsBack Bedroom – 6 ft away, through one wall2.4 GHz = 38.25 Mbps5.0 GHz = 90.99 MbpsFront Bedroom – 15 ft away, through 2 walls, AC unit (formerly got 3 Mbps)2.4 GHz = 18.69 Mbps5.0 GHz = 84.38 Mbps(See pictures for full results.)I plan to move the router more centrally by using a longer Ethernet cord, which will help avoid the AC unit that is directly behind the living room wall. It should even out the signals between all three rooms, but as far as I’m concerned, the results speak volumes for the range and power of this modem. It’s definitely worth the buy!

Amazing router! Simple to connect and start using! The speed is incredibly amazing: x10 faster than ARRIS SBG6580 (screenshot with new speed – attached). ISP: Comcast. I love this device!

First impression not that bad. Getting way better speads than my Arris SBG6580.

Purchased this due to our old router not producing fast enough speeds. Couldn’t stream on Netflix with the router in the next room. The last routers range was horrible couldn’t even get a signal up stairs on the second level. This new router has range for streaming in all rooms of the house now. I would definitely recommend buying this product. First screenshot is speeds upstairs, second is down stairs.

This is a great router. Very easy to set up with the Netgear Genie. Took me about 10-15 minutes from opening the box to complete, and it would probably take you less because I am not very good at these things. This thing is so fast it really put a big smile on my face. I was wondering why I was paying so much for awful, slow internet and I decided I couldn’t take anymore. For the price you can’t get better. Buying this router will increase your wifi speed, hands down. If you’re on the fence, just do it and you will be happy.

Just updated my router from Netgear Wireless-N 300 Router to Netgear AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi Router. Was paying for 100Mbps speed from the local cable company but was only getting 9.6 on a good day. After installing the Netgear AC1750 which was a lot easier then I expected, just unplugged the power from the cable modem & switched routers then rebooted the cable modem then follow the onscreen instructions that pops up on your computer & you are good to go. I went from 9.6 Mbps download speed to 108.4 Mbps and gets better & stronger WiFi range. Checked every room in my house with my phone and never lost one bar, WiFi now covers every room in the house which is a two story 15 room house with some brick walls. Outside the house I can now sit on the deck with a tablet or laptop with full service, the back yard I get 2-3 bars of service where before I never got any service. I’m extremely happy with this purchase. Here is a picture of the outside of my house so you know the size & can compare to the size of yours. I have the router installed in the upstairs portion of the house in the second bedroom which is about a third of the way into the house. For the price it is well worth paying the extra 50-60 dollars for the service you get from this router.

I bought this from Best Buy for around 100 and it is so worth it! My old Netgear router which I’ve had for 4 years died and became super slow and crappy so I’ve decided to get a new one! I setted this router up from just my iPhone! It is simple! Just power the router, restart the modem, wait for about a minute then connect them. Now just connect to the router. If you are on a phone it would probably have something pop up telling you to do something and your wifi should be set up! If you are on a computer just connect then go to routerlogin.com and set it up. I normally get 40 Mbps with the 2.4 connection and 65 Mbps with the 5g connection, I get 4 Mbps upload speed for both. I thought my ips was screwing with out Internet when our old wifi suddenly keep disconnecting all our devices and we have to keep resetting it. If you have an old router for over 3 years I would recommend getting a new one. The speed doesn’t always matter on the router, it matters most in your internet service provider (ips). This router has a huge range. It even goes out to my backyard and I can go up this rocky hill we have in our backyard and chill and watch videos and hang out while still having a solid connection! I would recommend using the 2.4 connection if you are outside your house because the 2.4 connection has more range but not as fast. The 5g connection is faster but the range isn’t as good. Both connection covers my entire house and still staying at full connection 3/3 bars. But in the backyard it would constantly change from 2/3 bars to 3/3.

I have Cox for my internet service provider, I pay for 150mbps and I was rocking a Netgear N600 router and was only getting 40 to 50mbps. I installed this and I have gotten it all the way up to 181mbps holy cow that’s a huge difference. I love this thing!!!!

Excellent. Working perfect.

I rarely write reviews but this product deserves it, i have attached a photo with the speed test before installation and after, installation was so easy, took me about 10 minutes to be up and running. On the photograph you can see the difference after i finished with the installation at 8pm, just amazing!

Kept it one day and am returning it. Really wanted good parental controls and these are absolutely horrible. Interface is very user unfriendly and so many limitations. I cannot have different choices for different days. What my teen gets on a school day is the same as what they get on a weekend. I cannot choose no internet at all overnight – I can only limit what websites they can access. This means they can stay up all night messaging! I had problems with the software on three different devices. On my iMac all the devices would show up as being connected then immediately show that they were offline – including the device I was on and using! On my iphone I got a message after the first day that my router did not support the software. I was able to use it the first day – this showed up on the second day. On our Dell PC I kept being told I had to connect to the internet via the router to use the parental controls even though I was on the internet and obviously through the router as there was no other way to connect to the internet!! I was on hold for ages to speak to tech support then got someone who had such a thick accent and the connection was so bad I had to keep asking him to repeat. Then he kept putting me on old to go do something, check something or speak to someone. After 1 hour and 10 minutes on the phone I was told I needed to return the router for a refund. The product itself works. This was not a hardware problem with the router. We were connected. The problem was the awful software and the difficult customer service. I have ordered a links’s and am hoping for something a little better. At least their parental controls look like proper parental controls.

We purchased this NETGEAR-AC1750 Router b/c we were experiencing very spotty-to-nonexistent reception with some of our Wi-Fi tech-toys throughout the house. With this upgrade, we are getting excellent reception in every room of our home (2100 sq. ft., one story). We are very happy with the new router. It was easy to set up for all of the components that we use (TV, Tablet, Smartphones, desktop and laptop computers). We had not upgraded our Router for 3 years, so we needed to do so to keep up with the demands of modern technology. We stayed with NETGEAR!!

I have been using this router for over a month and so far it has been working great. Like others, I did a before and after assessment of the internet. We have Comcast and we pay for the Blast (150) which promotes 150 mbps download and 10 mbps upload. I previously had a TP-Link router, and we were getting 9 ping, 64.18 Mbps download, and 12.15 upload. After we installed this new router, the regular connect got 15 ping, 105.44 mbps Download, and 12.22 mbps Upload. Quite an improvement from before. Then I connected the 5.8GHz and ran the speed test. The stats were 15 ping, 165.92 Mbps Download, and 12.19 Mbps Upload. The upload is still better than the original router, but is slightly less than the normal mode.Overall, I have noticed such a difference in internet speeds. I also have had less “dropping” of my internet when in use. I haven’t had to worry about resetting the router, which was very common with my old one. The range is great as well. It reaches across my whole house with cement brick walls. I have zero issues anywhere in the home, which is also better than the old device. This was a bit pricey, but it really is worth the money. I am really happy I invested into it. If you are renting a router, this pays for itself after a year. I will update if I run into any issues in the future.

Great router, reaches all 4 bedrooms, and most importantly signal is strong in garage where I workout and use YouTube for music. Signal also reaches to the street where I park my car.

I bought an extender from Netgear and the range was more than perfect for my home BUT (there is a ‘but’) I didn’t have all the control I wanted when away from home, none actually without the Genie app so I went back to the store and exchanged it for this AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi Router (R6400) and I couldn’t get more happier. Now I got control of my router from work or wherever I’m. I can see my kids from my security cameras and limit the access control (internet) temporarily to any of the 3 of them if any is doing their homework while using their phone or tablets to be on any social media.

Very easy to set up via my genie app. I bought this to replace my 3 year old netgear n series router. It was decent, but at times, there are 10 or more wifi devices connected was getting to be too much traffic. So I stepped up to a good AC router, and it seems to be handling the high demand very well. This is paired with my arris modem, and I’m very pleased so far.
sharpie22 –
Very good router for the price. Fixed all of my connection problems that I was having in my house with much better wifi range. Easy setup, and instructions are very detailed. Plus it looks awesome sitting on the shelf. Runs my Amazon fire stick way better than my last linksys router.

Excellent router. Super fast speeds, steady reliable connection. It consistently clocks us faster than our cable company says is currently available with their service(though they will be upgrading “soon”) This is a much more hassle free router than our other Netgear gigabyte router we have had for the last year, which constantly dropped signal. This one is a winner. It’s a very steady connection like I said, and we use a Roku for all of our TV’s & stream TV exclusively. We have three going at any given time plus 3 phones & often a couple iPads and laptops also going and this router handles it all seamlessly. And the Netgear genie app for iPhone has a very easy interface, or you can download it to you laptop. Also, very user friendly, I had the router set up in 5 minutes. We are very happy with this router!! 😉

Had to get an upgraded router for the old netgear router was malfunctioning. It would disconnect constantly until the ISP said it is the router causing the internet connection failure. So went to Best Buy and was looking for another Netgear router. Chose this one for the capabilities to hook on the wall. Brought home, installed it after reading the (instructions) turned it on and the computers and connection successful. It was pretty much plug and play device. Only changes done – change the default log on and password and secured the wireless WEP. Only negative thing is at night time the room is lit up like a Christmas tree. The lights on this unit are many and bright. So far so good for this new router device from Netgear.

Coming from a Netgear N150 router, this router provides a hefty upgrade on the wireless side of things. I’m now seeing 80+ Mbps (on Xfinity’s 75 Mbps blast package) thanks to the dual band technology. The signal now extends to my garage so I don’t have to worry burning all my cellular data up in the garage thanks to the 3 powered external antennas. Better quality to HD video and both console and computer gaming. Bottom line this product is well made, easy to set up, with no hiccups or maintenance. It just works.

Product works well and as intended. I have this R6400 coupled with a Netgear CM700 modem they work great! Gigabit Ethernet all the way to my modem. Fast Fast Fast! For what ever reason the USB2.0 light doesn’t light up with my printer plugged in however, printing to it works like a charm. It does require you to install some software to use the shared printer and USB 3.0 mass storage. It gets 3 stars instead of 5 because of security flaws and issues found by US-CERT. […] I am unaware of any patches or updates Netgear has issued since that article has been written (11Dec16) but I will revise my review upon receiving a patch that fixes the security vulnerabilities this router has.EDIT: NETGEAR quickly released a revision to their firmware which addresses the security vulnerability. I adjusted my rating from 3 to 5 stars. Well done NETGEAR.

I upgraded from 25 mbps comcast plan to its Blast! that was supposed to give 200 mbps download speed.Speed tests revealed I was still getting 25 mbps though my wireless router (Linksys E1500) supports up to 300 mbps speed.I changed various parameters but nothing worked. I thought it’s time to replace the 5 year old router and got this one. It’s been three days but I have been getting 200 mbps consistently.Have done speed test from various sites including Comcast speed test site. Have attached the test results of AT&T speed test. The router was pretty easy (less than 10 mins) to setup.I will update if I see observe any issues.

So angry I don’t even think they deserve 1 star. It is December 2016 and the router is broken will not turn on. I still have plastic on it and can’t believe I spent $128.00 for a broken piece of s*** router. I want my money back!

It’s sitting on my modem to save space. I saved space by placing it on top of my modem. I’ve owned it for about a week with no issues. High speeds on all 8 devices at the same dam time. It’s a buy for me. Likely cheaper options available but you can’t go wrong with this if you have the same experience as me.

I bought the Netgear AC1750 to replace a brand new Linksys AC1600. I was having issues with the Linksys dropping the wifi connection or only being able to get 10-35 Mps on a 1 Gps connection. The Netgear AC1750 has thus far (2.5 Months) has provided a consistent 500-700 Mps connection. I have a 1 Gps connection and do not need more than 100-200 Mps (Streaming movies mainly) connection speed so I’m not concerned about the missing 300-500 Mps. The only thing that the Linksys had that the Netgear lacks is an online interface. The Netgear interface looks cartoonish and does not have many feature where the Linksys almost had too many features of a non IT Professional to use.

Excellent range, i owned a Belkin before getting this. I will never buy anything else other than netgear. I have a 2 story home and a fishined basement, I loose no reception, I even I have great signal out side.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! A year ago I upgraded to xfinity’s blast 75mbps service and bought the equipment that was “good enough” to support it. That equipment was both Netgear CMD31T modem and N300 wifi router. While they worked okay for a while, I notice watching youtube videos on my phone as well as having google hangouts conference calls started to slow or have trouble lately. I called comcast and got zero help, of course. So I decided to put $199 on my own solution and bought this combo deal with the r6400 ac1750 and the CM700 modem. Guys I just installed this in 10 minutes and I’m using the 5G exclusively…it’s amazing! With the old equipment I was getting 24-48 mbps standing in front of the router. With this new equipment, I’m getting up to 846 mbps in the same location (with the 75 mbps blast package!!)!! The tradeoff with 5G is that the signal is not as strong in reach (bedroom before was 80% and 24 mbps, now it’s 60% but 486!!), but you’ll get such fast data transfer speed that the range isn’t really an issue. Im in a long condo, but if I were in a split level long house or larger I might need an extender. Before this new equipment I couldnt watch 4k videos on youtube (too slow to load), now I’m loading full 4k videos in seconds without any lag in play whatsoever…immediate startup! Also, I’ve plugged in a western digital USB3.0 backup drive directly into the r6400 and now I can access all my backed up files from any device connected to the network (even my cellphone!!)…what!! I am super stocked about this purchase!

I needed a new router and this one was recommended by the salesperson at Office depot. It’s not too expensive and works very well with several people on their electronics.

Easy set up, took maybe 10 minutes to download it’s software and get everything up an running. Took longer to think up a Wifi name that was better than my neighbor’s.I had been using a cheap belkin router previously. After hooking this up, my speedtest results shot up 50mbps – much closer to the speeds I’ve been paying for (100mbps). I blame the remaining gap from the speedtest on my 10 year old lap top.**Have NOT yet tried the other features such as wireless printer, usb sharing. Will update after trying these features, or if I experience any issues.

I’m a rank amateur where it comes to hooking up to the internet. Setup was quick and easy. One wired smart TV, three computers, two tablets and a printer. WiFi Signal is strong among three separate buildings in a U shape. So far, a little more than a week, no disconnects requiring powering the router off and on. Reasonably priced and good looking too!

This is the best I’ve ever had. I have always been a linksys kind of guy until a buddy of mine recommended this one. The speed and coverage of this router has blown my previous ASUS and Linksys routers out of the way to make its own home in the bottom floor of my house. Not only do I get coverage at the opposite side of my 3000 sq ft home but even outside. I’m extremely impressed and will continue to buy Netgear. Keep up the solid work.

First day of purchas so I may come back and edit this review hopefully not though, I had an almond router before this I didn’t have good coverage in my 1600 sqft home, and the network would drop speeds and I would have to reset it often, after buying this my speeds almost doubled, the range of this router is awesome as well, so far I’m very satisfied with this purchase.
Customer for a really long time –
This router has been rock solid for me for two years so far.I’ve owned many routers and the usual problem comes when they start to burn out, dropping wireless connections and so forth. The R6400, which I’ve had for 2 years now, is running as good as the first day I turned it on. We have about 8 devices running through this. Five of those are wireless, 4 of which are 5Ghz and 1 is 2.4 Ghz, and 3 devices are wired, with 2 at 100Mbps and 1 at 1000Mbps.I very rarely ever see errors on downloads or transferring data across the LAN. If fact the error rate is so low that it isn’t even a concern for me at this point. The 100Mbps connections are fast enough for two printers I have wired in. If I send very large print jobs they don’t take very long. The 1000Mbps connection is very fast and I’ll only notice the time it takes if I am pulling and sending very large amounts of data to a network drive (especially if there are many (thousands) of small files inside of folders). The wireless connections are rock solid. We almost never experience dropouts. Maybe one dropout every couple of months and that just requires reconnecting to the network.Where we live (densely populated condos) is saturated with WiFi networks all competing for airspace in both the 2.4 and 5 bands. All channels are saturated. Even so, this router keeps all my devices connected and running very fast, both downstairs and upstairs through the floor and walls. Signal strength inside our condo is always full bars. We can even roam outside around the building and still watch video and use the Internet. We can usually go a couple hundred feet before signal degrades to the point where activity stops. That is very good performance for our area with so much wifi and cellular pollution. The router has gone literally over 1 year without needing rebooting. It just sits there doing it’s job happily without complaint. It does its job so well I rarely ever need to log in to the admin page to change anything. It handles my wireless printers (two wireless printers) so well that my devices never have a problem finding the printers, even when they change IP addresses. It also handles my old Brother wired laser printer excellently. We never see errors about not able to communicate with our printers. Even from our phones, we can print rock solid every time without issue. The only issue my router (R6400) ever has, if when a new firmware comes out. I can’t usually do the update automatically through the admin page. I usually have to manually download the firmware file, unzip it and load it through the admin page as a local file. If I try to auto update, the router gets stuck for some reason, then I have to turn the router off and back on and update manually. Manual firmware updates always go smooth though and it’s not a big deal to do them that way so no stars deducted for that. I’ve never had the router brick itself on an update, even if I had to turn the power off in the middle of an update. Manual updates take my router about 2 to 3 mins to complete and all the settings stay in place and the router comes back online and reestablishes all connections perfectly.I wish Netgear gave the administrator a little more control over internal settings in the Admin section. It would be nice to have more control over the finer points of the router. I still didn’t deduct a star for that though because the router performs so well. This is probably about my 12th router and most of the previous ones burned out over time or died mysterious unexplained deaths.I have a 60mb connection (which varies dramatically depending upon how many people are using their internet near me; anything from 30mbs to over 100mps depending on the Internet God’s mood) from my ISP (Spectrum/Time Warner) connected with my own Motorola modem (because I like to save the money every month and having your own modem usually results in more speed) and this router easily taps out the speed even when everyone in the house is connected doing things on the Internet. The limiting factor in my setup is my ISP connection and not the router or modem. This router can easily go much faster, but I don’t want to pay ridiculous amounts of money for the internet speed boost. I have no reason to upgrade my router unless Spectrum suddenly becomes very generous with their speed/price ratios or unless I was lucky enough to become a product tester for Netgear.I should also mention that all the ports are still functional… no port burn outs, no ports loose, no ports giving errors, no voltage irregularities. All the LEDs are still bright and work as new. The unit has never overheated on me; this is important as I live in the desert and there are days when the temp inside can be over 110f when the air conditioner decides not to work and you are waiting a couple days for repairs.I should mention I have this router, along with other devices plugged into a voltage regulator/conditioner/surge protector/power backup unit to provide continuous uninterrupted and rock steady power flow. I would suggest to people to do that same. In our area, the power can fluctuate a lot and lead to shortened device life/usability. As such, I don’t know how this router would perform over the long haul plugging straight into the regular wall socket.Anyway, thanks Netgear for making a brilliant router that is quality and lasts the test of time.

I just bought this today and quickly started having intermittent problems. I checked everything was set up correctly, then realized how badly kinked the included Ethernet cable was. It was folded much too tightly and was probabu damaged when packaged. I replaced it with one of my properly stored cables and all the problems went away.Netgear needs to teach their workers how to package a cable without damaging it.Otherwise, this router has great throughput and range, especially over 5Ghz. It’s also got a surprising set of features for the price. A decent WiFi disk enclosure costs more than this router. With the ReadySHARE USB feature, I can use any old USB device as a network share. A proper NAS setup could be faster, but this solution works well enough. It’s really quite complete for the price. I’m going to flash it with Tomato or DD-WRT to see if I can get whole house VPN working. The included OpenVPN option is pasable, but not the best solution.

Easy to setup, fast, Handles many devices with no apparent slow down – I have 2 cell phones, 2 ROKU TVs, 1 tablet, 2 laptops, blue-ray player, a video surveillance system, a ROKU stick on another tv, a ROKU premiere +, 55″ smart tv, 2 wireless printers and probably a couple of other devices I can not remember right now. I have had no problems with them. Best router I have ever owned.

Love this modem worked well and is reliable. My only gripe are the lights on the front, they are very bright not sure why. At night they light up the room.

After having tried 2 other routers and living in a rural area, we finally chose Netgear and have had our best experience with WiFi in 25 yrs. it’s amazing to FINALLY have such a great product when we’ve done without for so long. Set up is fast and easy, and you have secure connections for all your devices that connect to it. We no longer have to wait for our emails to send or upload, we can watch movies due to fast streaming video and use Amazon FIRE TV…it’s changed our lives making it easier to do business from home as well. Thanks Netgear!
