Netgear XR500 Speeds
The Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 is capable of speeds up to 2.6 Gbps. This is more than enough to pair well with most Gigabit plans from cable and DSL providers in the US. This device was designed with gamers and streamers in mind, and incorporates features that assist in making those activities exceedingly smooth and fast. Since those applications require very intense specifications, we feel that this model would work well in almost any setting.
Stabilize Your Ping & Destroy Lag
Use the Netgear Nighthawk app to prioritize different devices on your network so that your gaming devices can always ride in the fast lane. Anti-Buffer Bloat (ABB) technology allows you to select which devices should be prioritized on your network so you can spend more time playing and less time worrying about your connection. The app also allows you to limit bandwidth usage for each device individually so that you can prevent random lag spikes.

Only had the night hawk xr 500 for 1 week but its improved the wifi by distance by about 1/3 more then the stock spectrum wifi router that comes with the 400mbs router they give.

I had high expectations, based on reviews, and on manufacturer claims. In reality, I did not experience any decrease in latency, and my connection to EA gaming servers was not stabilized. In a non-gaming application, the router did increase my wireless signal strength. I went from an average 85% signal strength to a solid 100% signal strength on my smart TV, and the RSSI dropped from -65 dBm to a -35dBm, which is excellent. For wireless streaming, the router made a clear improvement, but for wired connection gaming, I saw no improvement. My ISP, Dobson Technologies, does not support this router, and will offer no technical support with issues related to loss of speed, connectivity, or latency.

Possibly the perfect gaming router? The interface is just about perfect. I sit and game in one window with the interface up in the next. I can watch who is in my session, where the host is, who else is there, and can control enough to improve my k/d reliably without crossing the line. One feature I wish it had was the ability to pass the external IP address to an internal secondary router to better support publishing services from my home based business but trust zone modeling isn’t what this one is really geared for. 100% pleased w my purchase and the 500’s performance.

I got this router because of mine sucking. So I decided to go big or go home. I chose right on this one. Not only is my connection faster than ever, it also reaches way farther than I thought it would. I can be pulling into the driveway and connect at the end of it. And I live in the country, so it’s a long driveway. And how easy it is to change the settings; I love it

Up and running for a little over a week. Much improved range and throughput from the old failed DLink the XR500 replaces. Left SSID and Password the same with this router; most wireless items immediately connected but the Google home minis, chromecast (rev2 – the Ultra worked fine), and Hub, as well as my wireless IP cameras had to be manually updated with wifi credentials… I’m assuming something to do with security/encryption type between routers. Not too big of a deal, but something to consider when updating any router if you have a significant number of wireless smart home devices.
The user interface/OS is pretty nice. Has a lot of good info with easy on the eyes visuals.
No issues so far. Will update review if that changes.

Easy to set up and works great. I have a 3500 sq. ft home, I bought the “NETGEAR WiFi Mesh Range Extender EX8000” with this router to cover the dead spots I was previously getting… Didn’t even need it with this router, no dead spots, and great coverage. Needless to say, I will be sending the extender back and keeping this router.
I also game a lot and this router, it has decent software to reduce lag spikes and ping. I am still playing with it but for now it does what it suppose to.

I don’t write many reviews but wanted to for this renewed XR500 Nighthawk. I got rid of at&t uverse internet and wanted better speeds so went with Xfinity but didn’t want to pay their $13+ monthly fees for leasing their equipment. I got a surfboard sb6190 which is 3.0 DOCSIS. After reading multiple reviews and watching several YouTube videos I decided to go with the Nighthawk because it seemed to fit my needs. I was kinda skeptical buying a renewed router but it was in my budget. I’ve had it for 3 months now and and pleasantly surprised with it. I’m paying for 150mpbs service and every once in awhile when I run a speed test via wifi I’m constantly getting close to 200mpbs.
