TP-Link Archer A20 Product Details
Enhance the speed, coverage, and reliability of your home Wi-Fi network by putting the Archer A20 AC4000 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Router from TP-Link at its center. Featuring six powerful antennas and Beamforming for far-reaching range, this router uses NitroQAM technology to boost 802.11ac Wi-Fi speeds across the 2 GHz and dual 5 GHz signal bands to deliver a total throughput of up to 4000 Mb/s. With three wireless bands using MU-MIMO technology to simultaneously communicate with multiple devices and a Smart Connect feature that automatically switches to the most efficient band, you’ll have reliable and fast Wi-Fi for streaming 4K video, playing online games, and more.
Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are available for connecting computers, video game consoles, printers, and other wired devices to the network. With Link Aggregation, you can combine two Ethernet ports with compatible network-attached storage (NAS) devices to double the wired transfer speed. You can also plug external storage drives into the USB 3.0 Type-A and USB 2.0 Type-A ports to quickly share files across the network. In addition to 128-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2, and WPA-PSK/WPA-PSK2 encryptions, your network is secured by TP-Link HomeCare, which includes tools such as an antivirus and customizable parental controls.

It simply doesn’t get any better than this. Setup is a breeze. The Tether App allows any changes made easy as pie. Not having to pay my ISP a monthly rental fee for their router will pay for this router in no time. Coverage is phenomenal, even outside quite a distance away from the router. Love the MIMO feature as well.

First image: speed test using the wifi router Spectrum had given me.Second image: speed test using TP-Link AC4000.I have got 5 wireless online devices at my home-office, while I was paying for the best Spectrum internet connection only using ethernet cable on my computer could get the internet speed I was paying for. That was because of the low quality wifi router provided by Spectrum.TP-Link AC4000 is just amazing. I’ve been using for over a month now, and haven’t noticed any issues with wifi. My Macbook 2018 had issues with the previous router and would drop the connection randomly. But with TP-Link AC4000 the laptop didn’t have a single hiccup. The app that you can install on your phone is also very handy. I just wish I could control more settings in the app, like port forwarding. Overall I’m satisfied with the signal quality and data speed.

…the setup wasn’t easy as advertised. You literally must power off your modem first and then connect your modem and other devices to the TP-LINK. Once the modem is fully powered on, then power on the TP-LINK. At this point you should see green solid lights for internet and wifi. If you don’t do anything else make sure you change the default admin user name and password. I’d also recommend making the network name your own and changing that network password too. Enable any security settings to fit your needs ie DOS, Firewall, VPN Server, etc. If you’re unsure, then I recommend that you don’t bother these settings.I removed a star because my Pixel 3, One Plus 7 Pro, and Pixel 3 a XL couldn’t keep a connection to the network or wouldn’t connect at all. I called phone support and there was a language barrier. The rep refused to let me speak to anyone else. They do offer chat support at tplink.com which is available 24/7/365. I recommend the chat support.I have attached my speeds when connected via Ethernet ( first photo) and connected via WiFi (second photo). The third photo is my speed connected to VPN. As you can see that the speeds vary depending upon your connection. The Internet service providers only guarantee the speed for a wired connection and not WiFi or VPN.So far so good, I will follow up with an update should anything change.

I went through 2 Netgear RAX40 routers (returned both) before I found this one after a ton of research. What a world of difference, the Netgear was cheaply made would not stay on task took forever for it to even pick up the internet and was buggy as hell. This router work right out of the box just follow the instructions. I get fantastic coverage. I enjoy laying out in my hammock outside and I still get 90% of the signal. The 2 5G channels is great for streaming TV, we have DirectvNow the TV is on the 5Gz and no flicker just a strong sig. you can also hard wire it to your router with your LAN plug in … It’s just a much better router compaired to other brands…

A little tricky to get set up. Had a small problem with secure mode. Tech support tried to forward me to an independent contractor who could help me for a fee! Really!!

I was having issues with my Verizon Internet and decided getting a router not from them would help. I no longer have connection issues but the speed I get now is so slow. I pay for 200/200 mbps but I’m only getting about 50 with it hard wired. Also this did not ship in a boxIt’s a good thing I was home when it delivered or someone would have stolen it knowing exactly what I ordered. It does work with Alexa but not all functions it says you can do. I asked what my internet speed was but she couldn’t execute that task. But turning the router lights on/off with Alexa worked. So I’m taking one star off cuz of the shipping with no box and another star for slow speeds. And also it reaches about the same range my fios router does, so that was misleading too. I see no point for 3 antennas if it doesn’t boost range at all.

Works as advertised. And 2 year coverage for warranty put my mind a little at ease. Good coverage on both 5Ghz1, 5Ghz2, and the 2.4Ghz. My internet service provider overboosts most of the time, I pay for 400Mbps down and 20Mbps up and the router always gives me the little more. Pretty happy with it so far. I’ve had it for almost a month now.

This router is amazing for my families home use. The setup is more than simple and in under 5 minutes you have three wireless SID running under one connection with smart connect and also guest networks. Smart connect seamlessly routes connections and transparently balances network loads across the wifi transceivers. Included speed test shows the router is operating at max bandwidth provided by my ISP every time with over 20 wireless home computing devices including streaming tablets, firesticks, chromecast, chromebooks, phones, laptops, xbox, NAS and a home office remote desktop to work that made my last router a Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router – AC1750 inoperable. Maybe that is apples to oranges but not only did the AC4000 resolve all my network issues TP-Link provides Homecare virus protection, parental controls and quality of service by micro-trend included. My last router offered only free trials and if you did not sign up or the trial ended you are inundated with advertisements each time you logged in to the router.I would recommend the TP-Link to cordcutters or anyone with a busy home network who wants to simplify the hassle of of running a home network.

The IP website to configure this router is easy to use and understand. The wifi signal is strong. It has lots of features but I don’t use any of them. I’ve had it for a month now and I havent had any issues.

This product would only provide 30% of available upload speed.I have 11.5mps upload speed and my 5 year old asus has no problembut this ac4000 would give 3.3mps even after contacting tech supportthey said that should be good enough for me. That was a laugh.

This router is excellent. My roommate and I are gamers, and watch a lot of youtube videos and download a lot of stuff on my PC, SIMULTANEOUSLY. The range is excellent, there is a way in the system to bridge both 2.4GHZ and 5.0GHZ when from going inside to outside the house without having to switch. The Security is excellent as well.NOTE: If you get this, DO all the firmware updates first:The price for this was excellent as well and I was comparing it to a (can’t remember) name brand router that had all the same SPECS as well. Glad I got this purchase with the right price. Look up there company and they are fairly newish. TP stands for twisted pair, which helps there wiring structure to be at the best but without taking so much space. In about another 3-4 years, will probably upgrade with an updated version of this on.I have comcast xfinity and I like there modems but HATE there routing system, so i used the router to check from the pic I uploaded.

Best router I’ve ever owned. AC1900, MU-MIMO, 4 Gigabyte LAN ports, 5ghz and 2.4ghz, easy to manage phone app, Alexa and IFTTT support. Seriously couldn’t ask for more. At this price it’s a steal.

The old WRT54GL I had was just a bit slow, even after flashing with tomato.Xmas time is around the corner so what shoudl I do? Time to upgrade!. With a limited budget I ordered this Archer A9.Setup was straight forward and easy. Wifi coverage is a lot better now. (same location as where the old WRT54GL was)So far so good. Nothing bad to report for now.

Set-up instructions were perfect. Set-up was VERY easy. Phone app made device set-up very easy. The one downside I’ve seen is the user interface. Not only is it a bit ugly and fractured, not very many settings can be tweaked. Greatly lacking from the Cisco interface I was used to in my outgoing router.Update: 1/1/2020: Well, add me to the people disappointed and disgusted in this router… I have an Etsy side business (ParkersScratchers), and so I spend a lot of time in my garage. I use a Fire Stick to feed a TV, and this router CONSTANTLY drops-off the signal to the point the feed freezes or just drops. See the picture for just how short of a distance we are talking. The router is in a loft over the garage. My 10yr old, lower-level Cisco Linksys was starting to have power issues, but signal-wise it never dropped off. At this point I guess I’ve learned my $70 lesson and I look for something else. Feeling a bit ripped-off.

Easy to setup, wifi signal is good, you can choose 2.4 Ghz anf 5 Ghz, also you can make you guest work. It says i works with alexia, and i have not tried that yet. Over all is great.

It changes allá the connection in the house (150mts2). Now we have a strong signal everywhere and even in the street. The USB works perfect, also both level of WiFi: private for us and for visitors.

I’ve used my old NetGear for more than 5 years and lately it’s been really slow so I bought this one after a lot of research. Thought i got a good deal in the first few days, but then everything just went wrong. It was so spotty, and automatically disconnect every few seconds. Signal was even worse than my old NetGear. Big disappointment

This dumb thing keeps dropping WiFi signals at will. I have updated the firmware and same dropping issue. Will be sending this back.

Without a doubt the best router i have ever used. The trick-band abilities keep any of the different bands from becoming bogged down with heavy use, and there are even features where the router will automatically switch devices to a better band for optimal connection. My home is 2,000 sq foot split level home, and my connection is great everywhere. I keep the router upstairs in our entertainment center, my office I use for work is downstairs in the opposite corner and i always get atleast 350 mbps download speeds. In fact, I have not had any of my devices anywhere in my house test below 350 mbps (iPad, xbox one, iPhone, or MacBook) and strangely enough, my plan with xfinity only covers 300mbps. I don’t really understand how i get more bandwidth than i pay for but hey, Im certainly not going to complain about that!

Because of the other reviews I’ll be watching it for a while to see how it does. But, so far, so good. After upgrading from the standard Spectrum internet to the Ultra package. I upgraded from an older Netgear router that was having trouble supporting the number of wireless devices we run in the house to this one. My speed increased from around 212mbps to 457mbps and everything seems stable enough.

Order a TP-Link AC1900 Smart WiFi Router and as My Linksys E1200 was starting to die. Great upgrade and it’s cheap. This is also my first 5G router. Wired connection I get 230 mbps. I tested 2G Wifi and get about 35-40 mbps. On 5G though, I get a huge 200-226 mbps. My upload speeds are about 11 (5 on 2G). Great product and standard delivery (7 days) but came 1 day early. I recommend this seller.I’m also a gamer. My PS4 is currently the original model and not the PS4 Pro. So my PS4 cannot use the 5G wifi unless I bridge my laptop wifi to my PS4 using an Ethernet cable. On my PS4, I went from a terrible 2-16 mbps to a normal 35 mbps which is actually good for the original PS4 Models. Now, if I had a PS4 Pro. I would be seeing the 200-226 mbps that my laptop be getting on 5G wifi.My House is big, not sure about the whole square thing but it can reach room upstairs without a problem. I did read reports about wifi strength being shorter for 5G but it’s not for me. I’m far from my router and it’s getting connection fine.I’ll make an update in the next 30/60/90 days if anyone is interested. I do recommend this Router if you want something to start off with and for a cheap price $74.99.In the future, I do plan to get a Gaming Router but i’ll be waiting for the PS5 to be released and will be making a budget to get a Gaming Monitor, Gaming Desktop, Gaming Chair, first before actually getting a Gaming Router. So yeah, this router is also good for anyone looking to save money for upgrades later.
