    CK – December 24, 2018

This is my first TP-Link device. I’m a long time Asus user and am just fed up with their poor firmware as of late and decided to give TP-Link a chance. The good:It’s ax.Setup is easy and GUI is fast and responsive. WiFi is fast and has excellent range. Seems to be a little better than the WiFi on Asus RT-AX88u. Not as many options though. The bad:Power cord is pretty short especially in comparison to Asus power cords. Not a big deal but worth noting. No way to disable qos. I have gig speeds and typically only 1-2 devices online at a time so having the option to turn qos is something that should be put into a future firmware. Also, no way to disable upnp, can be considered a security risk. There is a built in speed test but it doesn’t function properly. Best speed it gives me is 600mbps down. Going to dslreports or Speedtest gives me my gig speeds. At first my phone would not connect to the 5g. I did notice that there was a firmware update for the router. Installed it and phone was able to connect without issue. There is a pretty big design flaw concerning the top row lan ports. On the back of the router, the top sticks out over the top row ports making it nearly impossible to use a finger to disconnect an Ethernet cable. I made the mistake and had to get a flat head screw driver to reach in and unlatch it. Included a few pics if that helps anyone. Unfortunately a firmware update won’t fix that. Not a deal breaker but definitely something that should have been noticed prior to release. Conclusion:Overall a solid router. Has a few firmware fixable issues and a few physical issues that I’m stuck with. Given that this just came out and I don’t feel like a beta tester (hint hint Asus) is a big win. I took a chance with TP-link ax6000 and am not disappointed. So far it’s performing better than my rt-ax88u and blowing away the disaster that is the gt-ac5300.

While the TP-Link AX6000 is by no means a low-cost solution, it’s worth every penny spent on it per my own experience by now. Set up can’t be easier, almost take me less than 5min to connect to the Internet. It does provide a much stronger signal throughout my 2-store house.Pros:1) Elegant design, almost the most beautiful 8 antenna router I have ever seen.2) Easy enough for setup – I had the router setup in < 5 mins, just need to follow the app step by step.3) Performance is awesome out of the box – All my rooms have very decent speed, even in my kid room which previously I have to add a range extender when using Netgear router.4) No wi-fi drops5) Can handle all my Kasa plugs and bulbs without any issue.7) No buffering or stuttering when streaming and gaming, I extremely like the 8 Gigabit LAN ports which are extremely convenient for some people like me who have a bunch of streaming and gaming devices near TV. And also, it has a very valuable 2.5 gigabit WAN port, this is also one of the most important features which attract me to buy it. I have never seen any other router has such a high-speed port.8) No dead spots in my home and it also cover all my garden and backyard pool with at least 3 bars.9) Can create a single SSID which can handle both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz device, I like this feature which I no need to care which band I need to connect to.Cons:1) Maybe a little expensive, but it's worth for the wi-fi 6 router, the new technology 802.11ax.2) You will need AX clients to really take advantage of this product. In my opinion, AX should be the next big thing in Wi-Fi.Overall, I am very happy with the performance of this router. If you have a router that is more than 4 yrs old or has a household with lots of wireless or wired devices like me, this router is a good choice.

I had a $150 Netgear wireless router. I was paying for 250 MB internet speed, but was only getting 75 speed out of my wireless. Someone told me I needed a strong router, so I purchased this one. I rant he speedtest on the old netgear round and got a 72. I removed the netgear and installed the TP Link, reran the test on the same computer and got a 221 speed!!! This is all through wireless, not wired connection.Range is also fantastic.

Although I do not have any wireless clients that support the AX Wifi standard, I still feel worth it updating from my old TP-Link AC1200 wireless router. The design is pretty sleek and I do like the indicator light at the top that tells you whether your Wifi is working normally. The on boarding process is quite straight forward and had no issues setup the router. The only thing I want to remind the other customers is that for some outdated wireless adapters ( I have intel AC3165 on my dell laptop) may have incompatibility issues with the router. You may want to update the firmware/driver of your adapter first, otherwise the SSID will be invisible/unsearchable.Overall I am very happy about the performance , did not feel any latency when I play streaming videos or play video games and I have over 20 devices connected to it including NAS and Arlo camera system. So far it has been working great.

Easy set up. Fast 940 gbps wired speeds with Xfinity. All devices are able to connect such as PS-4, Brother air printer, iPads, iPhones 6&7,,4K fire stick, Samsung smart TV’s. No drop outs at all on 2.4 or 5.0 GHZ. The tether app works great with this AX6000 router. Love the fact that TPLink is sending firmware updates and I’m able to perform updates using the tether App! Wireless router gets reception 7 houses away. At the furthest point of my home about 40 ft. away on the second floor we’re getting full reception and 160 gbps speeds. Router keeps up with 2 tv streams and ps-4 going with other cell phones and a computer all doing their thing. I do not have any AX devices but I’m super happy with the way things are working with this router. I’m not super tech savy but I have wired connections to all my TV’s and PS-4. Love the 8 lan ports this router comes with. I’m using 7 of them! TP link please do not delete these 8 lan ports for future models. This was the reason why i purchased and took a chance on the AX6000. Glad I did.

Honestly dont know what to say its a Great product. When i got it i plugged it in and it just worked. There was a firmware update waiting but it worked regardless. The newer ui is also really smooth compared to my archer D7. Got really good speed and the signal is good i can pick up the router anywhere in my grounds which is over 10000 sq ft.Really happy with this product, was a bit pricey but primeday deal worked out for me.

    SW2 – October 18, 2019

I’ve only had this a week but it has been an absolute monster!!! Was looking for a beast router with more than 4 ports and potentially wifi 6. It was between this and the ac5400x. This was cheaper and had WiFi 6. I’ve had a tplink ac1750 for the last 5 years that has been Rock solid, but decided it was time to upgrade to something newer and better. It’s like night and day. I have a 2 story, 2000sq foot house that I full signal strength in every corner now. The ac1750 still had a signal but it was half of the AX6000 with half the apped as well. Wifi speeds have doubled as well. With the ac1750 wifi would max between 120-170mbps in the same room. With the AX6000, it’s 300+mpbs!!! Using. Samsung note 8. Can only imagine how fast it will be when I get some wifi 6 devices. It also helps boost my wired connection as well. I pay for 600down/25up through Comcast. I usually pull about 600+ down. With the ax6000, it averages well over 700+. Took a pic of hitting 940. It’s even broken a gig!!! Setup was super easy. I already had the to link tether app. You create a password for the router, then name and password your 2.4 and 5ghz networks. The LEDs will flash for a few minutes. When it solid your done. That’s it. Easy least. App give you the basics of operations. The real meat is the web browser part. That’s where you can do a good amount of tuning with the settings. IPV6 is off by default FYI. All in all I am extremely pleased with this router.

I use the AX6000 as a router and have 23 devices attached. Use the HomeCare antivirus and QoS. Also use wireless OFDMA, Smart Connect, and DHCP Server. My wife and I use the wired and wireless network in the Smart Connect Mode; while I have enabled Guest Network, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, for our adult live-in child.I use Security, Access Control, White List to only allow router/network access to my 23 devices. I have 17 devices attached to the Black List that often show up on my network but don’t have access. I always run Security, Access Control in the White List mode.In System Tools I use the Backup feature as well as Reboot Schedule set at 3:00 am. I have attached an Archer C59 to turn on occasionally for Guest use of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz that will not attach to my network. The AX6000 router is a superb TP-Link product and I am very satisfied with this new router, it lives up to expectations. The CPU and Memory Performance are outstanding. And really enjoy the Wi-Fi 6.Thank you.

Bought to replace an aging R7000 Netgear Router ( developed a habit of “DNS server is not responding” error. )TL;DRPros:-price-ports-no reboots required after setting changesCons-no default admin / admin account like old routers-cant turn off QOS ( hasnt effected my network though)-lesser known brandSo this purchase was the culmination on about 40 hours of research. I was a die hard Netgear owner for about 15 years. i decided to try something new for a few reasons.1. new routers are stupidly expensive. most Wifi 6 routers with any reasonable hardware are going to run $270+2. firmware issues are reported for both of the popular Netgear and Asus routers. lots of negative reviews.3. “gamer” price increase just because it is branded as “gamer”4. sometimes trying new things is good.I settled on this TP-Link for a few reasons1. Wifi6 (AX####) if im going to get somthing new, i might as well get the newest technology (even know none of my devices can use it yet)2. it had a usb 3.0 ( most routers do at this point but it was on my list anyways due to network storage)3. less that $2004. gig+ Ethernet ports5. its a name i know of ( top 5 networking companies Netgear, Cisco, Asus, TP-Link, D-Link)Anyways on to the review.Design: pretty slick. thinner / smaller than i expected. antennas swivel with a little effort, but stay put when your finished moving them. attaches to the wall with two screws ( not included ) the holes on the back of the device are roughly 8 1/2 inches apart. has an option to turn the LED’s off at certain timesSetup: initial log in was done with a cable and my laptop, the rest of the setup was completed once i replaced it on the wall where my old router was ( hard wires / cable modem location ) pretty standard set up. my router was defaulted to 192.168.0.1. once i got to the page i was prompted to set up a password. i later changed my network to use 192.168.1.1 ( like my last router) there was some quick set up first run type questions it asked. i later went in a specified permanent ports for my wired desktops which was a breeze. i also updated the firmware which was painless. one major pro with this was you can make changes to the router configuration, and you never need to reboot the router ( firmware being the only rebooting action of all the settings i changed. )Speed: wired connections were reading 500mbps to the xfinity.speedtest.net which is what im paying for speed wise. my google pixel 2 wireless speed test to the google site was reading 320 mbps. i cant complain here, so im pretty happy with that.networked storage: i plugged in our families 256GB photo archive thumbdrive to the router, was getting consistent 30mbps transfer from desktop to thumbdrive. pretty happy with that, as its about as fast as i get when its plugged into my desktop. All and all im pretty happy with it, will keep this review updated as time goes on.

Based on my opinions, tested and preferred features, compared with my 3.5 yrs old TP Link AC2600.Cons: no significant speed boost. no significant coverage boost.Pros: 1 × 2.5Gbps WAN port (I’m upgrading to 2Gbps soon) Build in Speed Test (so I’d know if my ISP throttle my speed during peak hour) Type C port (possible storage expension for my smart home) WiFi 6 for my Note 10+ (seriously >.>)Overall, I think TP Link delivered most bang for bucks WiFi 6 router. You won’t go wrong getting this over competitors.

The features are great . Not a expert in configuration, but the set up is good and easy to navigate. Like the Tether app for the TP-Link router . I was also particular about wifi strength and connections. I have a few roku, iphone and other devices ( about 15 or so connections) . So here is a test . and I was not so happy with the signal strength on the 2nd floor of my house about 20 feet away . Signal strength on the 1st floor of my SFH is good.My Primary internet service via ATT fiber 300 MBPS.My TP-Link is ethernet connected over a CAT 7 cable of 15 feet.Wifi connection strengthen at about 20 feet , with the WiFi 6 AX3000 in the first floor the signal tested from the 2nd floor through three dry-walls ..1. Wifi connection via – TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 Smart WiFi Router- Download speed 16 Mbps ; tested on a IPhone 5 device

I needed an upgrade to handle 30+ wifi devices at my home. This did the trick. No more collisions while streaming from Plex server, and greatly increased network speed. Even on older clients. I upgraded a couple clients to use the Killer AX1650 which connects at 1.2Gbps (see screenshot). Now can copy files to and from home server much better than my older AC router.Currently running in Access Point mode since I have other things to manage the network devices, so I am not using the built in parental controls and other features. I setup through the web interface in just a couple of minutes, and was up and running in less than 5. Easy product setup.I am not using the Smar Connect feature either, I personally like broadcasting the dual SSID to control which devices are on which networks. As far as range the antennas seem to be better than the older routers that i was using with external 5dbi antennas. Both on 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. My daughters school laptop uses the Intel AC7250 with default windows drivers. Cant update, but it does not see the wifi being broadcasted at all. I use the same card in a HP zbook 15 and it has updated drivers. I have no issues with that one. This is only present if you enable the Multi-User MIMO feature. So I will have to get the school to update the drivers. So just a heads up, your clients may need to have updated drivers to connect to access point. Once done you will not have trouble.

After not being able to get but 1/2 of the 2.4Gb speed and searching for hours, I finally came across a post that said to get the full benefit of Wifi 6 your 5gz channel must be on a DFS channel. I switched mine to one and it went from 1.2Gbs to 2.4! Love the product.

I brought this router to test out the WiFi 6 I was very impressed with the speeds I received compared to my Orbi cable modem. The interface was very user-friendly I like that tp-link offer cloud remote service so I could manage from anywhere. One thing I like was Time Machine a major benefit for Mac users. Compared to Netgear 90 day phone support and 1-year hardware the tp comes with Manufacturer’s Warranty – Parts 2 years Manufacturer’s Warranty – Labor 2 years this is a great introduction for anyone who’s trying to upgrade and that break their pocket moving to WiFi 6. Now the higher speed I reach while testing was 619 Mbps and this was on 25mbp plan I have with my isp. I Attach pictures of the results of the tp ax 3000 and the Orbi Mesh and yes my speeds exceeded what I’m paying for with the isp.

After some research I decided the Archer AX6000 by TP Link would be the best router for my homes’ transition to Wifi6. I am very happy that it has exceeded expectations and suits my needs very well. The uploaded image is using the Google Fiber test but I am not on Google Fiber, I am on XFinity gigabit. To have reliable speeds on wifi over 700Mbps throughout the home is a great result in my opinion. (using WiFi6 capable device) One of the Best things about this router is that a tech savvy user can use the web portal and have a pretty solid depth of control over the network settings. A standard user can use the app with virtually no networking experience and still have good control over the router. Set up via the app is the easiest I have probably ever seen so I would recommend the app for initial router setup, and then move to the web portal for your specific tweaking / customization. The QoS seems to work very well. Only thing I wish it had is more controls for the guest network, like setting guest network parental controls without the need for individual device/user filters. A great router for a standard sized family home.

I replaced a nighthawk xr500 with this because I needed something that could handle more wifi devices and I wanted wifi 6. Setup was simple, range is amazing and even over WiFi i get amazing speeds (pictured). Now I’m using the xr500 on a subnet to keep iot devices more secure and also control my lights… A bit much for such an expensive router but I wanted to upgrade anyways.

    Mr. White – June 5, 2020

Let me start by saying I’m a computer technician of 20yrs plus so I’m pretty tech savvy.I upgraded from a linksys wrt 1900 acs I’ve had for years. My home network had been slowing down, the constant buffering when streaming online content, dropped connection every 15mins and my daughter complaing she is getting a 900ping with low download speeds was stressing me out.So I started to research for almost a month reading reviews and looking all over YouTube for honest reviews. I actually settled on this router and saw it was available at my local Walmart but when I went to get it, it wasn’t there so I picked up the only ax router they had which was a netgear rax35.Let me tell you that was the worst router I have ever used. Finally had to order the tplink ax3000 from ebay because it was cheaper there than here.Just hooked up this tplink ax3000 yesterday and it’s like night and day. This router is fast and we are not getting buffering anymore like we used too. My daughter is beyond happy now.The setup was a breeze and let me tell you I love the user interface tplink has. Very well put together and pleasing to the eye.By the way this is hooked to the optimum 200mbps service plan in the north easternmost united states.

Wow I never had Wi-Fi 6 router yet since next generation router was released and now I got one. It runs very fast and great range. I ran internet and local network speed test. I have server with two network adapter redundancy to get maximize speed. I get 1.3 Gbit/s transfering data on local network.Internet: Latency – 9 ms, Down – 480 Mbit/s & Up – 24 Mbit/sLocal Network: Down – 1.3 Gbit/sI highly recommend to buy this router if your company router isn’t good. Also it have built-in cybersecurity to protect entire network against security threats such as IoT Devices, Android, iPhone & iPad.

This router was purchased due to reasonable pricing and positive ratings. The router arrived within the expected time frame and the installation process was not time consuming, nor tedious. The router does not “crowd” the location it is situated in. The four antennas are adjustable and the indicator lights are bright, but not to the extent where they would be disruptive in darkness. Anyway, the wired connections have provided a consistent signal for the several computers plugged into the LAN ports. The WLAN range and speed seems sufficient for multiple devices in my household on different floors. My only complaint is that the router runs rather warm so I am concerned about overheating. In conclusion, I would recommend this product.

I have a gigabit fiber connection to my home that I have tested at 950Mbps+.When connected directly to the router via ethernet, I was getting 773 Mbps. That’s an 18% loss, but I’m not too upset. When connected to the 5GHz wireless positioned 12 inches away from the router, downloads dropped to 177 Mbps, which is an additional 77% loss. When I went upstairs, download speeds drop to 25 Mbps, which is an additional 86% loss. All said, I get to enjoy 25 out of 950 Mbps (2.6%) of the speed that is delivered to my house with this router. My previous (cheaper) router would give me 300Mbps upstairs. So I have no idea what’s going on.Yes, I followed all of the instructions.

[This review has been updated]I purchased the AX6000 router to go with my COMCAST Business Internet 1Gb service. The installation was straight-forward enough. The Wifi seems to work as well as the aging router it replaced, so no loss there. The best thing about the Wifi (for me) is that it seamlessly worked with all my old devices without drops, etc. that a lot of newer WiFi routers experience. The router had not been able to reach any download speed greater than 500Mb, leading me to think that my company was wasting money paying for bandwidth that we could not use due to the router.[UPDATE} However, I eventually turned off some of the QoS configuration features that came turned on by default and my speeds picked up (see screenshot). Upgrading to 4 stars. The router looks kind of neat though, WiFi is pretty good, and I have not found that it runs hot as other reviewers have commented.A minor negative that comes to mind is that the ports placement is very tight in relation to the case, making it pretty difficult to use a finger to push the release tab on the plugs, especially if they have boots.I do like that it can be hung on a wall but, at this price, they should have included at least a couple of screws – mine came without any hardware.
