While this is a cable modem, wired router, and wireless router, I’ve been using it solely for a cable modem. I have an existing router/switch setup that I didn’t want to change.Performance: I have Comcast internet and the setup was easy. Plug it in and try to go to a website and you are directed to register the device to your comcast account. Our internet package is 75/10 mbps, so I can’t attest to the rated 300+ mbps speed it’s capable of. But I do seem to get better performance when we have multiple devices streaming. Seems to be less buffering/latency.Good For: Someone who is looking to replace their provider’s rented modem and doesn’t use the VOIP hardware in the provider’s router.

This is wonderful. I am so happy that my wifi works as well as it should again.I can also say that this works as well as the Xfinity modem, the latest edition. Do yourself a favor, save the $132 a year and just spend it if you can.The setup was extremely simple.

I just installed my TP-Link Archer CR500. I love the Prime shipping. This review is only for 1 day but let me give you some insights (pics included). It’s a very Nice-looking router. It has 4 Cat 5/6-line ports to hook up your stuff to and two USB ports.Very simple to hook up and install, I mean very simple. Just follow big folded out easy instructions.Step 1. It took 1 minute to hook my COMCAST/EXFINITY cable line, electrical power plug and two cat 5 lines.Step 2. I power the CR500 on and waiting for it to load and that was fast. All lights on (you should have two green lights to) Step 3. Went to my computer open my web browser and bam I had internet. The first web page that came up was the Comcast/Exfinity self-activation page, follow the simple instruction and comcast does the rest (super easy and super-fast). It said you might have to wait 30mins for internet usage, but it took about 5 mins and it was done. I guess comcast software was loading its interface.Step 4. I went to TP link website (http://tplinkmodem.ent (it’s in the instructions) and personalized my router. The username & password are generic they give you to log in with. For security purposes change the usernames and passwords to mine once I logged in. To do this log in and click the “Wireless” link on the left side, it will take you to that page. I did both SSID Usernames/passwords for 2.4G and 5G, make sure you hit save before exiting. I also change my password for my admin. Its located by clicking the Advance tap section at the top of the page and then system tools link on the lower left and then click Administrator (You can only change the password for admin). If you lose your password or forget your username you can HARD reset your router by pushing the reset button for 8 to 10 seconds. All passwords & usernames will go back to the generic passwords for everything, it’s the small hole in the back)After all that I connected all my 11 devices one by one by finding the username I changed it to. Each of your devices will ask for your new password and once you enter it you should have connection for that device. This was so dang easy a cave man or cave woman can do it. This modem is fast and my WIFI signal is very strong. Just to let you know the CR500 once running is warm to the touch but this to me its normal. Just keep it in the open not in a close cabinet, you want it to circulate air to keep it cooler. Now my wife is happy and my son who plays XBOX and online games with his computer is happy. Super-fast game playing. By the way I play PUG G on XBOX and it plays better. So, it works.I only had one issue with my WPS button not working. (WPS stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. It was designed to allow devices to quickly access a wireless network without having to know the network name or encryption key)I pushed the WPS button and the WPS light would not work. I needed to hookup my RockSpace 1200 wireless range extender. I went online chat with technical support (which was the best I ever had) and the help me trouble shoot the WPS. We had to hard reset the router and after that the WPS button & light started working. Now the RockSpace extender works. That was simple also, just push the RockSpace WPS button it has and the CR500 WPS button (located in back top of 1st pic) and they connect automatically. Now my outside security cameras that are too far away from my CR500 can pick up wireless signal.TP link has superior technical support.Day 2 still working…Best part of it all is no more rental fees to Comcast for their router.LB
