Bought this as a replacement to a Linksys modem that kept dropping signals. This modem works great and I haven’t had any drops since setting it up. Love this modem!
Tech Lover –
Really good modem. Easy to setup and saved the monthly fee. I highly recommend this modem
modean987 –
Great little cable modem. Good transfer rate and connectivity. Like its small footprint.

This is the first modem I turned to after I decided to upgrade from my dinosaur dial-up modem. It’s been 2 years now and it’s still going strong (knock on wood). I leave it on almost constantly and it doesn’t get too hot, but I wouldn’t place it in a confined space. If you’re like me, you probably never heard of this brand but I must say I never encountered any problems with this modem. I trust it now so much I bought the exact same one for another person who I set up their computer. This is a great way to get the internet but if you have plans to use your wireless features of a smart phone or laptop you will need a router. This Zoom model will not send out a wireless signal. I knew that when I bought it, just throwing that out there. I give it 5 stars for reliability and durability thus far.**February 7, 2018 – – I still have this same modem going strong now almost two years running non stop. Last year I upgraded my internet speed to 200 Mbps and I am averaging 225 from speed tests. I’m still impressed with the Zoom modem and would definitely buy the latest version of this one just because they updated it with a digital tuner card (not sure what that does) but sounds good to me!

Works great with twc
R.K. –
Excellent value, excellent performance. There isn’t a ton of variance in modem performance among the top brands–Zoom, Motorola, NetGear–in my experience. This Zoom gives you the most bang for your buck–DOCSIS 3.0, more maximum MBPS download speeds then your ISP plan will allow you to even use.

I have this modem with Cox cable. It does the job. I have no complain. At first, I thought it went bad when my internet went down after a few days of installation. It turned out to be the signal amplifier box that Cox technician installed because they say the signal strength coming into my apartment is weak.
Larry Shultz –
Works great!
Stuart WL –
I recently switched from FIOS (getting expensive) to a 2-year trial of Comcast Xfinity. Rather than rent their router (which also acts as a local hotspot for others), I decided to purchase my own…this one. The technician had no trouble hooking it up and I was online in minutes. It has performed flawlessly for the last months and speeds are exactly as advertised.
Greg Downing –
replaced my 2.0 docsis with this unit. Since I have standard internet noticed no improvement, but nice to have a new modem if upgrades are in my future.
Hidden Name –
It was super easy to contact cox and have them register the modem. Now saving $6.99 a month not paying to rent theirs.Only took 4 minutes for the guy to finish registering the modem and 5 minutes after call ended the internet was up and working better than before.
Victoria –
Great replacement for the original cable modem. No problem installing.
S. Fong –
This worked great for a few years and an major improvement over the default Comcast rental box. But it didn’t survived the multiple power outages, blips and low voltage events I had tonight. This is the only thing that fail. No lights, no power. I’m a little surprise because it’s on a surge protector with an working Ooma, 2 printers, and scanner. It’s always recovered without problems before. Now no internet til my new zoom comes in 2 days.
Customer –
Thanks for the fast router Zoom!
Mark –
Unplugged old modem, plugged this one in, rebooted all devices on my local network and all was working fine with noticeably increased band-width.
vchan –
Great modem. Good speed, great price. We’ve been using it for a couple of months now with no issues.
Etienne B. Etchouekang –
Great product
Customer –
Setup was quick and easy. Linked up with Comcast’s servers no problem. Goodbye, $10/month charge.
Ryan –
Great little cable modem that works with Time Warner Cable and replaces the $15/month leased modem I was originally using. This combined with an inexpensive router (TP-Link ac1200) gives me the same internet speeds I got with the leased equipment only much cheaper! Install was a breeze and took a quick phone call to set up through my internet service provider. I cannot speak to the longevity just yet, but so far this is exactly what I was looking for.
jk –
Simple modem that works great for Time Warner. Other Motorola modems before kept dropping the signal (T3 issue I believe?), but this has worked great since install. Fair price too for owning a modem. The savings in modem rental fees will pay for it in less than seven months. Eat it, big time cable company! Was so pleased, I got one for several other family members. If I had a third thumb, I’d put that up with the other two!
R. Alex –
Working fine until yesterday night. Stopped working a year into service. Now waiting for replacement under warranty.
Bonnielou –
I have time warner cable and bought this because I’m tired of them charging me for their’s and it works GREAT! I just plugged it in and followed the steps. Easy breezy. Just wish I could get good internet service somewhere else…..
Autumn –
So far so good. It does get hot, but seems to do better when stood up vertically with the stand that it comes with it. Glad to be free of those preposterous monthly equipment fees from my internet provider. $120 a year for one of their dirt-cheap no-brand modems that probably consists of about fifty cents worth of electronic components? You’ve got to be kidding me. Get your own modem.
KK –
This is one of the cheapest 8 down 4 up cable modems out there. The power adapter emits a high-pitched whine that can’t be heard above a typical computer fan from 3-5 feet away but might be a problem in a quiet bedroom. Included ethernet cable seems flimsy, but that’s probably not your biggest concern if you’re looking at this price point!
Customer –
Works really good for my Wowway service.I will have to see if it may fail in the future, but it works good now.As long as it stays alive for more than a year, I would be a happy customer.
Customer –
works as well or better than the modem provided by T.W. C. I use the modem along with a TP-LINK TL-WDR3500. I regularly get about 35/36 Mbps, on a 30 MBPS plan.TP-LINK TL-WDR3500 Wireless N600 Dual Band Router, 2.4GHz 300Mbps+5Ghz 300Mbps, USB port, IP QoS, Wireless On/Off Switch hope this helps.
Gary A. Coffman –
Nice and fast.

For those people who keep asking Comcast questions. I use Comcast and you can fine up-date info on these sites or you can gookle / Bing.com How to upgrade your modem-Comcast. You will fne “List of approved modem and when you see the list you can click on each of them for more onfo to that modem. You can chose four box’s to check. I would check the ‘End of life’ list for sure[…][…] I gave it four stars. It works as well as the one I have been renting but then it is very much the same as the old one they gave me last year.I would not use the on-line Activation if I was you. I would call them. I had problems when I did. Lots of problems. The zoom did activate but my great Anti was all over Comcast as a non security certificate site but I know that is common with Comcast. They asked if I wanted to download Comcast_Desktop_Software_1401.exe and when I put it in save my Anti blocked it and auto removed it then listed it as : Virus win32.troj.fixix.a.(kcloud) Now my great Anti all-so list many micro-softs up dates as trouble. (MS) may protect us, but who protects us from them? The main problem I had with the on-line activating was all tho it did activate… My browser IE keeps going to Comcast activation page when I open it. Now Bill and I don’t all-ways see eye to eye and I was very lucky to have a 2nd back up browser and that one worked fine for me. With that I got a 2nd usable browser. I all-ways keep two. The lights on the Zoom is a little brighter but I’ve had worst bed room clocks for being too bright. One Comcast review on there list of recommendations for modems and there links to Amazon said he bought one of there recommended ones 16X4 and because he lived in a place that connection was slow he needed to go to a 8X4. My down and up speeds are the same as my old modem on my 30Mbps plan but I may switch to a slower plan and I wont need a 16X4. The Zoom came with lots of quick start and info. The Zoom has a lot of air vents. I like to give it five stars but it would have needed to protect me from the Comcast on-line activation. I wish now I called Comcast. Comcast trys but no-body can get it all right. I couldn’t say they plan it that way but they should fix it or I will think they did.
Gunnut –
works ok Comcast recommends but it don,t have telephony
Kevin –
Works great and super fast.

This was one of the best purchases I have every made. It works great with TWC 50 Mg internet.
August Thornton –
Awesome product, no issues yet!
Dan Barton –
I spent a lot of time reading reviews and worrying before buying this item; Zoom still seems to be relatively unknown brand-wise and it was so much cheaper than other models, I was a little bit wary at first.Setup was insanely simple. The box contains the modem, power supply, and an Ethernet cable. Plugged it in, powered it on, and connected the cable from my ISP (Comcast). It took about two minutes or so for it to power up and configure completely, the LEDs on the front indicating connection. After connecting to my laptop with the Ethernet cable, all I had to do was open a browser… I was automatically directed to Comcast’s website, I entered my account number/phone number…. And that was it. Took about two minutes for it to configure.Speedwise, I went from between 45-60mbps down to well over 80 with this modem.Pros: Simple setup, small footprint (it’s about half the size of my Comcast modem). Speed increase by about 30%. Connected easily to router (entire process of setting up the modem and connecting it to my router was maybe 15 minutes). Haven’t had any issues with heat, as others have posted.Cons: None, for me. The LEDs on the front are bright as hell, but it’s in my living room, so it doesn’t bother me. I could see them being annoying if it was in a bedroom though.I’ve only had the modem a short time, but as for now, I couldn’t be happier with it. Highly recommend it.
Midas –
I decided to purchase this modem to stop renting one from Comcast and stop that nuisance addition to my bill. This modem has already paid itself I think. The design is modern and sleek. I like that it has a power buttom in the back. Some modems usually don’t and that’s a head scratcher – no problem with this one. It’s rather small from what I’m used to with cable modems but the pictures here can attest to that. The modem works like a charm for average internet usage inside a home. I have had it for a year or so with no signal loss, or problems with connection speeds. Comcast does accept this modem.Cons: Price and performance.Pros: None.
Anthony Yang –
This is a great modem for the money. It works just as well as the high speed ARRIS modem that Optimum provides and it will pay it self off after 10 months! I have had zero issues with it and it plays nice with all of the optimum web tools for the modem and the connected router. It’s much cheaper than the ARRIS modems and works just as well. It is also significantly smaller than the provided ARRIS modem that optimum uses.Set up was easy. I just called customer service, and connected the new modem and gave them the MAC address of the new modem. It was registered in minutes and I was back up and running with no difference in connection speed. Overall, a great buy and a reliable modem at any price.
Adrian –
Such an easy install! Saves me $8 a month on my internet bill, and it literally took 15 minutes to hook it up, and call my provider to have them connect to it! Great price on this modem!
Deborah D. –
Works well so far, faster speeds then Time Warner’s rented modem.
Captain Awesome –
I bought this so I could get rid of my Time Warner Cable rental. It took maybe an hour for me to get it going, but that was mostly TWC’s fault and had nothing to do with the actual product. The modem itself is compact and performs exceptionally well. When I called Zoom when I had issues with the setup, the customer service rep was very friendly and helpful. Within less than a minute he was able to provide me with a direct number to TWC to get the modem properly activated. The price is also really good. If you’re replacing your modem, then this is the one to get.
Jason White –
Worked flawless and had no issues connecting it to Comcast for Internet.
tileyr –
Best priced ISP-required device.
ReconMarine1969 –
Good value. Fast Speed. No complaints. And I don’t pay Time Warner Cable anymore to lease one.
Danielle Jonalyn –
Super easy to set up. Instructions are sufficient. Called COX, told them I had a new Modem, they asked me simple questions about the unit, and then set it up on their end. It’s been working like a charm. No more Buffering on Apple TV!
G. William –
This modem was easy to install and has worked well since hooking it up. I deducted a star because I don’t quite get the 300mbps down that I should be getting from Time Warner Cable. This might be due in whole to TWC being horrible, and if this is true I apologize Zoom in advance. You might deserve it, but TWC stole away that last star with no remorse.
Gale A McMahon –
great buy
Elbie –
We bought this to get rid of renting from the cable company. Wow! This modem is great. It was very easy to set up. I didn’t have to call Comcast to get it connected with our account. I just had to enter some info on the website that came up when I installed it. The connection speeds we’ve gotten since switching are significantly higher than we got with the modem the cable company supplied. Shhhh…Several times, speed tests have shown speeds faster than what Comcast says we’re supposed to get. Considering that the speed tests consistently showed about 10 Mbps slower than the maximum speed advertised for our area with the cable company’s modem, I’m very happy.
DM B –
343 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 Works Great, but note the following:* Not a telephony modem – you’ll need to set up your own landline with a device like an Obihai. I did it but the OBI setup wasn’t near as easy as they say, at least for me it wasn’t. I bought it to get rid of Comcast’s failing modem, its $10/month modem service charge and also go down to a “double play” so the savings does become significant. If I was brave I’d just dump the landline and go with the cell phone. With me this old habit dies hard… If you do this call your cable tech dept to add the modem, also your router to your system setup, otherwise you’ll likely have streaming “loading” problems. I also replaced an ancient router with a Trendnet 818DRU AC1900.Dual Band. It’s quick, long range so even if your place is a palace it has the range (our bedrooms get full signal over 100′ away) Its also been very dependable. Another BIG reason I did all this was that Comcast uses that nice Wireless Gateway they rent to you to also use your system to provide wireless internet hot spots to anyone and everyone within range. So call me a grinch if you want but Comcast does this in a clandestine manner and doesn’t offer us suckers a kickback for using our systems, or any guarantee against any malicious penetrations of our computers that might result.
Diesel Jones –
Connected to Wave broadband just fine and works great at a great price. Time will tell on longevity, but right now I could not ask for more. Love the small form factor, doesn’t take up much room.
lovinlife –
Easy setup, no problems. Great product!
B.RAM –
Used this with xfinity for about a year or so. I use it for gaming, web browsing, movies and more. This is a solid product.
Gerald Schuster –
This thing is awesome.
SassyMom80 –
saving myself at least $8 a month by having my own modem. worth the cost!! have had NO issues with it what so ever
Joe Critic –
Easy to install and works great. The price is a major plus, much cheaper than paying monthly modem rental.
Minnesota Lurch –
Nice modem! Recently switched from DSL to Cable ISP. This was the lowest priced modem on their list of compatible modems for their service. So far so good. Seems to run a bit hot. So I took an old CPU fan and hooked it up to a 9 volt power adapter (it was too noisy when running on 15 volts). Seems to be OK now. I’d probably buy this one again in the future should the need arise.
J –
Replaced a Motorola modem that was supposedly incompatible with my AirPort Express and immediately got 4x faster download speeds and so far none of the outages I was experiencing frequently with the Motorola product. Highly recommend this over Motorola modems if you plan to use an Apple router.
Robbie H. –
I just nade a decision to drop Uverse tv/inet and give Xfinity Comcast Inet another shot. On 2 previous occassions with Comcast suffered from horrible Internet experience but great TV service. I had tech after tech come out and check lines and modem only to tell me signal strength is fine. They would swap modems as token of good will but nothing changed. Sometimes I would get 30mbs as my plan allowed and sometimes I would get .05 to 1.5 mbs. As a tech junkie I could not deal with this result. So I switched to Uverse until now. I had this modem installed with ease and I have an “up to 75 mbs plan and now hard wired I am seeing a 90+ mbs download speed and 20+ mbs up speed. This modem rocks and is much cheaper than arris surfboard modem. I would highly recommend! I also noticed when Comcast installed service this time… they have installed a powered signal booster in the garage where the cable line comes into my townhouse. This is something that they have installed previously no doubt and lost a customer earlier due to poor performance. I am currently using my old Belkin N600 HD Router Streaming television to 4 TV’s with either a smart TV, 2 Roku sticks newer one, and 1 xbox 1 entertainment system. We also have 5 smart phones 1 Ipod mini 2 laptops and 1 surface pro and 3 game consoles. I have no issues on any device getting enough bandwidth to perform without lag or buffering with HD stream. I am only get 9 mbs wirelessly on average throughout a 2000 sf townhome to each device at any given time except in one bedroom only getting 2 bars of wifi signal 2.4 ghz.I just order tp link AC 2600 mu mimo router in hopes of better wifi speeds and signal strength through out house. Will review this router when it arrives today. In conclusion this modem is worth every penny and would recommend it over any other. I was skeptical since I never heard of zoom before, but I am a big fan now.
A.J.S III –
Works well with my cable provider
Mike Jensen –
It worked ok, though it was difficult for Cox to get it setup. I don’t blame the modem, but Cox for that. It took them a few hours to finally get their side figured out.Once up, though? I’m still not getting much improvement over my old surfboard. Hence the 4 stars. That could be COX as well, I understand, but I’d hoped that being able to bind to more channels, etc. would improve things. It hasn’t done much good. I shouldn’t have bothered. I won’t knock the modem for that necessarily though.
Russell –
I’m using this product (zoom cable modem) for the ultimate package through Time Warner. I feel as if it is working satisfactory. The reason I state this is because I have five Androids, two Chromebooks, two tablets, two ps3s and one ps4 connected to it, hence the five stars out of five. Thank you Zoom!
Roger –
Working great with Cox Communications internet service. Effortless set-up and straightforward instructions in case you run into any issues.
Catbui99 –
I am giving it a neutral rating because I am not sure if Comcast didn’t like the modem or the modem itself. Anyway, I replaced my Motorola modem/router combo with this and a separate router because the built-in router of the Motorola is kinda crappy. However, after exchanging the modem my speed went down from around 80Mbps to 25Mbps. Speed didn’t change even after several reboots and with/without the router. Ended up just using my modem/router in bridge mode and returning this modem.
broomsticks –
Currently using this Zoom 5341J Cable Modem as a replacement for a Time Warner rental modem. It came nicely boxed with a RJ-45 Ethernet cable and power cord. Connection was easy and used my previous Ethernet cable. It took some time for the ISP (Time Warner) support to properly register and connect with the modem, but I could tell that the modem was working properly as soon as it was connected and turned on. It has worked flawlessly as far as I can tell. The On/Off button is a nice addition that was not on the rental modem.Very happy with this modem so far. Cut at least $10 a month of my cable bill.
Nicholaus R Anderson –
An excellent modem at an excellent price.
Customer –
This modem is performing far better than the TWC provided modem. Also, it’s nice knowing I’m saving money and getting the speeds I deserve, by purchasing this zoom modem.
Upinderjit Sidhu –
WORK WELL, NO ISSUES
BandThutto –
Easy setup! Great price! Works better and speeds are much faster than modems you rent from TWC.
OneQuartLow –
Using with Comcast. Zero complaints. Modem sits there and quietly does its thing. Getting the proper speeds and I never have to power cycle it.
Customer –
Despite the word “cable” being in 100 different places on the page, nobody seems surprised that it does not come with a coaxial cable. That means that I can’t get connected to the internet. Who cares that it comes with an ethernet cable to connect to the router? I can’t connect the coaxial cable to my internet provider so I have to wait another two days in a brand new apartment. Please please be more clear about what comes in the box to avoid more disappointed customers.
Megan K. Usko –
Works incredibly well with multiple devices streaming. Have seen no hint of lagging or interruption.
Customer –
Exactly just what I expected. Works great and is saving me money on my cable bill
Paul D. Holder –
I had it for a few years. It worked flawlessly until TWC upgraded the default speeds my area. Then it would fail to lock on the signal. I would get great speeds one minute then nothing the next. Internet service became unreliable at best. It seemed to go out with I really needed it. Had TWC out to the house about once every two weeks until a tech told me I needed to upgrade my modem. He recommended and I ended up getting a comparable Arris and it seems to be working fine now. Time will tell.
peter –
IT works very well. I’m saving a $10 every month from Comcast.
MR. JOE –
works great easy to installhas tel. number.(800 number) for time warner tech. support, (my cable company),working in 5 min.
Blackhive –
This thing is awesome. I’ve had mine for over a year now. My old Motorola SB6121 would drop connection with comcast non stop. This thing put a stop to it for the most part with the exception of the occasional hiccup from comcast. It has performed excellent over the past year. I liked it so much I recommended it to my sister who has time warner, and it worked great for her as well.
TONGZHU LIU –
it works as advertised.
Kathy001 –
I had been having a lot of problems with my internet being slower than normal and with it cutting in and out. When I called the provider they told me my modem was and old model and needed to be changed out. They gave me a list of all the compatible modems with our internet service. This was the cheapest on our list. It came and was very easy to install. I had to plug it in to the cable jack and the router and then I had to call our internet service provider so they could approve it. That part was pretty quick and easy. There are 5 lights on the front of the modem. These are LED lights and some are blue and some are green when the internet is connected and working properly. This modem is thinner than our old one was and takes up less space. I have not had any problems with it getting warm even with constant use.Our internet works much better now. The speed is better and the in and out signal has quit for the most part. We have had a couple of issues in the few months we have had this modem, but they were problems on the provider’s end. I am pleased with this modem. It works great and was a great price compared to the other options Comcast gave me as compatible modems with our internet speed.I bought this product full price for my own use.
Jandtheath –
Fantastic product. Have had no problems since install. We have been using this modem in conjuction with the TP-Link Wireless N300 Home router and it has worked flawlessly. Often run 2 laptops and and a Kindle fire with no problems in connectivity. Glad to get rid of the box that was provided by previous internet company.
ScreenSavers –
I bought this modem in October of 2014 because a relative has the same one. I haven’t had a single issue with it, and it’s extremely reliable. Would definitely recommend.
I H LIN –
So far so good!
Carlene Wright –
My nephew recommended this and it’s great. Easy set up!

Great product
Jimbo099 –
A good buy and works well with Time Warner Cable, seeing speeds around 60 Mbps on their 50 Mbps service.
Bonnie Thorne –
Got it quickly and it works great.
Pak –
Purchased this to replace leased TWC modem. It is also compatible with Charter, which I need since I’m moving. Easy setup and absolutely no performance problems.I have recommended this modem to others.
D Mac –
Product works as it should. I bought it and left it by the tv for the time warner guy to plug in and everything is good to go! Paired it with a new wireless router and as of right now, no issues!
Wes Oliver –
Easy to hook up and has been running great so far. No issues.
Customer –
Easy, easy, easy to setup! I was up and running within 10 minutes. The longest part was calling the cable company. Small in size (which is what I wanted) and my internet seems to be faster! I would definitely purchase this item again and recommend it for others!
Rocriz58 –
Still working fine. Thanks
Fahryn –
it is what it is, cheap modem, that gets you the speeds you need.
Valerie S. –
When I first called TWC customer service to register it, we couldn’t get it to “go online” and she told me it must be defective and i should send it back. Instead, I made an appointment to have a TWC service tech come to my house. He quickly tested it and said the modem was fine. It took a bit of work to set it up only because of all the complicated wiring that is connected to my cable. Good thing I didn’t believe customer service! I’m using my old Apple Airport Express as the router and Magic Jack phone… everything is working great.
J. Woodington –
My old modem only would top out at about 3MB/sec download speed on most big files no matter where I got them from. Using the same sites, I’ve been getting well over 6MB/sec on almost every download since I got this modem. Love it!
The Straight Scoop! –
Runs a bit hot, but this is a great modem. Knock on wood… it has already lasted twice as long as the comparably priced DOCSIS 3.0 Motorola Surfboard I owned prior to this Zoom model 5341J.
George –
It works well a little too expensive.
Daniel Green –
Bought for Comcast Internet. No problems so far.
Jaychemist –
Works well.
Anonymous –
Works fine. Its been 1 month that we have been using this cable modem with Comcast, no issues so far!
Rob Barbour –
Good product and phone support.
Michael J. Miller –
just like the name says zoom zoom fast
ZubSed –
Does what it needs to. No complaints! Cox compliant.
CC –
Works perfectly.
WebTrekkie –
Zoom has been around for an eternity and although people swear by Motorola modems. This item is truly worth every penny both in performance and quality. It is small and takes up very little room. Extremely convenient to tuck in a corner and not be sightly ( mines hides behind an 8 X 11 picture frame).
pekaye –
Still working great with my Apple Wi-Fi after several years. Highly recommend.
Culture Crash –
Brilliant
Brian C Langley Jr –
This modem has been working great so far.
James J Korp –
Works perfectly and saves me $ 10.00 every month.
BuyerX –
Works great. No problems with it, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is it tends to overheat easily. Just don’t leave this one on carpet
OneLikeaSonofMan –
Love this thing…
Tom Flicker –
Good price and removed the terrible lag I had with my old modem. I believe that was an error in TW’s config that they pushed out to it, but regardless this modem works just fine.
B. Surkan –
My experience with this modem (I bought two) has been mixed thus far, as it keeps dropping my connection, though it usually reconnects on its own.I finally contacted tech support online, a truly painless process, and within 24 hours, they had diagnosed my problem via e-mail in as painless a manner as I could have imagined. It turns out that I need a replacement, and they explained how to proceed with an RMA, allowing me to receive the replacement before shipping back my defective one. As I just passed my 1 year anniversary of purchase, there is a $15 fee, but that is my fault for waiting so long, not theirs. To my PROFOUND amazement, when I called the Boston support number, I was immediately connected with THE SAME FELLOW who had been helping me via e-mail. He knew my case and asked me to provide my credit card in order to place a hold while they shipped my new unit and awaited my return. He was also clearly a native English-speaking American.Things break, but this is how customer service was meant to be when something goes wrong. I’ll update my review once my exchange has happened, but I fully expect this to continue in the same stellar fashion that I have experienced so far. Bravo, Zoom, bravo!
jeems –
Rock solid modem. SO much better than the garbage the cable company over charges you for. It is consistently faster with multiple users online than the previous ISP modem was.
Staphaine A. Staley –
Works great had for 6 months now speed is great. Gets a little hot keep in air flow. Have on my WOW isp.
GrrFakeMonster –
Purchased in 2012 for use with RCN Chicago and it worked great. DOCSIS 3 support provided a measure of “future proof-ness” at the time. Set up was easy, and I saved money on my monthly bill. When I moved two years later, no equipment to return! I just unplugged it and took it with me. No issues with my wireless router either.

Excellent product and service.
DGray –
Plugged it in, called 1-800 Comcast, gave them the serial number on the bottom, done. It has remained reliable with very few (if any) issues.
C.D. –
Works great and has paid for itself by saving me the $8.95 monthly rental charge from my cable provider.
Jerry Miller –
Thanks !
Koffi Okouta –
I would like to have router with WIFI, unfortunately Zoom Cable Modem hasn’t.
Michael Z. Jones –
Cheaper by far than renting a modem from comcast. I’m quite happy with the automatic IPv6 support, and the speeds.Wish it had a better web interface. There are essentially no options to choose from at all.It drops signal from time to time and needs to be rebooted, but I wager that that’s all on Comcast’s end.
AngelaMN –
I was a little hesitant but when I got it, it was pretty easy to set up and get going. I actually had more problems with my old wireless router than anything…getting it to work with this new modem which had nothing to do with the modem. It has now been working great for over a month and I no longer have to pay Time Warner Cable….very happy about that!!
DeKovin H. –
So for so good. Saving a little on TWC bill, should have bought my own years ago.
Customer –
Great Modem Use it on WOW.
Rubyl969 –
Have had it running for 3 months straight and have had no connection issues
mooshoo27 –
Very nice modem. Word of caution though: this modem is not compatible with Comcast Business internet services. For that, you need to purchase either the model 5345 or 5370.
SmileLaverne –
Working well. No issues.
john –
just what the DR ordered
Ervin M. Zaikis –
Works as promised, saving $ 10 /month rental fees.
B. Holmes –
Works perfectly with COX cable!
Doodle Artist –
Still working quite well after what, a year? Bought to save money on cable, then they jacked up the monthly rate to more than compensate, but what are you going to do?
Saurabh Narkhede –
I am using more than 6 months now. It is working properly. I saved money instead paying to Comcast for modem fee.
Adam –
I have Comcast xfinity and it works like a charm.
E Britt –
Works great, runs fast without any problems.
Walker Wilkinson –
It has worked flawlessly for a few months now
Jeff O. –
Still going strong. My router sucks, but this modem is rock solid. I’ve never had to reboot it, only my router.
PPKR –
Very good modem, works better than the one given by Cable.
honest reviews –
buy this one. Do not waste money on the more expensive one. it does the job.
Yang Lu –
I use it with Comcast in NJ. It’s always on and I’ve yet to need to restart 5 months into ownership.

I had major disconnection problem with one of my Motorola (built in modem and router) for a while and Comcast was not able to identify the problem. So I decided to try this a new one after doing some research online. Many customer as well as expert reviews recommended this Zoom Modem. I have been using this modem for around six months now and I had no major issues with this device. I still have disconnection problem because of a separate router (TP-Link) that I am using with this device, but there seems to be no problem with this one.**PROS****Matte black finish color looks nice**Setting up this device was pretty quick and painless**The modem is pretty compact and lightweight**I get a pretty good speed of download of at least 80.85mpbs, up of 10.89mbps.**Works well with Comcast compared to my previous modems** Bonds 8 channels and works well (capable of bonding with up to 8 downstream and 4 upstream channels)**It is cheaper than Motorola**CONS****It lacks a phone jack if you need one for phone service (which is not a issue for me)**This does not act as a router (unlike the combo ones) so if you are looking for the built-in model this might not be the one for you**The bottom part gets a bit hot when I use it for a while but this doesn’t seem to affect the performance**It does seem to be a bit bright when lights are off but not an issue for me**OVERALL**Would I recommend this device to anyone?YES. It has been a good modem overall without any issues over the past few months and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a stable device. Plus, you will be saving your money in the long run if you get your own modem (instead of paying monthly lease payment to Comcast). Sure, there are minor issues but considering the quality, price, performance, design, as well as clear instructions, I would this deserves at least a four star!!

Works with Time Warner Cable and saves me ~$5 a month in rental fees. This thing has almost paid for itself.I have no issues with wireless connections or internet speeds in my house, so I think this is doing what it needs to.I had to call the cable company to tell them I was switching, along with giving them the information on my modem. The instructions were very good and it was easy to set up.
Customer –
WORKS GREAT. I HAVE COMCAST XFINITY AND IT HOOKED UP QUICKLY AND SAVES ME RENTAL EACH MONTH
Myriad Minds, Inc. –
Item as described, but Comcast doesn’t utilize the higher speeds with this one, even though it is on their supported list.
Brian –
I have Charter cable. This unit plugged right in and I used charters online modem tool to get it up and running. Easy and works good.
Peter F. Matthies –
Worked great right out of the box. Told TWC the mac # and its been working ever since.
kelly –
works great with time warner/spectrum. getting great speeds!
jorge –
Fine
kini –
It works well enough, but sometimes I get internet drops. Can’t tell if it is the modem or the router tho. The router is old, but I didn’t have new router to fully test what is going on.
Kowshik Noor –
It’s a great modem for the given price and speed. The setup process is easy as my ISP is there to help me with the rest. And I barely need to pay attention to it.
ManoaHI –
This was a great modem and it was easily setup. It was my mistake, I didn’t know that we had the 300 MB connection, just need a modem. But until the 300 MB modem came in, this worked flawlessly and TWC had it working immediately (they needed the MAC address). If you have a 100 MB or less cable, then I recommend this. We have some Zoom modem/WAPs so I’ve had good experiences with Zoom (essentially why I originally purchased this modem.

I have Comcast and was using a Motorola Surfboard modem that I purchased, which SUCKED. Everyday the Motorola surfboard would restart itself at random times. Comcast came out to check the cable lines, they tightened this and tightened that, and they even sent updates to my modem. Nothing worked and the resetting continued. Finally fed up with my modem, I decided to give the Zoom a try. It works great so far and has not reset at all. Fingers crossed! The reason for 4 stars is b/c I received a modem that was tied to someone else’s account. Luckily Comcast was able to contact that person during my setup.
Carl John –
Works great must be 2 years or more old!
Customer –
I bought that modem for 50$, not sure why it’s so expensive now, there is probably a more recent version. Bottomline is it works great and was easy to setup. It becomes fairly warm to the touch which is a bit surprising for a modem (not power electronics), that said it hasn’t failed for over a year now. STOP PAYING MONTHLY FEES from your provider to lease you a modem, just buy your own, it’s cheap and pay for itself.Cheers,
Mosey –
I’ve had this modem for over a year now and it works like a charm day in and day out, much better than the ones Comcast likes to charge you over $100 a year for and which are not reliable. This was worth every cent I paid just to get rid of the hassle of the rented mode. I recommend it to everyone.
Danielle –
I used this to replace the modem that I was renting from comcast for $8/month. Initial setup was relatively simple, took me about a half hour and a phone call to comcast. I’ve had no troubles with it and haven’t had to touch/mess with it since setting it up. In under a year it’s already paid for itself and not having the extra charge on my cable bill has been great!
Gavino Gonzales –
Looked like A Great product, but didn’t get to use it cox serviceman said my old one was alright.
Rick Biggs –
Works as expected
cjm –
Excellent!
EddieLips –
Good value, saves an important $10 a month of rental fees
Kevin –
It works great. Every once in a while I will need to reboot it but otherwise it works great.
GrizzleBox –
This thing is great and low power! Easy on and off button for my infamous ISP problems. Could easily see when my uplink and downlink was having issues (once again a great ISP) and restart device.
w –
No issues after 10 months. Have used Zoom modems for years and they are the only brand I haven’t had an issue with.
GoTheDistance –
Have been happily using the Zoom 5341J with TWC Extreme 30/5 internet plan without issue since 2013. TWC was eventually acquired by Charter/Spectrum and it also seem to be working fine with the upgraded Ultimate 200/20 plan minus some conversion issues as long as you work directly with higher level 3 support whereas level 1 cable technicians will falsely blame the cable modem is bad or tell you it’s no longer supported to get you to rent a lesser 4×4 Ubee modem when the Zoom 5341J is clearly listed on the current 2017 compatibility list. Best advice is if you have service issues that level 1 support can’t fix don’t hesitate to skip to the more capable level 3 support to get them to fix the service provisioning issues. It’s not the cable modem.
Buyer –
Works as said.
K. Lai –
Still in use without any issues. Would buy again should this one broke or get a faster box.
Jason K Pae –
Good consistent modem been a few years and still running fine
Ian in Fort Lauderdale –
These are GREAT!
Batman –
Great product and love it!
Ted L. –
Works nicely on local Comcast for a year.
P E R –
So far so good. Cox wanted $150 dollars for a lesser quality one when I upgraded my internet. This work very well for a fraction of the cost.
Customer –
I’ve had this modem for a few years now, and I’ve had zero issues with it. My ISP only allows 100Mbps on this model, but that’s all I pay for currently. While I’ve had multiple router issues, this modem has performed as desired the entire time I’ve owned it.
theoryTim –
No complaints with this modem, been using it awhile now.
Tommy T –
I like Zoom products and this adds to my list of good Zoom performance after a year. I’d buy from Zoom again!
Scott Forney –
Worked well with Comcast customer. No more rental from Comcast.
Average Joe –
Purchased two, about a year apart. I have had no trouble with these Zoom modems.
No means no –
Works great. Exceeded my plan’s speed.
K. Heylin –
It paid for itself. I just realized, I’ve had my modem for nearly 4 years. It’s easily paid for itself. Just recently started experiencing some network issue, might be the modem, but might be comcast. Just know after resetting the modem, my network is back up. If it is the modem, I would be happy to buy it again.
Richard D. Dawson –
Great modem
BakerBear –
Good modem for the price!Nice compact size, good speed throughput, stable firmware (have only had to the whole “unplug and replug” twice… in over two years). Initial setup with comcast was slightly annoying, but that wasn’t the modem’s fault :-/Would recommend this item.
Jay –
I would love to give it a higher review but had to return it because my ISP could not see the modem at all.
Kristopher D. Miller –
Have had no real issues other than ISP issues…
Michael –
Almost 2 years into owning this, it is a great product. Small and efficient. Simple and easy to use. Cable modem only, no wifi. Exactly what I need and recommend for best speeds. Always get a separate router. I install cable (tv, internet, phone) for a living, this is a good piece of equipment. As noted, this is not an “unbox it and post” review, Ive had it for 2 years and Zero issues.
Mike B. –
works great
Ritz –
Works without problems.
John F –
Pretty fast little router
Vince Coghlan –
this is surely the best modem i have ever had
Idontwanta publicprofile –
I haven’t thought about this modem in over 5 years because I know IT JUST WORKS. This modem works fantastic. It’s been through many power outages, hurricanes, crammed in areas with bad ventilation and dog hair everywhere, used and abused for over 5 years. This modem is nothing short of perfect.
