had it installed, works good
C. Sandquist –
Saved a bunch by buying this versus from the cable company. Works as it should.
Justin –
I upgraded from an old action tech modem and my speeds are unbelievable now. I live in a very rural town with Century Link and now can stream any movie with no issues.
RAH –
this did not come with any instruction and Century Link has been less than helpful.
daynek –
Worked great right out of the package, eazy set up did it just by using my phone
R0AHN –
Came in a CenturyLink box so they can’t even claim it’s not the right modem for you :’DWorks much better than the crappy ones they normally lease. Get it, set it up, and forget about it.
WingNut –
I’m on CenturyLink and have had to buy several DSL modems. This was the first one that worked out of the box. Very happy with it so far.
Cathy Hamby –
Worked until I upgraded to a faster speed, which is why I purchased this model, so I returned it. They refunded immediately and I would’ve kept it had it worked for the upgrade.
AK Glenmist –
Worked great and I’m saving $9.99 every month by not renting a modem!
Hassan Hourmanesh –
Very nice. Just hook up and go.
Customer –
I see some reviews here that speak to long term reliability. I cant validate that yet as this review is tied to a new install. But I did want to share my experience to help any Century Link customers considering this modem / router. The modem worked right out of the box and I was able to establish the wifi network in less than 5 minutes on both PC and mobile. HOWEVER, there is a login page that popped up asking for the phone number attached to the account in order to connect to the internet. I have an internet only account, no phone, so I had no idea what my number was. A quick call to CL customer service solved that issue. I recommend you locate this number before your set up.Router strength was pretty impressive. I live in a rural farm area and I was able to stream Youtube videos almost 100 yards from the house in all directions. Cant ask for more than that.

Works flawlessly and as advertised. I use VDSL 25MB service with century link and it works like a charm.
Gary VanSickle –
Great DSL Modem – Just recently switched from Cable to DSL and this VDSL2 was required for the speeds.Works like a charm, easy to configure
Customer –
The last one we got from century link only lasted one and a half year. This new one is working fine but we’ll see how long is going to last. My tech savvy husband installed it with a little help from century link help desk.
Customer –
fit the bill

Edit: My previous comment said that the modem stopped working after 6 months. Well I called CenturyLink a third time, and they told me that it WASN’T the modem after all. As a result, I’m changing this to 5 stars, because it was apparently working just fine. However, I give CenturyLink customer service 1 star, fwiw.UPDATED (See above):I’ve owned this modem for about 6 months, and it already stopped working. I called Century Link two separate times and they told me my modem needs replaced.Even before it totally quit, it didn’t work great. I had to power cycle it about once every week or two.
C. Phillips –
works good
Customer –
When I first looked into this modem and read the reviews, it convinced me to get it. Some reviewers said it was easy to install while others said it wasn’t. It took me a week to figure it out with the help of CenturyLink. I was disappointed in the beginning that nothing wasn’t coming on but I didn’t want to send it back and was willing to work with it. I’m glad I did. Works just great and the speed it greatly improved.I would recommend this modem but be sure you get help from CenturyLink.
CW B. –
replaced centurylinks modem….. Now I have a dependable modem
Well, I Tried –
Good product. Accepted by Century Link as OEM. A little kinky setting up. I hadn’t done this in a while. But it’s set, warranties, and supported by CL CS. Been working just fine for a while. BTW: I would not hurt you to check your speed regularly. I’m paying for 40mips. Getting 20mips. Maybe 32 max. Ask if you’re being throttled. And why.
Leroy R. Ellis –
Easy set up and works great.
Gary Jones –
I purchased this Wireless Gateway as a recommended upgrade by the CenturyLink’s tech support group for an originally supplied Zyxel C1000Z Wireless Gateway that had been malfunctioning the past several months.I have had this unit online for a little over week and after initially needing support from CenturyLink’s tech support group to resolve issues with properly connect to the internet it appears to be working okay.So far its performance appeared to be similar to that of the Zyxel C1000Z Wireless Gateway via Speedtest testing of the Enhernet and WiFi modes with Enhernet speeds consistent within the rated purchased speed level, but as with the C1000Z the C1100Z the WiFi speeds were inconsistent from as low 0 to a maximum of 50% of the rated Enhernet speeds. CenturyLink’s tech support group was of no help in resolving this issue. With the recommendation of a network specialist at my local big box office supplies store I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 / R7000 Smart WiFi Router. I disabled the Zyxel C1100Z Wireless Gateway’s WiFi function, using instead the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 as the WiFi Router and I am now seeing consistent WiFi speeds of 75% to 100% of the Enhernet speeds, WOW, thanks network specialist guy.
John Huntsman –
easy to connect
Kirk Carroll –
I bought this to replace a Netgear DM200 that failed after 8 months (tech support was a joke – NO support after 30 days without paying for it which I refused to do but that’s another story). Setup of the Zyxel took 15 minutes and I immediately noted improved performance of my streaming and downloads. Wish I had started off with Zyxel instead of Netgear (never again!).
Ken –
Easy setup and works good.
skeeter1269 –
Does exactly what I need.
Shop Foreman –
I purchased this modem to replace one that CenturyLink sent me which was junk ( C1100T ). Before I got this I was rebooting the C1100T as many as 5 -6 times a day to get internet service. This Zyzel C1100Z has not lost connection since I installed it a month ago. Getting excellent internet service from it daily. I might add that this is a CenturyLink authorized modem, and I asked them to send this one, but typical CenturyLink couldn’t gaurentee which modem I’d get and I ended up with the junk C1100T, so I went online to Amazon and purchased the Zyxel myself. Was worth the money. Saved giving CL the rental cost of 10 bucks a month.
Tony Reynolds –
Great direct replacement for any CenturyLink router, if you’re tired of renting theirs. Works as advertised and easy to set up. I had no problems at all.
scott –
This modem/router is pretty good and I’m able to hit my wired speeds but my wireless card didn’t perform as good as modem/router that came with my service but of course this one works great with my Fioptics and saves me the modem fee. I would buy it again as it was easy to set up and worked right out of the box.
L. Nguyen –
Working ok for now, but it’s not a new modem router. Corner looks melted and front scratched. Probably refurbished.
rPM541 –
Got it set up and it works
Harold Peck –
Great range, speeds better than advertised by the provider and easy to setup. Very happy with the product.
Thomas Wilde –
I bought it to avoid the endless rental charges, and considering the original cost, it paid for itself. The end has been kind of bizarre and very annoying – one computer could connect while another would enter and endless loop of providing the password only to be asked for it again, and again, and again. I also got very tired of Centurylink’s not great internet, so the timing was perfect for switching back to Comcast after five years. Going from Centurylink’s 40 mbps to Comcast’s 250 (tested out at 275) was a very nice consolation prize for losing this router/modem. Considering Comcast’s equipment costs more than Centurylink’s I’ve decided to go back to renting. But this did a very so-so job, which is exactly my impression of Centurylink’s internet.
MJ Webb –
Easy enough to set up and replace the Zyxel unit used before this one. Does its job.
bili yu –
Purchased it to replace a C1000z. So far the connection has been reliable. ISP is CenturyLink.
Vyertech –
Worked for what I needed it for. The manual says do not use a dsl filter. But you still need to use a dsl filter if using a credit card machine or else you will have issues.
Office Drone –
Worked great for me. The latest Zytel dual DSL has a much stronger 5.0 ghz signal, but otherwise the 1100 is very reliable.
Drillian –
The zyxel modem met my expectations. Good speeds and a a very stable connection.
Lynn E. –
Works exactly as I’d hoped. Good connection, easy to set up. This works not with an ethernet connection but with a wall phone connection. Be sure you know which one works for you.
Mikayla –
Century Link was able to set this up and it was cheaper than buying it through them and I avoided the rental cost. This modem works up to 40 mbps, if you want higher speeds, the installer said you would need better ‘bones.’ For our small family, this works great and meets our needs.
Gayle –
This SOLVED my internet/wireless network problems that I was having with CenturyLink Internet.
Christian –
Works with my ISP. Has bridge mode.
Stephanie V. Wohleber –
Can’t tell if it is the modem or the internet that it awful. 🙁 Maybe a little of both.
Ian M. –
not much to say; its a modern VDSL2 modem with 4 port router and B/G wifi. Before CenturyLink upgraded my building’s DSLAM, I was using an old ADSL modem from the 90s bought at Goodwill and an Apple AirPort. This did the trick, plus let me run wired to my desktop. WiFi range, even in a closet, covers my small home better than the AirPort did.You don’t need CL service to use this, but be sure your ISP uses VDSL2. Also, this modem is not appropriate for double-play or triple-play services with VoIP/TV, but works fine with plain internet and landline.
It’s a Tzu –
Works great
