I’m a CenturyLink customer, and have this unit. It’s been 11 months now and all of a sudden our internet stop. I called CenturyLink and went through their technical support and they could not fix it and found out it was a router problem. I have this exact unit. Currently I am leasing it, but would like to find a unit that I could purchase so that I don’t have to lease. The unit works fine until it stopped working. I think $150 is a lot for something that didn’t even last 12 months.

Install was quick and easy and it’s been working flawlessly for three weeks.

Has to be the worst Wi-Fi card on the market you go out and buy the modem then you need a router to make it good.
Karey A. Pharris –
If all you want is plug and play, then this might be for you. However if you want to do any security configuration, MAC filtering, connect a USB device for network storage, change DHCP; then you should look elsewhere. There is a 12 device limit on the MAC filtering, not very useful. When I tried configuring DHCP away from the well known 192.168.0.1, you loose internet connectivity! The online support guy from CL said yes they disable a lot of the features in this modem; makes no sense at all to remove features that are clearly stated on the box and in the manual from the manufacturer. The only good thing I can say is that the speed of this modem over my older modem was better.
Dana –
setup was easy, better wifi range than the rented modem/router. and no $10 rent every month.will pay for itself in about a year
Karen –
This modem works great with CenturyLink internet service.
dexter morgan –
no issues with century link! easy set up and hasn’t needed rebooting in the past few weeks i’ve owned it.
Jennie Yamasaki –
So far it works very well. Arrived before date promised. No message that say “unable to connect with . . .”
Douglas Hitchens –
Easy setup, great wireless range in my house.
Roy McCleary –
I liked the speed but disliked the straight up and down size of modum.

ZyXEL C1100Z modem/router. I have had 3 of these in the last 3 months. The newest one works most of the time but is still unreliable. It drops out several times a week. It is hard wired to my pc and it still drops out. The WiFi signal to my phone, tablet and tvs is even more unpredictable. I can’t begin to count the number of times I have called the CenturyLink help desk. They tell me there are no reported problems. I go thru the unplug routine all the time. I can’t recommend this product.

If you have already Centuty Link and want to upgrade this is the way to go. I connects and hooks itself up with your existing account. It broadcasts the signal in 2.4 and 5.0 ghz so you can choose whivh one you want to use with each device in your home.My old modem dropped the signal at least once a day, this one never did since it was hooked up.

Installation was easy. Step by step instructions from CenturyLink website worked great. BUT:During the 10 days following installation the internet signal dropped at least 8 times. Unplug and plug the device back in resolved the problem after each incident. I phoned Centurylink and tech service did a remote check of the line with no problem identified. CenturyLink sent a service person to my home and he checked the external service box and reattached all of the connections and found no problem with the incoming signal. He also checked the signal at the plug-in inside the house with no problem. I had four drops of the internet the following two days. I disconnected the device and reinstalled the 12 year old CenturyLink modem and the nine year old router and have no problems since. Lesson: If it works don’t fix it.

Having just moved to a new location, I needed a modem to go with my new DSL high-speed service. The ZyXEL C3000Z was one of the modems recommended by CenturyLink. The ZyXEL C3000Z is a combination modem and router. I have a TP-Link router that worked well for me over the past year when it was hooked up to an Xfinity cable modem, and I anticipated connecting that router to the ZyXEL C3000Z after the CenturyLink new-account tech left the house. But, I’ve put off doing so as the C3000Z seems to be working so well as a router. The C3000Z is located in the center of my 2,000SF Florida concrete block ranch style home. It’s 5G and 2.4G signal reaches every room in the house as well as the Lanai and the garage. While expecting nothing more from this device than a basic connection to my ISP, I was pleasantly surprised with how effective it is as a single unit device to serve my network needs. It is very dependable, unlike the frequent crashes I experienced with my cable modem. If you have DSL high-speed service, I highly recommend that you consider this combination modem router for your ISP connection.

Upgraded my DSL and needed a modem like this one because the new setup was pair bonded service. The modem is set up wired for the TV and wireless for the computer. It is working great with no downtime after a month. Before the upgrade downtime was about a couple of times per week. I can now stream without the aggravating buffering that I had before.

When my old modem became troublesome, a Century Link Tech GAVE me this one. For weeks it would lose Internet service intermittently. i had to constantly unplug and plug back in to restart. Early mornings and bad whether seemed to effect it mostly. I called and they said they don’t know why the Technician gave me a “bad” modem. I will struggle with this but soon will buy a new and more reliable model.
Laura –
This combination modem/router has an extended range of up to 300′ square, which is enough to reach our downstairs bedroom. Finally, no more dead zones in the house.
Fred Mouse –
Century Link brought one of these when they came to set up the new DSL and it worked fine. I purchased one to avoid the $10/month rent and the one I purchased didn’t work out of the box. When I talked to Century Link to set up the new DSL I asked about buying rather than renting the modem and was told it was a new modem and not very reliable. Maybe I will try again.Turns out Century Link sells these modems for $100. Go figure. It comes with a one year warranty so for $60 to $70 less I ordered one. Will report back when it arrives.
Aaron –
I just got Gigabit Fiber from CenturyLink and this is their leased model they provide. It is a very capable WiFi router and can certainly handle full gigabit speeds through the wired connections on it. I’m not sure if I broke 300mbps up/down on wireless on it. I opted to use my own equipment instead for better use in my home and a more powerful Wireless AP than this can do for me. CenturyLink sells them for $150 if you want it with their service.
Andrew G –
Received this through CenturyLink for free when I upgraded my DSL service speed. Apparently if you ask for the customer retention department, they can hook you up. Normal price through CenturyLink in my area was $150.I use it in bridge mode, so I can’t really comment on the usefulness of it as a router or wireless access point, but it has been reliable so far in connecting to CenturyLink in bonded mode.
shadow –
This modem will not run 2.4 and 5.0 simultaneously with any pass word other than the default pass word. If you use a custom word you have to choose one of 2.4 or 5.0 not both. I would like to see a software fix and soon. Hopefully someone will read this and take action.
Oldink38 –
One star just to get your attention so that you will make sure that CenturyLink Tech Department pays attention…when you ask them what modem you need to buy for your DSL connection. Because this modem would not work with my CenturyLink DSL connection and believe me I asked. But they must not have been paying attention. Get their attention. This modem works with a bonded DSL connection and I don’t have one.

The Centurylink ZyXEL C3000Z DSL Modem/Router works wonderfully with Centurylink. Super easy to set up. It has all the features I need and more. My only gripe is that reserving IP/MAC addresses takes longer than usual for DSL modems.
