Modemguides.com has been helping people get online since 2015. What started in Oregon is now run out of Montana, where we've continued doing what we've been doing from day one: sourcing quality networking equipment, testing it thoroughly, and getting it into the hands of customers who just want their internet to work.
Modemguides is a small, family-run shop based in Montana. We are two people (and two dogs) who test, restore, and rehome networking equipment, and we answer our own support messages. This page is the best place to get to know us before you buy.
What We Do
We specialize in Grade A renewed and refurbished networking equipment: modems, routers, and related gear. Rather than let working hardware end up in a landfill, we rehome it. Every device is tested in-house in the United States, reset to factory settings, cleaned, and restored to full working order before it ships in eco-friendly packaging. From there, inventory is routed to fulfillment centers across the country so orders arrive fast.
We have worked with refurbished electronics since 2014, and networking equipment has been our specialty for over a decade. In the past year alone, we shipped more than 10,000 modems and routers to customers nationwide.
Warranty and Support
Every device we sell carries a 90-day full-coverage warranty. Returns are free within the first 30 days, and we typically issue full replacements for any issues that arise within the 90-day window.
Technical support is handled entirely in-house by our US-based team, Monday through Friday. No offshore call centers, no scripted tiers. When you write in, you are talking directly to the people who tested your device.

Meet the Team
Modemguides is run by Rob and his fiancée Ivy from their home base in Montana, with occasional quality-control supervision from their two bordoodles.
Outside the shop, Rob spends his time training the dogs, reading philosophy, and following the latest advancements in tech.
Ivy keeps the shop running day to day. Away from work, she enjoys fiber arts, cooking new dishes, tending the garden, and reading fiction.
Beyond the business, we are passionate about supporting local farms, regenerative and organic agriculture, and doing our part to build a better, more peaceful world. Refurbishing is one small piece of that: good hardware gets a second life instead of a spot in a landfill.
