One of the very few DSL Modems made by Arris, the Arris NVG589 is one of the best. The NVG589 is suitable for both xDSL and FTTN applications, combining a Bonded VDSL2/ADSL2+ router with HomePNA 3.1 support for in-home video distribution in one package. Additionally, the NVG589 features high-power 802.11g/b/n Wi-Fi. It uses multiple-input and multiple-output MIMO technology with 802.11n. This eliminates the need for wired connections and enables you to easily network all your wireless 802.11b/g/n-equipped devices.
The NVG589 has 2 built-in phone lines that can be used for either a landline phone or security system. AT&T customers can connect up to 2 separate phones to their modem. Phone lines active only with compatible phone plans. Please note that DSL filters (sold separately) may be required for your phone to function properly.
The NVG589 includes four 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports that allow for connection of many wired devices such as range extenders, access points, printers, & PC's. These Ethernet ports can also be used to connect a network extender or to connect a switch to access more ethernet ports. In addition to the integrated Ethernet ports, the NVG589's Advanced Quality of Service (QoS), security firewall, and extensive remote management features enable reliable, single-platform delivery of Voice-over-IP (VoIP), data, and streaming broadcast-quality video over the VDSL2/ADSL2 broadband network.
The Arris NVG589 includes the option for an added backup battery that can provide service, even during a power outage for emergency purposes. The optional, field-replaceable Lithium-ion battery provides VoIP subscribers with primary line reliability in the event of power failure. This can be essential in any natural disaster event, and for peace of mind. Backup batteries sold separately.
This Arris DSL modem is primarily used and is compatible with AT&T U-Verse service in most areas. To verify that this model will work in your area, always contact your service provider's customer service prior to placing your order with us to confirm that this model will work with your service plan. Some service plan speeds may not be supported.
This method works on Windows computers and does not require any software to be downloaded. You'll be using command prompt to find the internal IP address so you can log into your WiFi router or modem router's settings panel.
