Built-In VoIP Phone Service

Unlike a standard cable modem, the TM502G includes an embedded multimedia terminal adapter (eMTA) with two RJ11 telephone ports, so your provider can deliver home phone and internet through a single device. Arris uses one firmware platform across all Touchstone telephony modems, which means consistent call quality and the reliability phone service demands: an occasional reboot may be tolerable for a data connection, but never for your phone line.

Will this work with my internet company?

The Arris TM502G is primarily used with Mediacom internet and phone service, most often on longstanding accounts that still include cable phone service. Because this is a DOCSIS 2.0 device, it is best suited to legacy plans and lower speed tiers, and some current plan speeds are not supported.

Setup and Activation

1. Connect the coaxial cable from your wall outlet to the Cable port on the modem.
2. Plug in the power supply and wait a few minutes for the status lights to stabilize.
3. Connect your telephone to the Tel 1 port (use Tel 2 for a second line).
4. Connect your computer or router to the Ethernet port.
5. Call your provider to activate the modem. Have the MAC address and serial number from the label ready.
