The GL.iNet MUDI V2 (GL-E750V2) is a portable 4G LTE travel router with a nano-SIM slot, a 7000 mAh battery rated for about 8 hours per charge, dual-band Wi-Fi at 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz) and 433 Mbps (5 GHz), and OpenWrt firmware with WireGuard and OpenVPN preinstalled. It is for travelers, RV and van users, and remote workers who want their own cellular hotspot with a built-in VPN and ad blocking instead of a carrier-locked puck. It takes a data SIM from a US or international carrier, and it can also share hotel Wi-Fi (repeater mode), a tethered phone, or a wired connection through the included USB-C port replicator.

GL.iNet describes the MUDI V2 as compatible with global carriers and does not publish a per-carrier certification list. The LTE band lists above include the bands used by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the United States, including B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66, and B71, and the Cat 6 module adds B17, B29, B30, and B48 (CBRS). The router is unlocked and takes a standard nano-SIM data plan. Some US carriers restrict data-only plans by device IMEI, so confirm with your carrier that your plan allows use in a hotspot or router before you buy a SIM. If you want 5G and higher speeds, see the MUDI 7.
A dedicated LTE router keeps your phone's battery and data plan out of the loop and gives every device the same firewall, VPN, and ad-blocking rules. The MUDI V2 runs its own OpenWrt firmware, so you can load WireGuard or OpenVPN profiles from Proton VPN or Mullvad once and every laptop, tablet, and streaming device behind it is covered. Its VPN throughput is modest (40 Mbps over WireGuard), which is fine for email, browsing, video calls, and HD streaming, but not for multi-gig work. For higher VPN speeds on a wired or Wi-Fi uplink, compare the models in our travel router comparison or the VPN router collection.
Want 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and eSIM?
The GL.iNet MUDI 7 (GL-E5800) steps up to 5G NR, tri-band Wi-Fi 7, dual nano-SIM plus eSIM, a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port, and WireGuard up to 600 Mbps. The MUDI V2 is the lower-cost pick for 4G-only plans and lighter workloads.
Its LTE bands include the main bands those three carriers use, and GL.iNet sells it as a global-carrier device. GL.iNet does not list formal carrier certifications, so check that your data plan allows hotspot or router use before buying a SIM.
No. It is 4G LTE only, with a Cat 6 module rated at 300 Mbps down or a Cat 4 module rated at 150 Mbps down depending on the version. The MUDI 7 is the 5G model.
GL.iNet rates the 7000 mAh battery for about 8 hours per charge. Runtime drops with heavy VPN use or many connected devices, and the router can run while charging from a 5V/2A USB-C source.
Yes, through the USB-C port replicator in the box, which provides one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. It can act as a wired WAN input or a wired LAN output.
Yes. WireGuard and OpenVPN clients are preinstalled, and it can also act as a VPN server so you can reach your home network while traveling. Expect up to 40 Mbps over WireGuard.
Yes. In repeater mode it joins the hotel Wi-Fi and shares it with your devices, and it can fail over to the SIM if the hotel connection drops.
