The NETGEAR Orbi RBK752 is a tri-band WiFi 6 mesh system designed to blanket your entire home in fast, reliable wireless coverage. The two-piece kit includes the Orbi Router (RBR750) and one Orbi Satellite (RBS750), covering up to 5,000 sq. ft. with combined AX4200 speeds. If your home has dead zones, buffering issues, or an aging single-point router that cannot keep up with modern device counts, the RBK752 is built to solve those problems.
What sets the Orbi 750 series apart from many competing mesh systems is its dedicated tri-band architecture. Two of the three bands (2.4GHz at 600Mbps and 5GHz at 1200Mbps) are available for your devices, while the third 5GHz band (2400Mbps) serves as a dedicated wireless backhaul between the router and satellite. This means the connection between your Orbi units does not compete with your device traffic, resulting in more consistent speeds throughout the home.
The RBK752 operates on WiFi 6 (802.11ax) with 1024-QAM modulation across all three bands, enabling higher data throughput per transmission. MU-MIMO support allows the system to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously rather than sequentially, which is especially useful in households with many active connections. Implicit and explicit beamforming on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands helps direct the WiFi signal toward connected devices for stronger, more targeted coverage.
Under the hood, both the router and satellite are powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz processor with 512MB NAND flash storage and 1GB of RAM. Six high-performance internal antennas with high-power amplifiers are built into each unit, contributing to the system's ability to push strong signal through walls and across floors.
The Orbi Router (RBR750) features one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and three Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. The Orbi Satellite (RBS750) adds two additional Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, giving you a total of five wired LAN connections across the system. This is useful for connecting devices like desktop PCs, gaming consoles, smart TVs, and streaming players that benefit from a hardwired connection.
The RBK752 also supports link aggregation using the WAN port and one LAN port on the router, which allows you to bond two Gigabit connections for up to 2Gbps throughput from a compatible modem. This makes the system a solid fit for gigabit and multi-gig internet plans.
The Orbi RBK752 is a standalone mesh WiFi system (not a modem-router combo), so it connects to your existing cable modem, fiber ONT, or DSL gateway. It is compatible with any internet service provider up to 2Gbps, including Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, AT&T, Verizon Fios, CenturyLink, Frontier, and other major US providers. Simply connect the Orbi router's WAN port to your modem's Ethernet output, and you are ready to go.
If you are currently renting an ISP-provided gateway with built-in WiFi, you can disable the gateway's wireless radio and use the Orbi in router mode for significantly better WiFi coverage and performance. The system also supports access point (AP) mode if you prefer to let your existing gateway handle routing.
The RBK752 ships with a complimentary subscription to NETGEAR Armor, powered by Bitdefender. Armor provides real-time protection against viruses, spyware, ransomware, and malicious links across all devices connected to your network. It also includes smart home vulnerability scanning, instant threat alerts, and remote data theft protection for Android and Windows devices. After the trial period, Armor requires a paid annual subscription.
NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls are also available, letting you set content filters, pause internet access, and manage screen time across your children's devices. A premium subscription is required after the initial 30-day free trial.
On the network security side, the system supports standards-based WiFi security with 802.11i and 128-bit AES encryption with PSK. You can also set up a separate guest WiFi network to give visitors internet access without exposing your main network.
Initial setup is handled through the Orbi app, available for iOS and Android. The app walks you through placement, connecting to your modem, and creating your WiFi network. Once set up, the app provides ongoing network management including guest WiFi setup, device monitoring, data usage tracking, speed tests, and firmware updates.
The RBK752 also supports voice control with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free network management commands.
If your home is larger than 5,000 sq. ft. or has a complex layout with multiple floors or L-shaped and U-shaped floor plans, you can add additional Orbi 750 series satellites (sold separately). Each satellite extends coverage by approximately 2,500 sq. ft. and connects to the router over the same dedicated 5GHz backhaul, maintaining consistent performance as the mesh network grows.
No. The Orbi RBK752 is a mesh WiFi router system only. You will need a separate modem (cable, DSL, or fiber ONT) to connect to your internet service. The Orbi router connects to your modem via the Gigabit WAN port.
Yes. The RBK752 works with any internet service provider up to 2Gbps, including cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers such as Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, AT&T, Verizon Fios, CenturyLink, and Frontier.
The RBK752 uses a dedicated 5GHz 2400Mbps wireless band exclusively for communication between the router and satellite. This backhaul channel is separate from the bands your devices connect to, so data traveling between the Orbi units does not reduce the WiFi speeds available to your devices.
Yes. You can add additional Orbi 750 series satellites to expand coverage. Each satellite adds approximately 2,500 sq. ft. of coverage and connects over the dedicated 5GHz backhaul.
Yes. The router has three Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port. The satellite has two Gigabit LAN ports. The router also supports link aggregation by bonding the WAN and one LAN port for up to 2Gbps wired throughput from a compatible modem.
The RBK752 shipped with WPA2 (802.11i, 128-bit AES encryption with PSK) as the default security standard. Check for the latest firmware updates through the Orbi app, as NETGEAR may add WPA3 support through firmware over time.
