The WAVLINK AC1200 Outdoor (WL-WN572HP3) is a weatherproof dual-band WiFi 5 extender, access point, and mesh node built to push a WiFi signal across a yard, barn, workshop, campsite, or parking area. It is rated IP65 against dust and water jets, runs from -30°C to 70°C (-22°F to 158°F), carries four detachable 7 dBi antennas, and delivers up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz plus 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Power arrives over a single Ethernet cable through the included passive PoE injector or an 802.3af/at PoE switch, so you run one cable, not two. It works behind any router: cable, fiber, DSL, or Starlink.

PoE (Power over Ethernet) sends DC power down the spare conductors of an Ethernet cable so an outdoor device needs only one cable. Passive PoE means the included injector puts a fixed voltage on the line with no handshake; active PoE (802.3af/at) means a PoE switch negotiates power with the device first. The WL-WN572HP3 accepts both, so you can use the injector that comes in the box or plug it straight into a PoE port on a network switch. Keep the injector and power adapter indoors; they are not weatherproof. Run Cat 5e or better, and keep the total cable length under 100 m (328 ft).
Use access point mode with a wired Ethernet run whenever you can; it gives full speed and the most stable link. Repeater mode is the fallback when no cable is possible, but it halves available throughput because the same radio must talk to the router and to your devices. Mesh extender mode works only with WAVLINK routers that support Everything Mesh and lets the outdoor unit share one network name with the indoor system. Fit AP mode, which hands configuration to a separate WAVLINK AC controller, is meant for sites running several units. See our mesh WiFi systems and range extenders for indoor options.
Want a managed business access point instead?
The TP-Link EAP225-Outdoor is the same AC1200 class with IP65 weatherproofing, but it runs under TP-Link's Omada controller and supports 802.11k/v roaming. Pick the WAVLINK if you want standalone or WAVLINK mesh use; pick the EAP225-Outdoor if you want central management.
Yes, in access point and repeater modes it works with any router or gateway from any ISP, including cable, fiber, DSL, and Starlink. Mesh mode is the one exception: it requires a WAVLINK router with Everything Mesh.
Both, depending on the mode you select. It can act as a standalone router, an access point on a wired run, a wireless repeater, or a mesh extender for a WAVLINK system.
WAVLINK rates it for about 300 m (984 ft) on 5 GHz and 100 m (328 ft) on 2.4 GHz with a clear line of sight to a phone. Walls, trees, and weather reduce that, and 2.4 GHz penetrates obstacles better than 5 GHz.
Yes. It accepts 802.3af/at active PoE from a switch as well as passive PoE from the included injector.
No. It is a WiFi 5 (802.11ac) device rated AC1200. That is more than enough for most outdoor use, where the bottleneck is usually distance and interference rather than the WiFi standard.
Yes. WAVLINK lists WPA3-SAE/WPA2-PSK mixed mode, which lets WPA3-capable devices use the newer standard while older devices still connect with WPA2.
