Will this work with my internet company?
Yes. The R7900 is a wireless router, not a modem, so it is not tied to any single internet company. It works with virtually any provider (cable, DSL, or fiber) when connected to a compatible modem or fiber gateway. If you need a modem to pair with it, you can browse modems by internet provider.
If your provider issued a combined modem router gateway, you can still connect the R7900 behind it. For best performance, ask your provider to put the gateway in bridge mode so the R7900 handles all WiFi duties.

Setup
- Unplug your modem, connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the R7900's yellow Internet port, then power the modem back on.

Is the Netgear R7900 the same as the R7900P?
No. The R7900 is the Nighthawk X6 (AC3000) with a 1GHz dual-core processor. The R7900P is the newer Nighthawk X6S, which adds MU-MIMO, a 1.8GHz processor, and link aggregation. Both are tri-band AC3000 routers, but they are different models.
Is the R7900 a modem?
No. The R7900 is a router only. It creates your WiFi network but needs to connect to a modem or fiber gateway to reach the internet.
