The Netgear R7900 Nighthawk X6 is a tri-band AC3000 smart WiFi router built for busy households with lots of connected devices. Two dedicated 5GHz bands and one 2.4GHz band deliver combined wireless speeds up to 3.0 Gbps, while Smart Connect automatically places each device on the fastest band available so streaming, gaming, and video calls can all run at once without fighting for bandwidth.

Six high-performance antennas with high-power amplifiers and Beamforming+ push a strong, focused signal through very large homes, and a 1GHz dual-core processor with three offload processors keeps both wired and wireless traffic moving.

What's Included

Will this work with my internet company?

Yes. The R7900 is a wireless router, not a modem, so it is not tied to any single internet company. It works with virtually any provider (cable, DSL, or fiber) when connected to a compatible modem or fiber gateway. If you need a modem to pair with it, you can browse modems by internet provider.

If your provider issued a combined modem router gateway, you can still connect the R7900 behind it. For best performance, ask your provider to put the gateway in bridge mode so the R7900 handles all WiFi duties.

Setup

1. Unplug your modem, connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the R7900's yellow Internet port, then power the modem back on.
2. Plug in the R7900 and wait for the power light to stabilize.
3. Connect a phone or computer to the preset WiFi network printed on the router's label.
4. Open the Nighthawk app (or visit routerlogin.net) and follow the prompts to set your own network name and password.
5. Reconnect your devices to the new network.
