Ethernet Adapter for Starlink Gen 2 (Standard Actuated)

This Ethernet adapter adds one wired network port to the Starlink Gen 2 kit, also called Standard Actuated. The Gen 2 Starlink router has no Ethernet ports, so this adapter is the part that lets you connect a mesh WiFi system, your own router, or a desktop computer by cable. It is made by XTAR for Starlink Gen 2 hardware and supports speeds up to 1 Gbps.

Check Which Starlink You Have First

This adapter is only for the Gen 2 kit. You have Gen 2 if your dish is rectangular and sits on a motorized mast that tilts on its own, and your router is a tall white unit with no Ethernet ports. The newer flat Standard dish with a kickstand comes with a router that already has two Ethernet ports, and the Starlink Mini has one built in. Those kits do not need this adapter.

How It Connects

1. Unplug the Starlink router from power.
2. Unplug the dish cable from the bottom of the router.
3. Plug the adapter into the router where the dish cable was.
4. Plug the dish cable into the adapter.
5. Connect an Ethernet cable from the adapter's RJ45 port to your device, then plug the router back in.

What You Can Connect

• A mesh WiFi system. Run the Ethernet cable to the main mesh unit's WAN port, then turn on Bypass Mode in the Starlink app so the Starlink router stops broadcasting its own WiFi. Our Starlink mesh and Ethernet adapter guide walks through it.
• Your own router. The steps are the same as for a mesh system.
• A wired device. A desktop computer, game console, or network switch gets a steadier connection by cable than over WiFi.
• A newer Starlink router. A Starlink Gen 3 Router or a wired Starlink Router Mini connects to a Gen 2 kit through this port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Starlink Gen 2 router have an Ethernet port?

No. The Gen 2 router is WiFi only. An Ethernet adapter adds one RJ45 port.

Will this adapter work with the Gen 3 Starlink router or the Starlink Mini?

No, and those do not need it. The Gen 3 router has two Ethernet ports built in, and the Starlink Mini has one.

How fast is the Ethernet port?

The adapter supports speeds up to 1 Gbps, which is above the speeds Starlink residential service delivers.

Do I need Bypass Mode with this adapter?

Only when you connect your own router or mesh system. Bypass Mode turns off the Starlink router's WiFi so the two routers do not conflict. A single wired computer does not need it.
