Mesh is a set of WiFi units that work together under one network name. The Router Mini joins your existing Starlink network as one of those units and repeats the signal up to another 1,300 square feet. It suits a back bedroom, a garage, a second floor, or the far end of an RV. Starlink recommends no more than three added mesh nodes on one network.
Starlink recommends a wired connection for the best performance. Run an Ethernet cable (Cat5e or better) from a LAN port on the main Starlink router to the WAN port on the Router Mini, then plug in power. The node appears in the Starlink app on its own. A wired link to a Gen 2 router needs an Ethernet adapter for the Gen 2 router, and a wired link to a Starlink Mini uses Starlink's Mini Ethernet cable.
Yes. It pairs with the Starlink Mini over WiFi in the Starlink app. For a wired link, use Starlink's Mini Ethernet cable.
Starlink rates the Router Mini for up to 1,300 square feet. Walls, floors, and distance from the main router reduce that figure.
Not on a kit where the router powers the dish, such as the Standard 4 X Kit with its Gen 3 Router. The Router Mini has no power output for a dish, so it is used as an add-on node.
No. It only meshes with Starlink routers. To use a mesh system from another brand with Starlink, see our Starlink mesh and Ethernet adapter guide.
Starlink recommends no more than three added mesh nodes on one network.
